Amelia B. Jones. It has an unforgettable appeal, one that might make one wonder, ‘what’s in that name?’ Playing coy, being enigmatic, or just abbreviating it for the style? It’s a bit of all three. In fact, her middle name used to be one of the many things about herself she was not proud of. Faults, insecurities, and social pressures—Amelia had it all and she had every right to conceal a part of herself away. Brownell. It has somewhat of an old, out-of-the-century appeal to it. Similarly to the chemistry of her name, her whole persona works by the same concept. Despite the youthfulness of her appearance, she does certainly have that inner maturity from an olden time. With that said, Amelia is unique and in the aspects of her endearing traits and hard faults that define her as an individual. + Bubbly/Optimistic: Spunk! She's got a whole lotta that. She's excitable, dorky at times, ditzy during other times. Of course it's never too overbearing because she definitely does not take that 'dumb blonde' archetype too well. Yet she's very openly cheerful, especially to friends and family. The source of her happiness stems from her endless pool of optimism. She's always very imaginative, hopeful, and determined. Amelia was raised, nestled in an environment that gave her a lot of praise and encouragement. "You were born to achieve greatness!" is the statement she constantly tells herself over and over upon every trial and tribulation she encounters. She's not self-centered; she just believes in the philosophy that anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind and soul to it. Amelia is good at adhering to her own philosophy. + Friendly: Though Americans are sometimes depicted as a bunch of rude and classless individuals, she seriously challenges that stereotype by being herself. Amelia is definitely a mix of sugar, spice, and everything nice. She's usually sweet-tempered, good-humored, and inclusive. Ever heard of the 'Southern hospitality'? Basically, American culture once depicted the Southerners as those humble and down-to-earth people who greet people with a bright grin, holding fresh pecan pie with oven mitts. Well Amelia won't greet everybody with pecan pie, but she's surely the type to go up to someone and introduce herself with a bright grin. It's usually followed by a, "How do you do?" or maybe even a compliment, "You look really cute today!". Maybe it's not always a compliment, but her friendly nature really shines through whenever she interacts with others. + Charismatic: Talkative! Maybe not too much but Amelia loves to talk and voice her opinions. To her, she has every single right to say exactly what she wants--so long it is diplomatic, of course. Her crafty, edgy, witty, and sometimes manipulative way with words is the main reason why she made it through law school, after all. In addition, these assets have been exemplified outside of academics. In daily life, Amelia takes up most of her day with socializing via Facebook, text messaging, Skype, face-to-face, anything you can think of. Despite being a bad listener, Amelia makes up by just being a charmer with what she says. + Down-to-earth: Arrogant? Not really. Flamboyant? Not exactly. See, she always gets sorta annoyed whenever foreigners become surprised with how simple she is. Well 'annoyed' has too much of a negative connotation; more of, she's just unhappy that she had been unfairly labeled with a stereotype as a first impression. Amelia is American, she's proud of it, but she can't be categorized as an 'oblivious, self-centered primadonna with fake boobs and tattooed eyebrows'. Amelia is humble but confident. Simple but quirky. Straight-forward. Unpretentious. Accepting. Sometimes she makes mistakes and acts completely opposite from the norm, but she's human too! + Active: Everything is instantaneous with her! Her decisions. Quick. Her actions. Done in a snap. Her head works with an incredibly fast pace. She can conjure arguments in seconds because of the extensive and organized database that is her mind. Amelia is, by far, not a genius, but her capacity to do this is because of how hard she trains her mind, body, and spirit. Her exercises a lot and occupies herself in various of activities to keep herself healthy and emotionally stable. Therefore, she's always walking around, doing something, talking about something. There are times she likes to slow down and relax but for the most part, she's always ready to spring back up on 'Go' mode. • Nosy: Oh yes, she is always up on someone's business. Her curiosity can really, really give her the incentive to nose around business she doesn't belong in. A new romance? Scandals? Drama?! She's got to follow it all! Amelia just loves to know what everything goes on and would sometimes unintentionally gossip about it. It's no wonder why she's into those reality TV shows with the celebrities and whatnot. "I like it because it's fun to see how dumb they are!" she claims. • Independent: Amelia. Gosh it's impossible to imagine her as anything else but self-sufficient. She really is the embodiment of independence, which is both an asset and a fault. Amelia rarely asks for help out of stubbornness and out of self-confidence. She's always saying, "Everything is going to be okay"; usually, everything does turn out according to her word because she tries very hard to see her promise be executed. She's okay with having others rely on her (frankly, she wants others to rely on her) but she would rather rely on herself to get things done right. - Brash: Being a passionate idealist sometimes overrides her charisma and grace. Amelia can sometimes come off pretty strong because of how vigorous she can be. She can easily lose social tactfulness if she really puts the spirit into it. Worst case scenarios involve her being oppressive, hypocritical, demanding, and accusatory towards others who challenge her viewpoints. It is rare to see her with a jagged edge, but Amelia totally has the capability to run on a short fuse. - Naive: Ah, growing up in the countryside did nurture Amelia enough to make her romanticize a lot of things. Yes that hearty concept in the 'American dream' and the 'Manifest destiny' of American history is symbolically embedded in her mindset. She believes in good, not evil. She believes in righteousness, human virtues, and idea of 'innocent until proven guilty'. Despite the looming darkness of America's new-founded social, economic pessimism, and distrust of American government, Amelia holds herself in high-spirits that everything will turn out to be "just fine". This does sometimes shroud her judgment and narrows it down. The realistic viewpoint strays her sight sometimes, which usually ushers in pretty bad consequences. The only light that counters this is her resilience. Though reality can hit like a A.H. Fox HE Grade shotgun to the shoulder, she's always able to ricochet. Still, it doesn't change the fact that this naivety may sometimes be irksome to others. - Dramatic: Ahh she over-exaggerates! Everything can escalate like a rising souffle because of how descriptive and how 'into-it' she can sometimes be. Everything has got to be big for her. Food portions, theater acts, advertisements, stories--everything. has. to. be. dramatic. Out there! Unique. Blazin' with lurid colors. It is simply good advertising. And that is how Amelia works. - Domineering: Everything has to be done right, her way or the highway! When it comes to business, she is all about it. This is evident in the way she socializes or directs. Her goal whilst talking is always to inform and to persuade! They've just gotta get into her perspective, into her stance. Though she admires the free will to believe, she feels the her way is kind of more superior. Now she isn't pompous or anything--it's more of 'nudging people to the right direction'. - Assertive: Confident! Hm! She believes that she's right almost all of the time, even though she does not show it often to keep up her appearance. She won't hesitate to direct if she sees a problem. By the same token, she won't be stalled upon the sight of a challenge because she'd tackle it right away. When it's her time behind the pedestal, she speaks with power. Well, Amelia believes she has worked hard enough to secure a place in the world and she is not afraid to darn show it! - Sassy: Out of the professional life, she's pretty kind and cool. Rile er up the wrong way and she'll burn with the intensity of the stars. All fifty of them! Amelia is, by God, no push-over. She can probably take in teasing and slights with little problem, but when she sees injustice upon others, she'll take out the shotgun. Yeah, she can be like a spitfire with words as hard as steel bullets to the heart. In addition, she can humorously dish out some pretty convincing accents and slang to embellish her sassy behavior. - Defensive: Offend her? Amelia has the capability to be utterly defensive about... a lot of things. Point out a flaw and she'll probably whip out every line of defense or something to justify its nature as it is. To her, everything has a reason and a justification. So it's a no-brainer if you question a lawyer as her and then hear a fully fleshed-out statement about it. It's just the way Harvard programmed her. |

Food: It's a given. She loves food. Food loves her. Being a Texan, Amelia can fry almost anything and eat it. Fried chocolate? Been there done that. Fried ice-cream? Pshh. Fried butter? You got that right. It's unhealthy, but it is so damn good. Hotdogs, popcorn, and cola is also another all time favorite during movies, outings, bonfires, and on the ball game! Countryside: She loves the countryside. Amelia always feels very free and open in the slowness and stillness of nature. This is the environment she had grown up in. She traded her life in the countryside and farms for her dreams and aspirations. Amelia still misses seeing the open field and tries to go out there every time she can. Comic books: Oh yeah she loves to geek out over latex superheroes. As a teen, Amelia used to go 'all-out' during conventions such as Comic con (usually in San Diego). She doesn't have as much free time as she used to. However she still has a large collection of Marvel and DC stuff, a stash she would not trade for anything in the world. Star Trek and Star Wars:Okay it's hard for her to choose a side, but let's say she knows almost everything about both series. Yep. Everything. Don't even question her. Make a 'Trekkie' reference and she'll laugh like a dork. God she's just a dork in general ok. Road trips: Amelia has literally driven by every single state. Alaska too. Yes. Her family used to go on trailer road trips all the time during the summer. The fondest of her memories include needing to use the restroom during 6 hour car rides while listening to a long playlist that includes her favorites, 'The Journey' and '1000 miles'. Motorcycles: Harley-Davidson motorcycles are her all time favorite. Amelia just loves American-made stuff in general and to her, the original motorcycles are her favorite. Of course she still likes to marvel at other models and the latest of models, just as a hobby. She doesn't ride one, even though she really wants to. Baseball: She's a baseball girl and she loves to play/be a part of it. Amelia's got a good hand with the baseball bat and a keen eye with a glove. Country music: Yeah she totally rocks out country music in her yellow Volkswagen Beetle. She doesn't like Taylor Swift that much, sorry. She's not a real country singer. Track and field: Amelia's hobby is sprinting. She loves to feel the thrill of it, out on field. Yep, here she can prove her superiority without any consequence. Being the victor is always the best feeling in the world. Sunshine: Sunshine! Her favorite sort of weather. It kind of sucks that the weather so dreary and gray in London. Amelia usually can suck up energy from sunlight, but seeing that there isn't so much in London, she has to make do with the sugars from her food. Justice: Well that's a given right? Amelia had always been fascinated with the essence of law and how it affects civilization. To be honest, it is still an obscure concept she tries to define and understand. Philanthropy: Amelia's a softie and she cares about people. Yes. Most of the time. | Using public restrooms: Ew she never liked this. It always feels weird and cramped and gross. Amelia can never shake off the thought of how unclean it really is. Glasses: She always thought glasses makes her look weird. She prefers contacts over wearing these specs, but if she has to, then she'll wear it. She wont wear it much in public though because she's a little insecure about it. However she usually likes it when other people wear glasses. Rude assumptions: Blonde hair, blue-eyed, attractive, and American, Amelia had often been faced with prejudice. Being in a woman in Harvard is the first fact that raises flags. Many in the past had jokingly asked whether she 'did favors' to stay in the school. She won't lie in saying that she had offers, but not once had she taken any. In fact, it pisses her off that such an offhanded accusation can come so easily. Don't say that Amelia go through life easy. It makes her mad. Injustice: Obvious. Dust: Somehow she always associates dust with hunger and uncleanliness. Don't know why but she doesn't like dusty things. Ignorance: It bugs her to no limit. Jerkfaces: Well that's a given too! People who are just mean are surely to elicit a little something from her! Prejudice: It is disturbing to her how cruel people can be to one another. She recoils at the sight of this kind of untamed cruelty. |

To meet the Mr. Kirkland: A-Ah maybe it's... just a little thing. Yes... no it's just a crush! Actually, she had been following British politics ever since she had decided to do a research paper on British politics during her third year in Harvard. Ever since, she had grown to very much love Arthur Kirkland, one of the politicians in the UK. How his words moved her so! Just a word on the street... a part of the reason why she had moved over to UK was to 'have a hands-on experience with British politics and the legal system---and possibly be able to meet Arthur Kirkland'. Be surrounded by friends; Amelia loves to adore others and loves to be adored. She's not ashamed to admit that. All she wants to do is go everywhere and make friends with as many people as she can to establish life-long relationships and add more moments of happiness into the chapters of her life. If anything, she wants to touch other people's lives to improve them! Contribute to human advancement: Amelia dreams of being able to improve the lifestyle of people everywhere in the world. This is a really far-fetched 'dream', she is sure, but there had never been an obstruction that made her stop dreaming. Amelia wants to be able to play a part in defining what true justice is, because she believes that living person has a natural right to freedom and fair justice. | Dependency: She likes the way she is and how she works. Amelia sees her self-sufficient nature as one of the most defining facets in her personality. She's proud of who she is and how she got her place and would be in ruins were she to lose everything. Failure: This fear is a natural one from such an diligent and achievement-oriented woman. Amelia tries her best to not half-ass anything because she truly does put a little bit of herself in everything she does. Public speaking: It's funny. Well public speaking is the #1 fear in America. Amelia is inwardly nervous every time before court. It's a feeling that never goes away, despite the numerous amount of times she had given an oration. Her worst of all fears would be screwing up really bad in front of countless of people. Read more: tomorrowneverdies.proboards.com/post/new/1020#ixzz2XBVOqKLb |
Background |
Amelia was born and raised in Trenton, Texas, where she stayed until her call to go to college. The community thought of her as one of the most memorable denizens of the city. She was the small-town girl with golden braided pigtails, tanned skin, and the biggest of smiles, the young and carefree heart that would always be working around the farm. She was the pretty, pretty daughter of a 6-feet man with a shotgun, a man who'd probably shoot first and ask questions later. She was a simple girl who always wore red shoes to Sunday mass. It was hard to miss the head of curly blonde hair. The little 'Dolly' of Trenton. Most of her life revolved around her family. Her religious family consisted of conservative, trigger-happy folks who were either always happy or always angry. Loud noise and merrymaking was not a stranger in the tiny community. In fact, Amelia can pretty much say that a good sum of the people in the city were like family to her. Everyone seemed to gravitate towards her because of her vigor and youthfulness. Most of the family friends were helpful, unique, and friendly--with the occasional hooligan---but it can be safely said that her childhood was good. Except she could not voice out her preferences. From childhood to adolescence, she always dreamed big yet had always bottled it up because of social pressure. She always reached out for the stars at night. The sky was where she wanted to be. They morally conservative community had a different culture mindset, however. Women were suggested to choose from a list of jobs and hobbies. Being a pilot wasn't exactly one of them. Liking 'boy stuff' could brand a girl as a hussy. "Be a nurse," they suggested, "A teacher. A chef. A babysitter." Just somehow, everything in life was categorized as 'feminine' and 'masculine'--in other words, 'permitted' and 'off-limits'. It was just the way the community ran. Everybody tried to convince everyone else by the best interests of the town. It was a harmless state of the mind everybody conformed to. The idea of gender differences were deeply ingrained. Women were meant to do this. Men were meant to do that. Amelia struggled with this concept. She didn't take it like how the other kids did. The girl wanted to be different yet she also didn't want to be different. She was stuck in a little mud-pit of conflicting idealism in a town of people that could turn their back in her in an instant. Her father was the root of this; he was the stonewall, the man who could not be convinced. He did everything for his daughter so that she could avoid being a social outcast--everything in every way she did not want. Despite all of his efforts, he could not inject this perspective into Amelia's head. On the other hand, Molly, her mother, was probably the only one who understood her daughter's woes. The mother and daughter were nearly identical in every possible way. Strong-willed, diligent, stubborn, these two gals walked by the same footsteps. It was because of her mom's encouragement, Amelia was able to find the confidence and strength to do things her own way. Amelia started small. Defiance and rebelliousness grew with every passing birthday. Instead of being the submissive 'Dolly' everybody knew and loved, she became more and more rough and outspoken. While she gained respect, she also received some negative feedback, which led her to fall in numerous pitfalls and trouble. In addition, she and her father did not get in any better terms, however. It seemed like every day was another shotgun raised at one another. Happiness was just dissolving, forming more drama in its wake. It was so bad, Amelia gave up on being a pilot, a fireman, a motorcycle stuntwoman--all of her dream jobs. The oppression was just too much. Everyone she knew except for her mother were trying to write down her own life. And so Amelia set off during the summer of her Junior year in High School to do her own soul searching. Only seventeen years old, she drove off to travel around the Sunbelt (Southern states) on her own with the money she had saved up. This trip honestly meant everything to her. She was able to see what she had never seen before. People. Different races, ethnicity, lifestyles. And people. People who told her that she could do it. Amelia felt like she was alive for the first time during that summer on her own. She did what she wanted to do and somehow found her way in a court hearing. It was her call. When she returned back to Trenton, Amelia was welcomed with news of a familial economic crisis. It wasn't a sudden thing; frankly, the family had been doing worse over the past years due to the competitiveness of food companies. Because their family includes a bunch of conservative farmers, all of them didn't switch over to the factories or anything at all. Instead, they chose to be organic, free-range farmers who did things by their conscience and dignity for their animals and customers. The Jones family had prided over that, all until the money began to widdle away. The food industry was and still is very powerful. it is dominated by a few big corporations that control the entire monopoly of produce, and their reigns are tight around at least 95% of the farmers in the country. Monsanto was a powerhouse that controlled all of the seed production. They wanted to seize Trenton and turn it into a factory, a slaughterhouse in the middle of a green pasture. They were like a mafia. These powerful people controlled every farmer that was in their shade. Her father signed a 4 year contract, and these four years were awful. There were so many restrictions, so many taxes, and so much of everything that it really put a strain in the living style of the family. Even worse, Monsanto was winning the cases. Neighboring farmers fell to Monsanto and their contracts. When Amelia realized how cruel and horrible these corporations were, she affirmed that there was only one way to beat them: to become a lawyer. Not only did she want to find more freedom for her family, she also wanted to rectify things and change how people interpret the law. She wanted going to put this mindless gender discrepancy to an end. The drive to her aspiration was her desire to protect those without a voice. So set on this track, Amelia went ahead and applied for Harvard, even though she was told that she wasn't going to make it. Money was the biggest issue, but the gal put her heart out in scholarships for every extracurricular opportunity she could get her hands on. When she did get accepted, she left and promised the people of Trenton that she will get rid of Monsanto once and for all. It was all an experience to her. Just another obstacle. Living in the bustling North was not an easy obstacle to hurdle either. Despite all of that, Amelia never really stopped going forward with her chin high. Her career has begun in London, England, and she's doing a lot of research on food industries in Europe. She was able to work closely with a few high ranking members from the food corporations in the United Kingdom. This is where she is beginning to build her case, so it is just the beginning for her. |
