004 : GUIDE TO NPCS |
❖ Yeah, I remember that one guy... NPC means Non Playable Character. Just like how in video games, they are the background characters. You don't get to play them, hence "Non-Playable". Rather, they are played by the Mods. They're those background people that make the world seem natural because your characters can't be the only ones in this world. They're the customers, the shop owners, the prostitutes, the thugs, the Queen... Yup. You can't play them, but you can interact with them (obviously). You'll benefit from making right decisions and forming friendships with NPCs. Of course, you can also piss them off and they'll make your lives more difficult. If you form a good relationship with the NPC, you can receive small items or trinkets or obtaining new found information (if you ask the right questions). These possibilities broaden and vary depending on the NPC's profession. If you form a bad relationship with the NPC, have fun. They'll scorn you and—depending on how much they hate you—they will do their best to prevent you from reaching your current goal. Usually, thugs and criminals won't have a very good relationship with Agents unless you're some saint that converts them from a life of crime. ❖ You should probably know that they... 1. NPCs will help or benefit you depending on their profession. If they're a restaurant owner, they'll give you food. If you happen to befriend the janitor, he might give you a badass fighting mop. 2. The more important / powerful the NPC is, the harder it will be to form a positive bond with them and the easier it will be to form a negative bond. It's difficult to become a friend of the Queen of England, but it's easy to become her enemy. If you're her enemy... ouch, good luck. 3. You won't be able to call the NPCs on your phone or e-mail them. 4. You cannot form romantic relationships with the NPCs. Even if they're hot. |
