Erik's fingers drifted over the surface of the
MSI Z87 MPower Max's laminated specs card, casting a critical eye at the top of the line motherboard that he had come out to buy for his latest build. It was only recently that he had upgraded from his previous laptop to a newer model, but it had been a good six months since he had even tended to his beautiful desktop. She needed a good cleaning, a few upgrades, and of course a new cooling system but Lukas had for once given him a budget on how much he was allowed to spend and he wasn't pleased. Twelve-thousand pounds was crippling, the new video cards he wanted costed five-hundred each! He had a credit card of course, a Coutts Purple World Mastercard. His father in all his luxury would only accept the finest, and for his children who lived in London it was the finest in the United Kingdoms.
It was to be supposed that Lukas wouldn't notice if he spent a few hundred more than agreed on, but he didn't want to antagonize his brother now. Especially after he had allowed him to go off shopping by himself for parts rather than hovering around him like the helicopter parent he usually was. There were terms of course, Eirik calling a taxi and not taking the tube home, and lastly Eirik texting him at every leg to keep him updated precisely where he was at all times. It frustrated him, he wasn't a child or anything like that, but he merely nodded and didn't bicker. Lukas would bring up the incident when he got lost trying to take the tube, and the argument would be cut short at that. It had been...months ago, but Luaks kept bringing it up like it had just happened hours prior. He had learned, it was a mistake, why couldn't his brother move on like he had?
But on another note, the motherboard was perfect and only 300 pounds, a pretty nice deal. But...if he wanted to upgrade to a new intel chip it would be more that half of his budget! His frustration grew as the prices bounced around his brain and he tried to come up with a solution that wouldn't compromise on any of the power that he wanted his computer to have. Eirik wasn't used to making compromises when it came to money in real life, games made it so easy to juggle cost and quality.
A soft sigh welled in his throat, small frame slumping for just a moment whilst he brushed his fair hair back off behind his ear and out of his eyes. He had taken care to try to disguise himself as usual, thick rimmed frames on his nose to assist with his nearsightedness already changing his usual appearance enough that no one would recognize him unless they knew him well. Eirik wasn't the public figure that his brother nor father was, but there was always the occasional photo that popped up and to be quite honest he wouldn't be sure how to handle people walking up to him. No one really seemed to expect that much from him, he wasn't the political pawn to kiss up to like his brother, and quite generally he seemed to be left far out of the public eye. He did know though that his father's publicist had quite the speech for when he eventually died, the file one he had come across more than once in his little explorations of the company servers. It had been edited many times over the years, and every now and then he would slip back over to scroll through it and see what was new. There was even a marketing campaign that was ready to launch before his body was could, but he had quickly closed the file without reading any further. Something about that made him feel...well he wasn't quite sure to be honest, but it wasn't anything good and he never made mention of it to Lukas.
Eirik though was looking rather inconspicuous with those thick frames, dark wash jeans, and a soft grey button down that was loosely tucked in to his waistband. It was different than the suits and contacts he was placed into for public events, and he felt that hair was a little more unruly, even if it did seem to lay like a dead fish over his forehead. He almost looked like any other teen, pale and willowy with hopelessly stiff movements
His light eyes narrowed into slits as he leaned in close to examine the specs of the computer part once again, not paying the slightest mind as he reached out for one of the rounded under the display and mistakenly grabbed another patron's wrist. It took Eirik a moment to notice, or a little more if one noticed that it took tugging the limb up to his chest and feeling resistance for him to even look up in a stunned silence.
"...You don't want that" was the hasty excuse tumbling from his lips, blood rushing to his cheeks as utter humiliation took hold. "It's not nearly as good as the..." he paused for a moment, glancing out of the corner of his eye at the next display of motherboards over. "As the X99-Deluxe. It's more versatile and can manage to do just about anything." It also cost a good 75 pounds more without a chip, and even more with the latter added in. It wasn't much better, multitasking was certainly not it's forte. Yet he tried to keep his expression neutral, still awkwardly holding his wrist.
