Looking at the other man for a moment as he spoke about a backlash for getting something like this, lingering the gaze as if he was trying to see if the other was joking or not, despite the laugh, a chilling feelings fell over him that no, he wasn't maybe joking about it. "Money, Michael, it can do a lot more than violence." He kindly pointed out, his family, and this whole lab was the proof of that. Also the status on a lot of people in the government.. Especially the candidates for the president, even some of the presidents, didn't come that far by just sheer luck and some violence.
"Just because the future isn't bright nor close, doesn't mean one can't dream of what they want. A dream is better than nothing." He shrugged and his gaze was set upon Michaels hands, how he was gesturing with them as he spoke, trying to read him by just his hands. Gestures told a lot about a person, where they might come from, or if they were lying, or not. The less you moved them, the more nervous and uncertain you were, and he hoped this.. Man.. Would expose more about whom he really was, by his body language instead of his voice. He sounded rather cheerful, which wasn't as common in his work, or among the people he met, his brother wasn't all that happy all the time, and his secretary just rang to him whenever there was a visitor.
The man seemed relaxed, Lukas could tell right away, and he.. It was still something off, even if he was moving smoothly and talking likewise. It interested him, he wanted to dig deeper into a person like this, yet his social skills had always put a stick in the wheel for him. He could barely talk properly to his brother for crying out loud, maybe he needed to train on his social skills... maybe.. A bit, in the future. "Of course I am something and can be sure of what I do, I didn't get a special permission to do these tests by myself that I am doing, and being allowed to have the lab itself by just being someone that's mildly interested in what he's doing." As he was tapping the table with the knuckle of his index finger. "You wouldn't come to be in case you didn't think I was capable enough, right? I might have been the last on your list, but I was on that list."
And then a small smirk was visible on his lips, it was challenging, daring, and definitely amused by it, but he was fuelled by it. "I'm going to make sure that I will be the first one on the lists in this country of desirable in the lab, both chemical and biology way."
Months, human testing, of course, what else would the government use it for? Yet.. The military. He arched a eyebrow and the smirk was replaced with a small frown. "The military? Is there a war going on that England is messing with?" This country and always putting its nose where it didn't belong, almost like it's younger rebellious kid, America. Yet he wasn't baffled or really concerned by it, human experimentation was being used all the time, whenever someone wanted it or not. "As long as it isn't tested on the maker of it, and it's employers and such." As he collected the documents together and took a sip from his lukewarm coffee.. Damn, he had taken too much time to read it through so the coffee wasn't as hot and scalding as he loved it, at least it wasn't infected with sugar and milk, like his old helper used to make it for him in the beginning..
"And well, as long as it isn't tested on animals as well." And then he put the papers aside, he knew he had to to through it as soon as possible to get it out of the way so it wouldn't linger around and he would forgot it. "And how do I contact you? Smoke signals?" Light sarcasm, the other hadn't exactly given him a way to contact him, not that he minded, he just didn't want the other to show up out of the blue while he was doing something important, or were with his brother... Definitely didn't want his family to get involved in whatever shit this man was going to give with him. A quick glance on the clock told him that, not only that he had forgotten about breakfast, but the hectic lunch hours on the streets were over as well, and you could actually eat without being stamped over or being looked at with great irritation. "I'm sorry to cut this short, but it seems like I have to get some lunch, unless you have anything else to add, or something else that." He hummed, and thought about the next thought that popped into his mind. "Do you want to come with me for lunch? Or are you busy?" Not that he cared; he just wanted to know whom this person was, and why he was so damn happy about all of this.

Wanna do like, when they meet and are friends, maybe when Lukie is trying to talk Berwald into "borrowing" some patients to run some tests? (8

At least he could be pleased in one way; Arthur knew that he himself wasn't up to play around all the time. The matter of time and space was often brought to be forgotten when the fine liqueurs were brought to them; but as long as he was sober; either you were there before him, right on time, or before time, or else you didn't need to come. Arthur have probably learned it the hard way; he'd been late once, and some restaurants were not made to eat alone in. He might be a nerd, but not a complete loser; and therefore as the other had been more than five minutes late, he had simply left and went to eat somewhere else, alone, and let's say that the Englishman had hopefully been taught a good lesson after that.
Ah, he was pleased when he looked up as he heard the smooth voice with the accent that made it turn inside of him. He'd really use that when they got down to it. And yet even if a pleasant shiver went down his spine, his face remained calm, as if he had been waiting for his mother or something like that. "Wanted to make sure you didn't get too eager to stain it right away, my brother was rather curious why I washed a 'clean' lab coat last time." As smooth s the other, and yet he smirked up at him to show that he might have planned to use it later, for something else than it was intended to, when he wanted some kind of superiority, and use his work attire to gain that.
"Beer, please." As he pointed at the one he wanted instead of making a total fool out of himself instead of trying to say the German words for it. His language might have a bit of Germanic in it, but no, his German was rusty and bad, with a Norwegian accent.
Checking his clock and clicked his tongue against his teeth. "Two minutes to spare, had me on my toes there for a moment, you'll do something to ease those nerves after this, right?" As his glance told it all; what he really wanted when he batted his eyelashes a bit more quicker, a leg sliding under the table more towards the Englishman, so he felt that the other had his foot there. He'd gladly flirt with him, even doing not too innocent suggestions and trying to be subtle with them. It was a game for the two of them, trying to rile each other up with smooth words and the teasing until both had enough, got smashed and went straight for the suggestive things they both had been promised one or another in the end. The thought of it made his smirk stay on his lips, all too eager to see what hid friend had up his sleeve for today, if he'd be taken by surprise or not.
Before he could reply to his friend, the waitress came over, and he simply pushed the menu towards the waitress. "A shrimp chocktail, and the tuna." And he looked at Arthur, waiting for him to order and the waitress to skip along before he spoke. "Slow, the bacteria is currently growing, and I can't grow anymore. It's as fun to watch as it is to watch paint dry, until something starts happening, and with these bacteria it takes about 12 hours." He sighed and rubbled his temples. Hands shaking slightly, indicating that he'd almost been drinking way too much coffee than he should during a short time, which was a regular thing to happen. "How about you? Anything exciting going on, besides this meeting with me?" The smirk turned sly, and he leaned slightly forward, and a waiter came up to show the wine to Arthur, letting him taste it and his own beer was given to him, sweet beer of his, he could work shitfaced if he wanted, he was his own boss and no one could tell him to sober up.
"Or how was your weekend? I didn't see you at all during Sunday, or heard anything from you after I left your apartment on Saturday." Their usual 'after work' meeting on Fridays, which had once again went a little bit on the crazy side, he still had a bruise on his wrists to prove what a lovely and crazy night the two of them had together, and the thought of it sent pleasure through him. "Missed me?"

Yoo-Hoo!
I'm moving to the faaaar end of Sweden tomorrow, and school starts on Monday so I will be quite busy from that on, maybe not incredible busy (but what do I know?) And I just want to warn you that I'm not too sure when we get internet up as well. I might peek in now and then, but I'm fairly not sure when I'll be back to reply again. (Aiming for at least in the middle of September.) But we'll see. Keep rocking meanwhile! ♥

First off, he hadn't wanted to come here. The other researchers had tried convince him countless of times to come. First it had been a matter of holding a speech about his project, or a seminaries about what he was so good at. Give others advice, encouraging words on why they should continue, how, or maybe curious people could get some kind of motivation to start a project themselves, or maybe lit a flame in those younger people, so they too could choose a career like the one they had. What a joke. You couldn't give a speech and motivate people, if they really wanted it, the will for it should already be imprinted deep inside of them, he shouldn't have to put it out on them. He didn't want to force people either, and to be absolute honest.. He kind of wanted to speak more about his work, what he was doing, why, and how he was doing it. He loved his job, the passion was like a mist around him every time he was locked up in his lab and tried the bacteria, tried to make it react, or just tried to pass time by making different solutions, and see how it reacted. The real problem was that he was so painfully shy, that standing there would cause him to have a small heart-attack, which he would gladly avoid, because whom would take care of Eirík if he was in the hospital? And yet.. Why was he there again? Almost sneaking around like he was some kind of thief. Trying to avoid people he knew, turning around easier than a lioness that chased her prey. No one had ever said anything different about how agile he was, and he could easily dance around in the room, making it seem like he was floating, gracefully walking, while he was really avoiding everyone he could possibly recognise out there. It wasn't a matter if he wanted to discuss his work or not, it would be the usual anyway, 'How is it going', 'oh, as usual, coming nowhere'. He wasn't too tempted to have those conversations right now. And the fact that he was shy again didn't help. People saw him as rude, and antisocial. He was neither, just having a hard time to form words properly when he barely knew what to do with himself. He wasn't really trying to blend in, nor stand out, but he always had a certain kind of good fashion. He didn't dress like the others here. They wore the usual, suits, ties, white shirts.. It was so boring that he wanted to yawn, but he didn't, it wasn't their fault they didn't knew better. Earlier, he sneaked into one of the seminaries to listen to the man that held it, an older male with a smaller audience. He wasn't as well-known as others here, but he was one of the people he looked up to, and he even managed to chat a bit with him afterwards about possibilities and other things, it had actually put him in a much better mood for being here. Otherwise, it was just new faces, with people that were going to get hurt sooner or later with their impulsive experiment, beginners that didn't really knew what they were doing.. It was heartbreaking to see, but also kinda good that someone would make them so no one else did it again.. But you never knew with people... Again. He was currently looking over at a stall, where the person was trying to impress the small audience he had by bragging on how good his idea about a new kind of power-source, ran by.. Hamsters in wheels.. Of course.. Even he had to smirk at it, and try not to laugh at him. It was such a childish idea, and someone even mentioned the possibility of the hamsters getting tired, his solution was to 'just trade them'. Bitter, and so mean, it made him walk straight away from there, and he hoped someone would take those poor hamsters away from him. " Is there really nothing more than this?" He mumbled for himself as he strolled around there again, declining yet again the lady whom was walking around with a bowl of sweets.. This was a science convention.. Was it really that clever to walk around with that, considering how much bacteria that would be inside of there after all of the people had grabbed at least one? And he could bet that most of the people here had hypochondria or something like that. He loved sweets himself, but not from a strangers bowl, he had also been taught properly enough. Getting enough of walking, for now, he sat down on a bench close-by that was vacant, and he leaned back, closing his eyes for a moment to draw a heavy sigh. It hadn't been a complete waste of time, but he was bored now, and this was almost as much social interaction he could have with strangers for a day than he was used to, being one of those 'science men' who locked himself up in the lab and forgot about time. " Almost lunchtime, maybe I should find something to eat, and text Eirík that he should too." @dawn

He knew flattering would make most of the people in his position, or most people in his working field become so much more friendly and loose after being getting such compliments from a stranger that was there, no matter if it was a good or a bad stranger. But Lukas was not one of then. Sure, his ears turned red and some of his cheeks did too, he didn't think people would actually take notice of such things, seeing as most of those articles had to be published for his work to get approved overall, otherwise he didn't really like to share what he was doing in the lab. And some of it was from his university and high-school days anyway. "Do they too mentions I never go to those lectures, and those published writings are a must, and I prefer to keep my work to myself." He didn't really know how to handle compliments or similar things, especially not from 'stranger', which this man really was. And yet to him, everyone was a stranger since he never bothered to get to know other people better. " At least your coworkers knows something that is going on." As he shrugged, even if he wasn't offended, he was still not too used to people knowing whom he was, and what he was doing. He wasn't mad either, just a bit surprised that someone had showed up at his door, claiming that they had booked a meeting with him, even if they had not. He was suspicious, seeing as how easily he had slipped past the secretary as well, and only called him when he was on his way up, not before to confirm with him. " Don't worry about it, I am not too busy right now, as the samples needs a bit of resting anyway before I continue with them, I can spare a minute or two for you, since you seem to have something important to discuss." Why else would he stomp in and still say that he wanted to talk? Unless he was here to murder him, or kidnap him, then he better have good reflexes or else he would almost, but not quite, feel bad for him. He looked up, and over the view he rarely had a time to watch while he was working, too engrossed in his work to take notice of anything around him, really, but this had really been a part of the reason why he had chosen this particular spot for his lab. His brother loved it too, and this is where he spent his time in case he followed him to work. " I doubt you'd have to kill to get a view like this." Just be rich, or have good contacts, or both. It hadn't been expensive, it had just been a matter of persuasion and a name for his part to get it. And also his work did give it a bit of a push as well. It wasn't always easy being a Bondevik when you couldn't be subtle when you went out, unless you went with another alias. Making coffee for the both of them, while he listened to Michael speak about what matter he was there for. Ah, it seemed like the government wanted someone to help them with their dirty work, of course. He wasn't too appealed by it as he went back with two mugs of steaming hot Scandinavian coffee, and put one down in front of Michael, while he took the seat on the opposite of him. " Do I have to work in the labs you own, or can I do it in my own, and access yours if I need anything specific?" Taking the folder and moving it over so he could open it and read. It wasn't really difficult this one, he could have it done within a week, unless his main work got too much in the way. He wasn't interested in it because of the money, no, that was the last thing he was interested in. What he really wanted was the challenge, push himself to see if he indeed could finish it within a week, maybe earlier, and still balance his original work and improve that one. " So that's it? This is the work you are asking well-known chemists for? I thought it would be something more.. Difficult." Working with solutions and creating things, he could create most things from his memory as well, and this wouldn't actually be too difficult. " The antidote would not knock away the poison completely, but it would momentarily stop it. Unless you clean the blood, poison never truly leaves the body in case you are making poison, Michael." Looking up from the papers with a 'I thought everyone knew that' gaze, slightly confused, and also trying not to be too cocky. " But yes, I could probably come up with something, give it a week or two and I can have some kind of prototype ready." Having difficulties to hold someone's gaze, as his own flickered away, and decided to stop at the window instead to look over the view, he was really too shy to meet someone's gaze for a longer while, unless it was family. " I am assuming I need to sign something?" It was the government, one couldn't just agree and read things like this so simple and then walk away like nothing happened. And in case he wanted to work with this, not signing anything like 'conduct of silence' or whatever, he would get rather suspicious of this man, which he already where after all, but even more so. At least he had stopped playing with his gun, and instead he had both his hands on the files, leaving him vulnerable and open for all kinds of attacks. He didn't exactly like that, strangers had never been his strong point to be alone with, or have a conversation with as well. His brother was better, not exactly as brilliant as some people, but he was clearly better than his bigger brother. " Is there any catches to this as well? Like, trying on humans, animals, or anything alike? Or anything else that isn't written in here that I should know before I make a deal with the devil?" Mihai Chimet

It didn’t do better to said chemist that this man, who had just apparently gotten here in the middle of his own little sulking thanks to the failed test he had just made, was smiling at him where he stood. How dared he to act all cheerful and happy, even if the smile seemed to not be of the kind one. He could look serious, like Lukas was, with is lips in a thin line and the arms crossed over his chest to show that he was not open for anything friendly and cosy, so he would not embrace him with open arms.
Despite how he acted, Lukas got a bad feeling about him, that this man was not good news for him, and he should tread carefully with him. And yet danger also kinda made him interested along the way, as he scanned the man outside the door for any slip-ups he would make. Better be safe than sorry, since he had a little brother to take care of, and no one could do it except him.
“Call me Lukas.” If he was to be casual with the other, he could just be that back. And being from Norway, you never called anyone by their surname, always the first name, and never any titles to that. “What have you heard about me that make you think that my work is ‘admirable’?” A eyebrow was arched as he got even more suspicious of him. He had done nothing great, and he doubted he would ever get that far even now when he was making so little progress in what he really was aiming for. The cure to his brother, cancer, aids, everything was so far away, and he had hit a turning point where he had no fucking clue what he even was doing anymore.
Closing the door after the man, making sure to keep an eye on him and his lab, and everything else that could go wrong, easy access to a alarm button on his phone that would alert the people downstairs and security in case this.. Man.. Would do anything stupid to him or his research. “Thank you, it gives me a lot of freedom to work as I wish in whichever way I want.” Which was true, he loved his lab and he couldn't even remember the time he had to share not even half this size back in Norway, he was really spoiled sometimes.
Well.. Now of course he was here for some fishy reason as Lukas straighten his back and looked right at him with his emotionless blue eyes and let him finish speaking, Lukas had all time in the world, and he was still in a pretty mad, he wouldn't say bad either, just a bit depressing, after his failed experiment. “She spoke nothing of what you had in mind, just that you were coming up.” If it was something that was important, Lukas would have remembered that. As a young genius, he had an easy time remember things, but his name did not ring a bell to him.
“Very well, let me hear this.. Thing you wanted to discuss.” More formal than Lukas really was in private, and yet he had a feeling that sometimes you should not cross to the more private unless the other party had given you a good reason for that, as he simply showed him that he should follow him, and Lukas settled to go to the further end of the lab, passing various experiments that were going on at different kind of tables and stations, he had a lot of things going on at the same time, it was just how he worked. A workaholic, more in the lab than home, getting work pulled over his head, more things than he could really handle sometimes.
Stopping by a door in the back of the lab, as he opened it up and stepped aside for Michael to get in, while Lukas shrugged of his goggles and lab and hung it by a rack that were by the door, he didn't like to mix his lab clothing with the furniture that were used for people with everyday clothes as well.
The room was spacious, a nice room for meetings, as it had a big table with space for 12 people, the further end had two couches and a coffee table in between them. A coffee machine and a tap was spotted in the corner, and 2/4 of the walls had full-length windows all over the walls, giving a nice panorama over the city from the big building as well.
His own clothes were simple today, some dark-blue tight jeans, a white shirt with rolled-up arms and a black vest that was unbuttoned, like the first buttons on his shirt as well. “Take a seat.” As he motioned to the couches and went over to the coffee machine to get himself some of that sweet delicious coffee. “Do you want anything?” As he took his finished cup and placed it on the opposite side of what Michael sat on, and waited for his answer before making anything, slightly curious over what he might have to say.

Post by Lukas Bondevik on Dec 20, 2014 9:51:52 GMT -8
It was that day again, Friday. The beginning of the weekend that would come, that most people associated with 'freedom' if they had a stale, boring office work. For others, like Lukas, that didn't necessarily meant that you had a day off or were free to do as you pleased just because it was days that you were supposed to be free. No, but Lukas was luckily enough to manage his own working schedule, seeing as he owned the lab himself. It was his own loss if he didn't work and earned less money from the pharmacies and other labs whom he shared his results with. So according to Lukas, at least the morning and afternoon were off for him, as he had plans for tonight, that he apparently have had the last few weekends.
Did his brother like it? No, he hadn't uttered anything about it, yet he had seen the looks that were offered to him when he had dragged home the drunk Englishman, or well, not during that time since.. He had been.. Well.. Too busy with said Englishman to notice too much around him, but he had seen how disapproving Eirik had been the day after. But Lukas needed to live a bit too, his work made him want to let loose sometimes.. Not like this what he had in mind, but he enjoyed it, and the Englishman understood him as well. They were different, yet they got along very well, and Arthur was one of the few friends Lukas had in England after all.
Lunchtime, finally, that he had been waiting for since he started. Lukas loved his work and his research, it was his life together with his brother, but said Englishman had started to make his life interesting in other ways as well. Lukas knew that this was a good addition to his life, at least what his father would say. The Englishman brought excitement to his life that he didn't believe that he would take part in, when they were at the bar, spotting a drink in hand, a lot of empty bottles or glass around them later on, and the two of them going home to the other.. A light blush spotted on his cheeks by the thought of their 'nights' together, God, he was becoming so lewd of lately..
Making sure that he could leave his research without making any harm to the bacteria or the solution, and made sure the finish what he had started before he put a lid on some of the things that didn't do too well while being exposed to air, and went to change from his labcoat to his coat that he wore outside instead. A few times had he walked out with the coat, and even Arthur had rolled his eyes at him when they had met up for lunch, and the Norwegian was spotted in the white, very clean labcoat. Lukas didn't like when it was dirty, so it was probably the most clean labcoat that were being used on a regular basis in the whole world.
Not that he minded being seen as a neatfreak either in the lab, he was still doing a very good job, despite his age and the fact that he worked alone. Lukas had been deemed one of the best from Norway, at least, and yet he didn't like the fame that came with titles like that, and decided to stay low here in London, still trying to find his goal, the cure for his brother, cancer, aids, all of those horrible diseases that the human race did not deserve, not according to Lukas at least.
The ride down the elevator was the usual, it went fast thanks to the modern elevators they had, but the music inside of it were horrible like usual, making Lukas wrinkle his nose in distaste and look at himself in the mirror. He looked clean, okay. He had gotten enough sleep yesterday as he had fallen asleep in his own bed while reading last night, so for once he wasn't spotting bags under his eyes. Skin clean, same as his clothes, and his hair perfect on his head and clipped back with the help of the cross barrette. Lukas just liked to look neat and clean, and he always looked that way as well.
As soon he was finally down on the groundfloor, he paid little attention to his surroundings, as usual, this was just a building where he had a whole floor for himself, high up in the tall building thanks to the sight he never really saw, otherwise he didn't like to mingle with people that he held no interest with.
This was becoming a regular thing, to meet up with Arthur on weekdays, grab lunch, have a nice talk. On Fridays, or Saturdays, they met up in the library, read for a bit, before either felt like taking a drink, or ten. Arthur usually challenging him to a drinking competition, which he always lost, and well.. Then things got dirty, in a good way. The first time it had been rather.. Shocking, but now it just happened. The night were usually very good, Lukas had to admit, but only for himself, and them doing it every weekend for the past weeks? Well, he clearly didn't mind it.
Arriving at the restaurant they had talked about, simply going inside to take a seat by a table further into the place, away from prying and curious eyes, and were it was more calm, rather than by the windows were people looked for spots, talked loudly, and were just boring people that liked to be annoyed.
At least Lukas waited until Arthur arrived to order, and instead he looked at the menu, to see what he would order, and throwing a quick look at the watch, Arthur still had 5 minutes before they would meet, and Lukas had told him further into the restaurant. Having a good feeling about the day so far,
