Just, wow. When I first read your app, you should have seen me spazzing out in the cbox with the other staff. You are amazing.
That unique trait of making her mute just stunned me, honestly. When people give such traits to characters, they usually like to play the 'woe is me' card but for Mi-Yun, it's like her driving force behind all her deeds. Just adsfghjk I can't wait to see how you will play her out. I really enjoy the traits you have input into her; most people are admittedly prejudice against North Korea and I have seen a few N. Korea where unreasonable hate and detestable traits was placed on the character, but you gave Mi-Yun a very fair spread of positive and negative traits.
All in all, this is a really brilliant app-- and I just found out that it's yours, Amy. BI LET ME LOVE YOU *KISSY KISSY FACE u3u* but AHEM, yes! I know I speak for everyone when I say we can't wait to roleplay with you, our new serial killer. <3
The name is Park. Park Mi-Yun.

| Park Mi-Yun 박 미연
"Silence is a true friend who never betrays."
One of the most mysterious women in London you will ever meet. Everybody had better watch their back...
|
CODE NAME: The Silencer 소음기 |
North Korean 조선인 | Librarian 사서 | Lawless 무법의 |
Dark brown | Slight tan | Athletic; petite |
Mi-Yun Park is a very strange character to most people. If you were to pass her by in the street, it is most likely you would never even notice her. She is silent; a shadow in the crowds who keeps herself to herself and never speaks up. In fact, Mi-Yun never speaks a single word to strangers. For those who do not know her, she appears to be mysterious, giving off an almost hostile atmosphere and a feeling of ambiguity to strangers with her soundless exterior. But, why does she maintain this strange silence? The answer is simple. She is mute, and so has always been a outcast in society. She keeps her head down and gets on with her own life, though. The only way for her to communicate is either by writing down on a pad she carries around with her, or typing into a small computer-like device she also has.
The woman is calm rational, always taking time to asses a problem or situation before jumping to conclusions and rushing into things. Her level-headedness, along with her lack of speaking, gives off a slightly creepy vibe about her to some. Add that to the poker-face she wears when concentrating (which is most of the time), and Mi-Yun is definitely mysterious. Some would say she is closed off; unfriendly towards anyone who judges her or jumps to conclusions about her because she is different. She portrays an air of confidence to those around her however, despite the fact that really, she’d much rather be away from the crowds and in a quiet place, reading or just day dreaming. Quite simply, Mi-Yun enjoys the solitude of her library in preference to company. She might be a bit of a loner in the eyes of others, but she doesn't care. Why should she?
The young woman is constantly radiating maturity, and clearly frowns upon anyone who lacks that quality or misbehaves. It is a well know fact that Mi-Yun is judgemental of those who do not take things seriously, and can become rather irritated and annoyed when somebody is messing around instead of working hard. Impatient with those who are getting on her nerves, Mi-Yun has proven countless times to be intolerant. It is also obvious that she follows a strong belief of honour, and is incredibly hard working, which is why recklessness gets on her nerves so much. Focused, most certainly. When she sets herself a goal, Mi-Yun will strive for it and refuse to let it go until she obtains it. She strives to learn and obtain more knowledge, and many people would describe her as nerdy; with her nose always stuck in a book and all her day spent in the library where she works. Yes, she has a keen thirst for knowledge and an active imagination. This is something that is hardly seen by the average passer-by, though. Such a shame, really.
To the rest of the world, Mi-Yun may just seem like a normal woman (excluding the inability to speak) who likes her privacy and prefers to be alone.
But you see, that is where the rest of the world is completely wrong.
If only they knew...
What Mi-Yun harbours beneath her silent exterior is... frightening. Dark. Deadly. Maybe the fact people would never imagine it is what makes it so very surprising. After all, who would ever suspect that a “harmless”, lonely and quiet librarian could be anything more than that? Would people ever stop and take a second glance at her and wonder to themselves, “Is that girl all she seems to be, or is there something more?” No. Of course they would not. And so, Mi-Yun’s true colours go completely unnoticed and ignored. She does not mind this one bit, however. Because what lies underneath is truly ugly. And if it was to be discovered, well, it would put an end to all the fun she has at night~
Firstly, she could be described as a “green-eyed monster”. Jealously is deep-seated within her, something that has been building up ever since she was a little girl. Mi-Yun cannot help but always feel an underlining jealously of everyone around her. She resents the fact that everyone else can speak and say exactly what they want, and sometimes wishes that somebody could know what it’s like to be mute so they understand her a bit more. In fact, there are those who laugh at her, mock her for her disability... and she has an emotion much more than envy towards them. Detest. A hate so strong, she wants nothing more than to rip out their throats and make them suffer with the linger silence she has to go through every day. Paranoia. Mi-Yun can always hear how people mutter and whisper about that strange quiet woman in the library. Oh, how she wants to shut them up as well. More than anything else in the world. The thought of silencing them all brings a dark smile to her face when nobody else is looking.
Then, there is a morbid fascination with death and pain. My, the thoughts she has sometimes are so very cruel. Her intrigue to learn causes her to want to experiment; learn about such mysteries that are constantly plaguing her thoughts and sparking her curiosity. A childish curiosity it is, but a twisted one at that. Mi-Yun takes sick pleasure in seeing others hurt~ It excites her; captures her attention and is enough to make her smile... And if she could laugh, she would laugh hard until her ribs broke. Her form of “fun” is enough to make most people completely horrified. For the things she takes enjoyment in are cruel, malicious. Things any normal person would never dare to imagine. But, Mi-Yun is hardly normal at all. She has a problem, and she knows it herself. A complete lack of empathy or remorse.
To sum it up simply for you; she is not the sort of woman you would want to meet in a dark alleyway, late at night. In fact, if you ever did see her stalking the streets when everyone should be sleeping, I would advise you to avoid her.
After all, nobody wants to run into a serial killer in the dark... |
*Stories: She is a book-worm who adores to be surrounded by all her books in the library. Her nose always seems to be stuck in books, and she has a love for fantasy stories or tales of the past. Reading indulges her active imagination, feeding it with vivid images that will always bring a noticeable spark to her eyes. Her favourite genre is crime, by far.
*Needlework: Mi-Yun loves any type of embroidery. It is really her main hobby, and she does things like occasionally making her own clothes, sewing up those teddy bears you can buy unfinished... even sewing peoples mouths shut.
*Horror: Mi-Yun has a morbid interest in horror stories. She herself does not find them scary, yet she loves to listen to them, read them or watch horror films.
*Secrecy: Why should the world know what you're up to, hm~? They should mind their own business, and leave you alone with your own thoughts. Besides, it's more fun to keep people guessing about what you're thinking about.
*Puzzles: They're a great way to stimulate the mind. Plus, they can be a lot of fun, if you don't get too frustrated with them. Luckily, Mi-Yun is able to keep a level-head with them, and is very talented at puzzles. She also enjoys the riddle, and may leave one lying on the ground for someone to pick up and try to solve after she has visited somewhere different.
*Quiet: Silence is golden, duct tape is silver~ Whilst her own silence frustrates her, when others are quiet she finds it surprisingly relaxing. If only more people could be quiet most of the time.
*Science: She has always been a curious person, and has a thirst for knowledge. Sciences were always her strongest subjects; Physics being her favourite. Astronomy and nuclear physics are fascinating to her. Then again, human anatomy isn't that bad either.
*Gymnastics: Mi-Yun is very good at gymnastics. She used to look forward to the annual Arirang Festival in North Korea when she was living there... Now she enjoys watching the gymnastics during the Olympics and occasionally goes to the local sports centre to practice gym herself. | *Immaturity: Immaturity just annoys her, especially when people don't think things through and put themselves in harms way. Seeing it actually makes her a little angry. People should try to act their age; then they'd be much less annoying.
*Gossip: People need to stop talking about her. Mi-Yun wants to make them all shut up! She knows they're all laughing at her behind her back; they're all talking and mocking her....
*Pens running out of ink: For most, this is only a minor annoyance. For Mi-Yun, on the other hand, this is a serious problem. Writing is her main form of communication, and if her pen runs out then she's stuck and unable to get what she wants to say across.
*Disorder: Mi-Yun is a little obsessive when it comes to keeping things clean, in order and organised. Everything must be kept as clean and tidy as possible and she goes to great lengths to keep it that way. Her room is always pristine, with everything neatly stacked away where it belongs. Mi-Yun also likes it when people are in order; keeping her daily routine regimented.
*Being different: It would be so much easier if she could just fit in better, but that's virtually impossible for Mi-Yun in the state she's in. People don't understand her, and probably never will.
*Heights: Although she hasn't a fear of heights, Mi-Yun always gets dizzy when she's up high. That just makes her feel sick, which nobody likes at all. No no, best to keep your feet firmly on the ground.
*Lack of control: The moment anything throws her off, the whole day is messed up for her. Never a good thing. Mi-Yun has an obsessive need to be in control of her own life, and does not want anyone interfering.
*Sugar: An excess of sugar is never a good thing for her. She tends to get sugar-rushes, and will go extremely hyperactive if given too much energy. Then she tends to loose a bit of self control, and that is never a good thing. Best just to avoid anything sweet. |
*To be Normal: Which is virtually impossible and a very far-fetched fantasy, but Mi-Yun does want to be considered "normal".
*Speech: Again, this is virtually impossible. Maybe a miracle cure will be discovered for her aliment soon...
*Sera liking Kimchi: She just can't understand why Sera doesn't like it, and hopes one day she will!
*Kill Everyone in London: ....... | There is not much Mi-Yun is actually scared of. If anything, her fears are more like minor annoyances that occasionally play on her mind.
*Getting discovered: This is her biggest "worry", but even that is not a major problem for her (maybe she's a little over-confident...). But, if she was to get caught, Mi-Yun would not be able to continue with her little... "hobby", and she might end up in some trouble~ And oh dear, that would be no good at all! How would she be able to have any fun any more, hm?
*Westerners: Is she racist? Oh no! She simply does not trust them. Can you blame her, though? It really is to do with where she was brought up, and the culture of her homeland. But even so, she tends to keep her head down (which is most of the time, living in the UK) whenever she sees a European or American... Call it instinct, if you will. But she will never let a Westerner know what is really going on in her head.
*The Media: All those cameras being shoved in her face... If Mi-Yun was ever caught, they wouldn't leave her alone, would they? Oh, such a breach of privacy. |
The Park family were a surprisingly influential family in North Korea, dating far back to when their ancestors were some of the members of the government aiding the Kim family. So when Mi-Yun was born, her parents both hoped she would become influential in the country when she grew up. Both hoped to have a daughter who would inherit the family tradition of obtaining a high status for the family. However, things hardly ever go according to plan.
At first glance, Mi-Yun seemed like a normal child. She was curious, playful, attached to her mother's hip. But there was always something slightly off about her. And for the first year of her life, her parents couldn't put a finger on it. By the time she was two, though, they had worked out exactly what the matter was. Despite still being young, Mi-Yun still hadn't learnt to talk. Many people tried reassuring the family that it wasn't a problem, that it just takes longer for some children... but the Parks just knew something wasn't right. So, after much debating on the subject, Mi-Yun was taken to the best Doctor in Pyongyang. And what he told them shattered the family dreams of Mi-Yun's future in an instant.
The little girl was mute.
Her vocal chords had never fully developed when she was born, preventing her from speaking. Mi-Yun's parents both knew that having such a disability would make it hard, almost impossible for Mi-Yun to actually become hugely successful. For how could a child with a disability ever fit into society? Despite the huge problem facing her family, Mi-Yun's mother and father both decided to do all they could to try and fix the problem. They taught Mi-Yun to communicate through simple sign language, and encouraged her to write as a means of speaking. All the while Mi-Yun's father constantly dragged her along to formal events, surrounding her with other members of high rankings to get the child used to the lifestyle of Korea.
Yet, even though the family really made an effort to try and make things easier for Mi-Yun, there was still something off about her. She became distant over time, spending hours locked away in her room, refusing any form of human contact. The child was... strange. Other children avoided her. None of the kids at her school wanted to be her friend. There must have been something about her that frightened the other children, but her parents did not know what it was.
That was until the day her mother followed Mi-Yun out into the garden to see what she was doing. It was summer, late afternoon, when the parents saw the little girl (of only about six) sneak off into the depths of the over-grown far end of the garden with something hidden up her sleeve. Confused, the mother followed... And was horrified by what she saw when she found her daughter.
Mi-Yun, for some unknown reason, had slit the throat of the neighbours cat.
This was the straw that broke the camels back. Her parents couldn't deal with a troubled child like Mi-Yun, no matter how much she was loved by them. They arranged for her to be secretly shipped off to England on her seventh birthday, so she could get the best psychiatric help she could receive.
In England, she attended a boarding school and saw a psychiatrist every week. Whilst it seemed things were improving, she was still secretly collecting small animals and... experimenting with them whenever she had an opportunity to be alone. This, however, was hidden by her exceptionable grades at school. The teachers were impressed, and her troubles soon were forgotten by the staff. Despite the fact she never interacted with any of her classmates.
Over time, though, Mi-Yun became bored with playing with animals to keep her... tendencies in check. Instead, she started to get other thoughts. The Korean was well aware of the fact the other girls and boys gossiped about her all the time. And she was fed up with it. No, she was furious. She wanted to silence them all! Make them shut up! Make them stop talking about her--!!!
The body of Miranda Smith was found on the last week of school, in the dumpsters behind the school cafeteria. Her throat had been slit; vocal-chords severed and finally, her mouth had literally been sewn shut. She had been permanently silenced. It was a gruesome sight that shook the school to its core. Although rumours spread along the corridors and at the lockers, there was no conclusive evidence of who committed such a crime.
Mi-Yun Park left school with all the other students as if nothing had happened. And she discovered she had found a new... "hobby". There was no denying the rush she had felt when she had killed Miranda Smith. The adrenalin, the excitement, it all went soaring through the roof! She wanted more.
She couldn't resist temptation.
Mi-Yun had managed to keep her stifle her quench for blood throughout university... but the moment she left, got herself a job, she couldn't stop herself.
Once every month, somebody has been killed in the same way as Miranda Smith had been all those years ago. The police gave the serial killer the name "The Silencer". Mi-Yun finds it rather fitting.
Don't you agree? |
So far, February had been rather unsuccessful. Usually the job would have been done much earlier in the month than this late. It was a little irritating, really. After all, Mi-Yun didn’t want the police to think she was being lazy, taking a break or had for some reason decided to stop her hobby. No, she had to keep them on their toes. This little game of cat and mouse she had been playing with them for the last few years was far too fun to stop anytime soon.
Lurking in the shadows, just like a predator hunting its prey, the woman waited. She went unseen to the rest of the world and unrecognisable, with her face hidden behind a simple black mask that camouflaged her into the night-time darkness perfectly. Her dark eyes briefly glanced over to the clock situated over the market. Twenty minutes past midnight. Perfect.
Portobello Road was desolate at this time. There was hardly a single sign of life, save for herself and the odd passerby. Still, Mi-Yun was confident that somebody would only stroll into the area in at least ten minute intervals. It was the opportunity she had been waiting for all month to commit the perfect crime. No witnesses, no crowds. Just her, The Silencer; the predator who was stalking the streets of London as it hunted for its next kill.
The woman blinked in the darkness and pulled the hood of her black pull-over back over her head to hide herself deeper in shadow. Drawing in a quick breath and placing a hand on the bag at her side to make sure she had everything she needed, the woman took a step forward. Slinking slightly outside of the shadows, the killer glanced down the street and waited for some poor unsuspecting soul to pass her by.
Tonight was going to be fun~ |
