Eirik once again nervously smoothed down his hair and checked his appearance in the nearby window, making sure that not a strand was out of place. He wanted to look perfect, he wanted everything about it to be perfect to be honest. It was the first time he had ever pulled up the courage to do anything so daring, and with all the horror stories about meeting people from the internet in real life he had worked himself up into a bit of a tizzy. Not a word of his plan for the afternoon was mentioned to Lukas of course, he wanted to do it all by himself and his brother would surely pester him and come along if he had any indication that Eirik had plans.
Even if he hadn't mentioned it to his brother he had taken the time to research what the proper security measures one should take were, and the first on the list was where he was seated. A public meeting place, a coffee shop in this case, a Starbucks to be even more specific because there was an exit directly across from the bathroom so he could slip out after excusing himself if the need arose. He had even pinpointed another little coffee shop to wait in as he called a taxi to come get him, if anything bad happened and Lukas needed to hear about it at least he could say that he was covering all the bases with regards to his safety. That would surely lessen the scolding.
One last time he checked himself in the front window, brushing his hair to the side gently with his fingertips and adjusting the collar of his grey button down. For once he wasn't wearing sunglasses, the dim lighting in the coffee shop hardly bothering his eyes. Apparently it had become hip to have dim lights, convenient for him but surely frustrating for anyone who actually wanted to do anything off a brightly lit computer screen. It didn't make much sense, but there were far odder things that he didn't understand.
More importantly there was still the odd little fear that his online friend wouldn't show at all, and like he had considered many times they simply wouldn't show up. Looking like a fool sitting alone was not something he had planned on, so he been mindful to bring a book and have it open in front of himself to look like he was simply passing the time. He had planned on actually reading while he waited, but the butterflies in his stomach were more distracting that he could have ever imagined. What if they were crazy? Or horridly ugly! Or smelled like sewage?! He had read more than enough stories that led to the other party attempting some odd sort of sexual encounter. Most of the stories were about women meeting other women or men that had pretended to be women, but one could never be too careful.
Once more he checked his phone, making sure that he was at both the correct meeting place and the correct time. The other party was a little late it seemed, and once again he was worried that they had simply bailed out without a word. It would be unfortunate...he had been looking forward to meeting them...
His shoulders shook with a slight sigh, the thought making his face slip to a little more sullen of an expression.
