There was very few people that Gilbert loathed in this world, and he had the unfortunate luck to see one of them in this cafe. He didn't know the man personally, so it might be odd for him to hate him on first sight. It was his actions that sealed the deal. As Gil was about to sit down, he saw the man harassing some people who were signing. An eyebrow was raised when one of them spoke, but Gil kept watch, proud of them for standing up to the bully. Deciding for himself, he made his way over to the lady after the bully had left and sat down with a cup of coffee in hand. He had thought about spilling it on the man's shirt in 'accident' or tripping him, but he'd let karma take care of that for him. Hopefully a cab would splash him with mud so Gil didn't have to get arrested.
"Pardon, but may I sit here, you look to be in need of company? I saw what that guy did.... just ignore idiots like that, they'll get their dues… I’d give him his dues but I don’t feel like being arrested today for fighting… guy deserve a punch to his face."
Gilbert was already plotting on finding out who that guy was and who he worked for; perhaps this place had a security camera he could get video from and send his employer a helpful email of the kind of scum they had hired. That would make him feel a lot better than punching him and ending up in the local jail, very much better and it would let the lesson hit home a lot harder. Plus he didn’t want to sink to that guy’s level again. He worked hard to let go of his more troublesome past, and he didn’t want to bring it back in one fit of anger, no matter how well deserved.
"My name's Gilbert, I hope you can understand me, I don't know how to sign."
He smiled sheepishly at that, holding out a hand. He hopped he didn't make a fool out of himself and the woman didn't think he was being a creeper.

“You really like throwing people for a loop, don’t you?”
"One of my specialties. Keeps things interesting that way"
It was one of the few things he liked to do. He did things on purpose to keep people guessing about him. It was one of the self-protection mechanisms; if people didn’t get too close, they couldn’t hurt you. This case with his fiancé was the same. Get to know each other well enough to answer questions, but still keep it enough to where they could protect themselves. If anything, he would put her in the same category as Toni and Feli here.
“Ve… you really think that’s a good idea? We just met! Should you have her meet your famiglia, first, no?”
Gilbert could only shrug, he didn’t have much family here, and he didn’t want what he did have involved in this hoax since it wasn’t going to last long enough for them to get to know her and then accept having her leave their family.
“Truth is I don’t really have family around here. My parents are still back in Germany and the one other man I considered a father figure died a few years ago… so it’ll just be easier to have friends meet her and them the parents when it’s closer to the date.”
Gilbert could only hope that was a good cover for why his parents weren’t the first ones. Plus he didn’t want to deal with the questions of how they met yet or what they could possibly have in common. Now he really felt like he could use a drink with all the things he didn’t think of before going through his head. But for now, he kept up his smiling face and just wanted to keep this stranger from realizing things weren’t perfect. Convince a stranger and those close to you would come easy enough, for your friends were more likely to believe you and ignore things you didn’t want them to see.
“So, do you want me to bring her here sometime? I’m sure I can convince her to come out for a drink; she has to get out and interact after all… and " His speech trailed off as he was interrupted by his phone ringing. Frowing a bit, he looked at his phone, motioning for the bartender to give him a minute while he took this call, it was a number he recognized, but he didn't understand why he would be getting a call from it at this moment."

“I forgot to ask Gilberto, what is it that you do though? Y …you never did tell me what people say about musicians.”
"Basically it was they say because of so much practice with their hands, musicians make the best lovers"
Gilbert could only grin with that, he knew Toni was expecting something of the type, but Gil couldn't help himself. It wasn't very often that he could lines like that on someone and he took his chance. There was a good possibly that this Antonio would roll his eyes and leave, but at least Gilbert could be happy that he said it. Laughing himself, he gave a little shove to Toni's shoulder and settled himself in more comfortably.
"I had to use that line, been dying forever to use that line. But seriously, you have a good musical talent; more people need to appreciate it and get their heads out of their arsch"
Carefully standing up and stretching, he grunted as he felt a joint pop, but then sighed as pressure was released off his spine. He was in good shape, but he wasn't used to sitting in one spots for long amounts of time, but for this man, he would make due. Gilbert knew he was in rather sore need of friends here, and perhaps, just perhaps, this Antonio could become a good one. Looking around, the sun seemed like it still had a few hours until it set, and perhaps he would keep Gil company for a while; after all, it was never fun to return to an empty home when you were feeling a bit lonely… not that the so called Awesome Gilbert would ever admit to that particular feeling.
“Hey, what you say we get a cup of coffee and talk a bit more. Tell me how you came to London. I’m sure it’s an interesting tale.”

"Heck, I probably can't tell you anything about Freud or Plato. Not that they concern me. But favorite pet?” Gilbert could only laugh as she snorted at his question. Yes, he knew it was an odd question, but he was typically an odd guy. He could tell this woman was wary of him and he wanted to relieve that wariness. He wouldn't hurt her, wouldn't dream of it. He only wanted to pass the time and if making a stranger laugh was what was needed, that’s what he was going to do. "All you need to know about Freud and Plato was that all Freud cared about was dicks and Plato about logic and shit." He had to chuckle at his own words, dick jokes could still make him laugh, even though he was a usually a mature adult. He watched her though for her reaction to the joke, to see if she would laugh along with. "But yes, your favorite pet?" "Her name was Rozsa..." He continued to look at her as she told him about her beloved horse. From watching her face, he could really tell how much she loved that horse. Though, he was confused and slightly concerned as to why she mentioned journalistic material. Did she recognize him as a freelance journalist from some of his small columns? He hoped not… Though he was even more confused as to why she mentioned Lutz and his dogs.. was this the same man he met in the park with the dogs? "Lutz? Is that short for Ludwig? I met him in the park some time ago. I must admit he has cute dogs. The only other German person I've met around here actually. ...Labor Party? You two in government? Well shit, no wonder he didn't want to talk to me very much. Can't say I blame him, though I told him wasn’t looking for anything, just a regular conversation that’s all." Running his hand through his already spiky hair, he frowned and sighed. "Verdammt. So uncool. I'll have to find a way to make up for it… Perhaps ask Mari if she knows a way to smooth things over. I thought I had recognized him from somewhere." Looking back at her after his little outburst, he took a drink of his alcohol and set it back down, letting the warmth burn down his throat and calm him. Smiling at her, he looked slightly embarrassed for his outburst, though he was stubborn enough to not admit it.

We could do a past thing with them becoming lovers, the present/future has him becoming married to mari for things. And ja, with that past thread, we could do them meeting with her stopping to help him with his car since its probably broken down the quite a bit. how does that sound?

Watching people squirm under the glare of his odd heterochromatic eyes always gave Gil a thrill of guilty joy that down his spine. Eyes watching the man fumble and fuss behind the counter, Gilbert was tempted to laugh at how uncomfortable the cashier was, at how nervous he had become just because of red eyes and a grin. It was one of his faults, he knew, but really, it didn’t harm anyone in the long run. Gilbert didn’t use this trick often, but he used it when
As the man gave back the kids card, Gilbert nodded in satisfaction. His work here was done. Removing his arms from the counter, he reached to brush a piece of dust off the man's name-tag.
"Glad you see it the right way man, I'd have hated to bother your manager over such a simple mistake."
Removing his hands totally from anywhere near the man, he only turned and gave a curious look to the boy was he spoke about the computer piece. He wasn’t sure fully why he was saying it, but perhaps that was his way of saying thank you. Smiling softly at the kid, he nodded and shrugged.
"The MSI Z87 MPower Max isn't a horrid computer part..."
"It might be good kid, but only to those that can afford it. Enjoy you day and keep an eye on your card."
It was true that technically Gilbert could afford it if he used the card that Mari gave him to use, but he didn’t feel right using it. They had agree that he would pretend to be her husband for a while, but he didn’t fully see how that gave him the right yet to freely spend her money. Gilbert knew it was bribe money he was getting for this, but it still didn’t settle right in his chest. He knew he would have to talk to her about it.

He let Antonio get closer to him; he knew what he was doing, seeing if he was lying or not about the contacts. He had gotten used to this treatment over the years, so all Gilbert could do in response was to grin. His eyes sparkled with the mirth in the situation. While Toni had compared his eyes to rubies, he was one to talk; his own eyes reminded Gilbert of Emeralds… or perhaps a dark jade. Either way, there was more than one person here with eyes that could be compared to jewels.
But then, something that this Antonio did threw Gilbert off track, and that was his abrupt change in, well, not in mood, but something similar he didn’t have a name for right away. His expression did change and it left Gilbert stumped or what was said to possibly elicit this kind of response from the man.
"A recording does not gave have as much passion as the performance you just saw, amigo, or perhaps you need another show, si?”
"eh?"
Gilbert could only blink at the man, confusion etched across his face and in his eyes. One eyebrow was raised as he tried to figure out was meant before it slowly came to him. Apparently this Antonio had somehow taken offense at the recording comment. Slowly an idea crossed his face and he think he understood where the misunderstanding had happened. Laying a hand on the man’s knee, he shook his head and grinned.
”Nein, you didn’t hear what I said, and missed what I meant. You do not sound like a recording. I said you deserved to be signed for one. As in go to a studio and then have people by your albums."
Grinning again, he shrugged before leaning back against the bench, arm resting against the back of it while looking at the sky. If this man chose to take it wrong again, it was not his fault. It was too good of a day to spend in a bad mood anyway.
“You’re a lot better than a majority of those fools, never let anyone tell you otherwise, ja?”
