[cs=3] Personality | ||
[cs=3] Delicate – She’s very tall and imposing, but she has a deceptively delicate touch when she handles things. She dislikes being rough with things in general because recklessness doesn’t often get the job done. Meticulous/Perfectionist – Down to the last drop, Anya’s attention to detail is so focused she hardly misses anything. Of course she has to be to make sure everything goes as planned. Everything. Must. Be. Perfect. This isn't even limited to just experiments or papers. Actions, people. Things must go a certain way for her to feel comfortable with the world around her and she will make every attempt to ensure things go the way she wants. Excitable – New things excite her. She’s always on a quest for new discoveries or new friends. Though she might seem overdramatic or overexaggerated, she is merely stricken with constant elation when things go her way. She flips her mood like a lightswitch, though. An abrupt, bad ending turns her happy exterior into one of utter disappointment. “… I need to rework my calculations.” She will say sadly. Social – She tries, anyway. Anya enjoys making friends and the company of others, but seems to lack a general grasp of the basics. She has no real concept of personal space, treating others the way she would like to be treated – meaning she is very touchy, huggy, and makes sincere efforts to be as personable as possible. This generally falls flat on its face, because not many people other than herself would treat touching and hugging complete strangers as a common activity. Sensitive – When things do not go her way, particularly socially, Anya gets depressed easily. This happens a lot, and it causes a lot of extreme, uncalled-for emotions. She may resent a person for rejecting her advances (all she wanted was to be friends), or if she finds someone particularly interesting she may pursue them regardless of how they feel about her. She doesn’t cry often, but expect her to be depressed or angry for a good while after the fact. Passive-Aggressive – Though generally good-natured and (somewhat) easy to talk to, the more you piss her off, the more mean-spirited her comments get. She won’t throw a punch at you but damn will she insult the hell out of you back-handedly. Patient - Thankfully, Anya is pretty patient. She has to be in order to get through failed experiments in order to get the result she wants. There is an ending to her patience that is normally difficult to find unless you try really hard. Control-Oriented – Anya’s field of study leaves very little room for variables, in such a way that the slightest miscalculation could result in serious consequences. Anya likes knowing exactly what she is doing, what others are doing, and how exactly things work, even if she has to force those situations to happen exactly as she wants. She does not like the feeling of uncertainty or second-guessing herself. Jealous - As hard as Anya tries to get along with everyone, she can’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy in her when other people spurn her efforts and prefer the company of others. She’s nice, she really is! So why is it when she tries to be nice no one ever wants her around. Is she scary or something? Competitive - And when Anya is jealous (or otherwise challenged) she becomes combative and absolutely needs to win. She is above cheating, though. If she’s going to prove herself better she’d like to know she is actually better without needing to play dirty. Logical – She’s a thinker, an explorer, a seeking of the unknown. She’s the kind of person that will mull over the consequences of an action before making decisions. She has a good head on her shoulders and a capable brain, decent at riddles and she solves a mean Rubix Cube. Secretive - Anya does not like to divulge anything about herself that she deems too important for the public. On the other hand, she prefers knowing everything about everyone else and finds it insulting if people don't trust her. In fact, she insists. Active - Don't expect her to be out lifting or walking on a treadmill when she isn't working with dangerous chemicals or doing science. You can, however, find her spending a lot of her free time with her dogs, whether she is walking with them, running with them, or playing. Having three active baby huskies is a lot of work! Deceptively Strong - She’s a tall lady, sure, but she doesn’t appear built under her layers of coats and clothes. Anyone unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of her hugs will be subjected to unbridled love and affection – this meaning she will squeeze the utter life out of you. Not because she’s inhuman or anything, but because when someone lets her she puts allI of her love into them. Beware. | ||

Warmth - Russia, though sprawling and spanning several time zones and climates, has the tendency to get really, really cold. Anya doesn’t like the cold, but at least London is warmer than her hometown was. She can’t stand the cold at all, and is often seen packing herself into enough layers of clothing to make her seem much larger than she actually is. She will often complain about the layers, saying she wouldn’t mind living in a hot place even if it meant having to strip down every once in a while. Fire - What chemist doesn’t enjoy fire? Of course, fire and explosions often are the result of bad experiments, but Anya makes it a point to find such bad experiments and exploit them for money and science! Sunflowers - They look happy, and their name describes them perfectly. Petals emulating rays of the sun, Anya imagines them with bright, happy faces as they follow the path of earth’s life-giving star across the sky. They are her favorite flowers purely for this reason, and would love to have a garden of them someday. However, like every flower they must periodically die and wilt, process that makes her feel very sad and depressed. Therefore, she reasons that a garden of sunflowers is probably a bad idea. She can’t really take care of plants anyway. Yellow - Actually, she just really enjoys the color yellow. Of course, sunflowers trump them all, but she also loves the color and just about anything it is involved with. Vodka - This woman loves her vodka. Her current profession has influenced her to moderate a bit more than she used to, but she can’t deny herself the liquid for long. She normally drinks at least once a day to keep her going, but might indulge more if in the company or others or if she’s guaranteed a vacation. Her favorite vodka flavor is marshmallow. Competition – Competition is what drives her to do better than everyone else. A good challenge is always welcome from someone worthy of her – if it’s doing an activity she considers herself good at! Testing - Seeing her handiwork in the hands of others, functioning as planned? That is an amazing feeling. Puppies! - Anya adores any small, fuzzy, cutie-patootie animal, but she has a particular soft spot for Siberian huskies. That said, the only thing better than a Siberian husky is a husky pup, of which she owns three. She takes a lot of pride in her babies and walks them as often as she can because she simply enjoys showing off how cute they are. She will still love them when they get older (“One day you will be big and strong and we will go sledding together!”) but she savors the months of them being small. Puzzles - Particularly her Rubix Cubes. This is another ones of those stress-reliever activities she'll do out of habit. She's gotten good enough at solving them to be able to do so very speedily, and she often pulls one out while travelling. Charm~ - Anya is picky about any lovers she might take. After all, some men she might simply overpower and domineer, and that isn't fun - especially if they don't fight back. That said a charming man and a free drink or two could possibly get her attention. How far you manage to take her depends entirely on how she judges your character. Make no mistake, this is not a woman that dives into bed with an inexperienced or weak-minded lover. | Second Chances - Meaning, the chances she gives to others. On the flip side, she enjoys being given as many chances as one can offer, because she screws up first impressions a lot. When it comes to other people she simply would prefer to ditch someone and not deal with them. Losing - She is quite the sore loser! Competition drives her to do better, and so does losing, but she really does not like admitting she was wrong or inferior. If there ever comes a contest she participates in that she does not win, she will make excuses to try and explain or rationalize it in such a way that might lessen the blow, even if it means saying the opposition cheated or she made a fluke mistake that doesn’t happen often. Being Told what to Do - Even if she is told what to do, she generally doesn't listen. If anything, Anya's the boss and she'll always imagine she is. Especially around her work station where her word is law. Anxiety - It's easy to tell when Anya is anxious because she taps. Her foot, her finger, either or, or sometimes even both at the same time. Normally being anxious also means she is stressed or worried and she has many ways of working off this feeling, from cuddling something adorable like a puppy or a plush, to doing random calculations on a sheet of scratch paper. Awkward Silences - They just make her feel as if she's ruined yet another plausible conversation and then she's struggle to regain the conversations former normalcy, if indeed it existed. Unenthusiastic Testers - Honestly, if you're going to test the things she develops you could at least act happy about it. Bad Puppies! - Her babies are angels, but Anya does not like dogs that misbehave! If she tells a dog to get the hell down she expects it to happen. Reptiles - Eeuguugh they're slimy, how can you even touch those! Idiots touching her stuff - For the love of all things bright and holy, keep your hands off her beakers, jars, chemicals, and elements. You don't know how this stuff works, so don't screw it up by doing whatever you want with it! | Nikolai - Perhaps he’s changed, perhaps he hasn’t. His romantic advances, which would eventually halt, were the primary driving force behind her wanting to leave her family and get out on her own as quickly as possible. She loves her brother as much as any sister would and should, but there were times when he legitimately scared the shit out of her, and she is still very fearful and distrusting of having him around. Her hair catching fire - Her hair is always, always, pulled up, braided, something. This is because she's afraid of getting chemicals or fire anywhere near it. This is actually a fairly new fear she's absorbed from television, watching how damaged the hair could get or even how difficult it would be to put out. Alternatively, she's also afraid of experiments blowing up in her face in general. Dystychiphobia - Meaning, she fears the potential for accidents to happen. Particularly while working with dangerous chemicals, a single slip-up could prove deadly. There isn't much she is afraid of otherwise, but in this case an accident could be irreparable. |

[cs=3] History |
[cs=3] Born in Moscow, Russia, the second child of three, the family Anya grew up with had a tendency to move around, but when she was young Anya never understood why. She never made it a point of interest but why should she when she was happy otherwise? She knew for a fact the family did not stay in Russia for all three births of herself and her siblings, having settled in Belarus at some point for the birth of her younger brother. As a child, Anya was fairly timid and soft-spoken, needing the careful affection and attention of her older brother to get her by. For a good portion of their time together it was only them and their mother and father, the latter of whom was a clockmaker who employed the help of his children in order to teach them how to earn their keep through work. Her younger brother was born there in Belarus, and her mother died only a handful of years afterward, shaking Anya. Disturbing, however, was the lack of emotion coming from the youngest sibling who, as soon as he hit puberty, began to romantically pursue the then teenaged Anya. Him being her brother, she was less than interested in him, and spurned him at every turn. He was persistent. This did have a positive effect on her life, if only in the fact that it encouraged her to work that much harder in school to ensure she could get out of Belarus and into the rest of the world. When the family later moved to London to continue their father’s business which, while passably lucrative at first, could not stay on its feet forever. As the business began to collapse, so did the family’s ability to feed itself, resulting in Anya and her siblings selling most of what they owned in order to keep the family from starving. The youngest took extreme measures to save his family, while Anya continued to work hard at her grades in an attempt to make something more of herself in life. She was intelligent, her grades top-notch, and as soon as she was able she pooled money (scholarships or otherwise) she managed to land herself a spot in a college. Anya excelled in chemistry and mathematics, seeming to have a natural knack with numbers that made them the logical choices for her majors in university. She refused to follow her brother when he disappeared into the underworld, but somehow found herself on the opposite side of the spectrum applying her skills to equipment with M16, the very people who made a living out of tracking down people like her sibling. Anya does a number of things with her profession, analyzing explosive residue, poisons, reverse-engineering of the two, incendiary weaponry, with a few destructive hobbies of her own dealing with pyrotechnics. |
