❖ Activity Checks It's a short announcement this time, but due to members' questions, we thought it would be prudent to let everyone know that staff are momentarily suspending Activity Checks. We may ask you from time to time to post OOC-ly to make sure that you're still here, but IC posts will not be required until further notice. This is due to the lull in activity around the forum in general, and if people are dealing with busy personal lives or unavailable muses, we do not want to impose the additional burden of monthly IC Activity Checks. Additionally, staff have not been putting up ACs consistently, and it would not be fair to require members to post sporadically. That said, please continue posting if you have the time or the muse, and we hope that once our own schedules open up, we can start planning for ways to increase activity again.

Dearest members,
It's almost been a year since our last announcement, whoops. We mods must apologize for not having been on recently and updating things as regularly, but we have been busy for a cause! As you can see, we have implemented a brand new theme for TND. We don't have many announcements to bring you this time around (though there may be more coming soon), but this post is to serve as a short guide in case you need to know where to find everything.❖ THEME UPDATES What's new with this theme: it includes fancy mini-profiles (a guide for which you will find below if needed). All site info, including OTMs and Staff are located at the banner, which you can scroll through by using the gray, square tabs on the left-hand side. To find our OOC chatbox, simply click 'toggle chatbox' on the navigation. Our IC chatbox is now located under 'links' in the banner description instead of popping out on the right side of the forum.
If you encounter any problems with the layout (i.e. if anything's unreadable or broken), inform Worldie.❖ MINI-PROFILES This is fairly self-explanatory, but it can never hurt to clarify. So in order to fill out your mini-profile, you can go to Profile → Edit Profile → Personal. Under all the default stuff, the mini-profile fields begin. Click the spoiler if you need help filling out each field.
250x400 Avatar: Pretty self-explanatory. This is the first tab on your mini-profile, and displays your avatar. Insert a direct link to your picture in the text field.
Alias: Type your OOC name. Shows up on the third tab.
Critique thread, plotter, application: These show up on the second tab of your mini-profile. Just insert the link to your respective thread in the text field.
Occupation, age, sexuality: Normal text fields, just fill in your answer. They also show up on the second tab.
200x200 Gif/Image: This shows up on the third tab. As the field name implies, any image or gif will work. Again, you must use a direct link.
200x150 Gif/Image: This shows up on your second tab, but functions pretty much the same as your 200x200 gif/image.
Time-zone: So we know where you live.
Feel free to refer to Worldie or Derp's profiles if you want to see how everything looks filled out.
Beyond that, not much else has changed, and we will set about getting back to business as usual. Watch for the OTM polls, which will be coming soon! We also have an event in the works, but when it debuts will depend on when people have more free time. In the meantime, good luck to everyone who's started school and we hope to get things moving soon! |

As mentioned here, this poll is made to discover which one of the plotting methods preferred by TND members for the upcoming Turf War Arc. Due to the size of this arc and involvement of many muses at once, we need cooperation from members to decide how the arc goes. 1. Threads/plot with one decided outcome.This style allows muns to discuss their desired actions and outcomes, which will remain static unless agreed upon by all participants of the arc that they may change once initial plotting is concluded. Functions similar to a thread exclusively belonged to two muses or more (a closed thread). Pros: - safer (there will be clear direction or goal that the muns should reach and muns will not feel lost in the middle of the thread or feel confused on what their muse has to do).
- time efficient. When plots are figured out, all that needs to be done is to roleplay the 'key events'. It is easier to plot/figure out future events and several threads that are not necessarily happening at the same time in-verse can be threaded at the same time.
- personal plots related to the arc may be planned ahead of time and muns have more control over the degree of lasting effects.
Cons: - little flexibility once the plots/roles are established. It is still possible for people to join and make changes, but it cannot alter the main storyline. Permission must also be obtained from all members in the case of making changes.
- involves decided amount of players.
- hard for other players to join in a main role once the arc has begun.
- less opportunity for muns (who weren't involved in the initial stages of plotting) to affect the result and become "central" plot elements.
- could be less exciting because outcome has been predetermined.
- difficulty continuing if someone declares a hiatus.
2. Threads/plot with flexible/open outcomes.This is basically threading with no particular goal or flexible goal. The mods will give you a plot to work with but the outcome is up to muses' decisions. Functions similar to an open thread. Pros: - more possibilities and higher chances of unpredictable events.
- more autonomy for muns/players to influence the end result without plotting first (in-threading)
- more inviting and less constraining for players to join
- easier to get new members involved by allowing them to simply join a thread without needing to go through plotting.
- more chances for different muses' decisions to drive the plot.
- hiatuses and drops can be easily dealt with by using a system of "removing" inactive muses. It will be done through random events that may or may not make sense (i.e. Lena isn't here to post? Ludwig gets kidnapped and left in a closet. Lena comes back and wants in? Ludwig wakes up and gets the zipties off his wrists with his manly strength.)
Cons: - might involve frequent NPC usage by mods if the thread is stalled.
- uncertain results mean that it could affect the course and ultimate outcome of the arc.
- will take longer to thread, as variable outcomes stall the ability to plan out future events that are related to the current event.
- might affect personal arcs outside the war and plotting that has been done privately between muns (though we will try to keep lasting effects minimal).
- could potentially cause ooc drama due to uncertainties and desires for different outcomes (though we do expect our members to be mature and understand that they may not necessarily get the outcomes they want. If this happens, however, mods will step in.)

We are aware that there has been a little bit of confusion lately, and we apologize for taking so long to put out an announcement about it. As you may have noticed, we now have a❖ New Board
As it says in the title, this board will be home to major arcs. While we do not yet have a specific idea on how arcs will be implemented, the board's purpose is to store major storylines in which several people and threads are involved. This is for the sake of organization. At the same time, we hope that these arcs will (a) involve many people's muses and add some excitement to some stagnating plots due to character drops and difficulties plotting, and (b) to restore the atmosphere of an espionage RP. As mentioned in the previous announcement, we have an arc in the works:❖ Turf War
Unfortunately, beyond the major ideas explained in the link, we do not yet have concrete details. There is currently a lot of discussion surrounding how this arc should be implemented in order to be as enjoyable as possible for all members, and how we may involve as many people as possible. Due to this, we've decided to put a poll for members to decide what "style" of plotting they would like best. The details are explained over at the link!
On another note, since we've been running with the assumption that Turf War would center around pre-decided plots, we realize that there is an issue of people being left out of the loop and who do not know what the major plots surrounding the Turf War are. This seems to be mainly an issue on the Cbox, when people who have been gone awhile log back on and see plotting going on. Some members have been contacted about the possibility of using their muses in the arc, and thus know and were involved in the plotting of some details. Please note that none of this has been finalized yet, and we certainly plan on having an official explanation for what the TW is, how it works, and how to get involved once we know the community's preference. Once we have a framework in place, all this information shall be posted on an open thread for people to read and contribute. If you happen to be someone who is in the know about current plots regarding TW, please do us the favor of updating your fellow RPers. ❖ Communication
If you recall from our previous announcement, we were planning on setting up a board to facilitate dialogue between members and staff. You may notice that this… has not been set up yet. In the meantime, it appears we have committed another communication faux pas. The arrival of the new board for major arcs was never announced and we have taken much too long to explain its purpose. The injury was only exacerbated by having a suddenly very active and very exclusive sub-board and arc plot flooding the [recent posts]. We completely understand members' frustration if they felt confused and excluded, and we apologize for it wholeheartedly. It was a decision that was made very rashly. The issue has been brought up, addressed, and it will not happen again. That said, we are also reiterating our promise to put up a board for member-staff communication.
Please forgive us for the mishaps. With staff changes and new initiatives, we have been fumbling a bit with organization. Communication between us has also been quite faulty. ❖ Staff Changes
Unfortunately, we have lost some great people as of recently. Captain, Missy, and Misso are no longer staff members. However, if you do see them ever again, do give them a big thanks for all they have done. I (Asu) personally do not think this place would have floated without them. They've been a huge part of what makes the boards today, and for that, I am quite grateful. Give them a big thanks and a hug.
However, it is quite certain that the show must go on, and so please welcome Lena, Worldie and Derp as new staff members. If you have any concerns about the boards, you are free to voice them to Lena, Worldie and Derp, they will happily take care of things for you. ❖ Lights, Camera, Action!
Keeping with the theme of the board, we are going to try to direct things in a more... actionous direction. Some staff have already started some open threads that encourage action, such as here and here. These are open threads without any class requirements, so anyone is free to join in the fun and add to the chaos (or get in the way of saving people, whatever is your taste). Besides this, someone has decided to take up a mission. Please wish Westley Walters-Kirkland good luck with his task of delivering lobsters. Mission threads are free for anyone to post once the original mission taker has responded, so when you see it as appropriate, go ahead and jump into that thread, which you could find here. Other missions are currently in the works, being rewritten in order to encourage more action and less slice-of-life (not that we don't enjoy a sweet slice-of-life now and again), and there will be a variety that require different classes or bar others (but don't let that deter you!).
Also, as you may have heard, some staff have prepared an arc that has been talked about to other members. This is the Turf War (fancier name pending) between two crime organizations, the Italian mafia lead by the fearless Sera Russo and the Russian bratva lead by the intimidating Ivan Braginski. There will be a thread to plot for the overall arc, so please keep your eyes peeled for that. ❖ Communication
We encourage anyone who has a problem or suggestion to contact a staff member. After all, it is much easier to address an issue when we have knowledge that there is an issue. There will be a board set up in order to encourage member-staff communication. You can tell us anything, such as ideas for the board, problems you think that are hindering the board, suggestions to make the board better, etc. We don't bite, and we really would like to help you. Sorry for the long period of time without a word. It seems these coming months have been busy for many of us, members and staff alike. This is going to be a long announcement, so do stay tuned. If you have any questions regarding any of the announcements, please don't feel afraid to drop a PM to one of the staff members — we're happy to answer any questions. Without further ado, here are the latest announcements! ❖ OTMs
We apologize for falling behind with OTMs, but we promise to make certain OTMs are more regular. This months OTMs go to Antonio Fernandez-Carriedo for the suavest male, Cerys Anwyn Lewis-Kirkland for the most enticing female, Elizaveta Hedevary for the boldest badass, and Mona for the awesomest member! Please do go congratulate the winners in the cbox when you get the chance. Another update with the OTMs system is we will be incorporating rewards. If you ever have the chance to be OTM, you will be able to receive a creative work/award from a staff member, who will be randomly selected. You will be informed of which staff member will be producing your reward, and you could request something specific — though it will have to involve your winning character (though this is different if you are the awesomest member). We will be starting this system this month! Also, please vote for the next month's OTMs! You can vote for the sexiest lady here and the suavest man here. Please do not vote for yourself. Also, if you believe someone has been particularly badass or has contributed to the Tomorrow Never Dies community, you are free to nominate someone by PMing a staff member with your nomination and reason for nomination. ❖ Staff Changes
As you may have noticed, there has been a change of leadership for Tomorrow Never Dies. Our fellow staff member, Bul, has decided to retire from the mod team. We appreciate the things she had done as a staff member, and it is quite a loss. However, she will still be on the forum as a member. The staff team has gained another staff member, Mona. She has been selected for her contributions to the board and her dedication. Feel free to PM her if you need anything! As staff, we pledge to do a better job, and we thank the members who have stuck with us through thick and thin. We appreciate it and we hope to make things better through improvements, such as improving communication between staff and members, being more active in making the forum more interesting, and making Tomorrow Never Dies a much more welcoming place, as it should be. As it seems, the Linear is dragging along much too slowly and has not functioned as originally planned. As such, we are considering removing the Linear. But do not fret! We will still have missions and tasks to complete, as what is a spy without a mission? These changes will be implemented this month. This will not affect Liquid roleplaying, certainly. The only difference is you'll be able to accept more missions and be able to complete more than one at a time. As such, we are also dropping the arc. If you have something in the linear that you would like to keep, you are free to move it to a liquid thread as desired. You may request staff to do so. If you have any objections/questions on the topic, please contact the staff. ❖ App-Locking Consensus
To address the app security issue, we have decided not to lock apps, as more members are opposed to locking the apps. Members have brought up some good points for both sides, but as feedback goes, it seems that most are not in favor of locking. We have decided that we need to focus more on more of the main theme of Tomorrow Never Dies: espionage and action. As such, we are placing an application cap on civilians, meaning no one can app a new civilian for now. We will need to jolt into more action, and so we really recommend that people start some action-filled threads. You don't even need to be an agent to do so! We will also be revising missions in the coming days to make them more interesting, cohesive, and not simply "filler events". We look forward to hosting your action-filled plots in this dangerous and sexy alternate universe. |

This board was originally exclusively Linear-only. The Linear roleplay function is supposed to be more central than the Liquid functions, and is supposed to drive the plot along. However, it is now come to a stand-still. We would like to ask you, the life and breath of the forum, the motivation that keeps your staff members slaving away, your ideas to make the Linear more dynamic, entertaining, faster-paced, central, and exciting. Suggest anything to us. We're open to things such as better missions, staff reforms, reward systems, and more. Our goal is to shift the focus back to Linear. However, we really do need your help and input.

The official British residence of the Bondevik family. It pales in comparison to their estate in their native Norway, but they seem to really have quite a nice estate here. It is complete with gardens, an indoor swimming pool, health facilities, world renown chefs, many comfortable bedrooms, conference rooms, and more. One can get lost in such an estate. |

❖ Premise
The Maximantics building has been detonated under strange circumstances. The motive? The MI6 and authorities fear that the plans for a weapon that the government commissioned from Maximantics has been stolen. The knowledge that Maximantics has of such weapons is secret, of course, but it is a trouble circumstance. Retrieval of said plans must happen before the plans are put into the hands of someone dangerous. ❖ Roles So... you want in on the action, yes? There's a limit as to how many people can get in on the action, of course. To fully enjoy this, it is recommended that you only sign up with a maximum of two characters. Of course, if you have the type of character that is needed, you may want to sign up with the less acknowledged characters. - Unlimited Agents (in fact, we encourage all who can to participate) - Unlimited Researchers- Three (3) Brokers- ALL Government officials (meaning they are involved in a mandatory way) - Unlimited Independents - Unlimited LawlessCivilians, logically, are not involved with the investigation. However, Civilians are free to bump into any of those involved in order to aid them, or not. However, if your Civilian is involved in the press and media, they would logically be involved in small ways. Agents will obviously be on investigation for the plans. Researchers are to supply Agents with gadgets if they are asked, do check your Inbox if there is anything that the staff would like for you to do specifically. Brokers will be PMed their fact files, information that they can sell during the investigations. Under no circumstances are they to share the information unless a character is IC-ly paying for the information. You may not share the information in OOC discussions. Government officials, you better be in that burning building. Independents are free to investigate on the side of justice. If you're the police, you better help with investigation! You can freely investigate in any direction you choose, you aren't limited to the MI6's pleas. Lawless... go try and get them plans. You want to destroy stuff, don't you? If you wish to sign up, you must be on your character's account and comment below your interest in the arc. ❖ Guidelines This is a Linear kind of event, an arc. All posts will be Linear. The staff will be many of the detailed NPCs. These NPCs move the arc path along. There is no set date to when this will end. You will know when the arc has ended. If you do something stupid, unlike the regular Linear stuff, you will be able to go back and try again, just like in video games. Don't do anything too stupid. We won't kill you, but when you sign up for the arc, we reserve the right to injure your character seriously. Be prepared to duke it out. Watch the Crown Royale Gazette a bit more closely. These flats aren't too bad. They aren't Cromwell Tower luxurious, but these flats are pretty comfortable to live in and they have a nice, generous amount of space. If you pay a bit extra, you can own yourself a penthouse suite. These flats are the obvious effort for London to keep up a modern image. If you want comfort and a bit room for style, Milford Flats are for you.

This area has a full view of the park! It's a pretty standard apartment that isn't too fancy. Anyone who can cope with uncertainty are recommended to stay. Some nights, it is tranquil and calm. Other nights, it can be crazy and loud due to the college students that stay here. The ambiance and the environment of the setting really depends on the academic calendar.
