Shutting off the faucet, Berwald dried his hands and sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose before removing his glasses completely. What a day it had been already. Four hours of surgery wasn’t the longest he’d ever done but it still took a toll on him but, it was done now. The patient was in recovery so now the Swede could take a break and wind down a bit. Rubbing his tired eyes and replacing his glasses, Berwald nodded to a passing nurse before heading out into the hall. Stuffing his hands into his white coat’s pocket’s the tall, imposing man passed other hospital employees and visitors alike and whenever he saw someone he knew, the doctor gave a nod in greeting.
Eventually from the halls, Berwald made his way to his own personal office and he unlocked and closed the door before him before he sat in his chair with another sigh. Oh, it felt good to sit down but as soon as he did, he internally groaned at the thought that he should have gotten himself some food and some coffee before he had sat down. He would eventually, but now he was comfortable and the muscles in his back were beginning to unwind. Scratching his chin, the man looked at his desk, with all of it's neat stacks of papers, pens, notes, his laptop, and his phone. Adorning his walls were numerous medical journals and encyclopaedias on shelves.
Speaking of his phone, the man took the device in hand and turned it back on. Once the phone chimed awake and connected, a number of notifications came through including three emails, a text from his mom and a text from… “Lukas?” Raising a dark blonde eyebrow, the doctor recalled in thought the face of his… well, friend he supposed. He had met the Norwegian a while ago now and they had hit it off well enough and Berwald liked the man well enough too, so yeah, he thought Lukas as his friend. “Hmm,” the Swede commented, reading the text. Apparently, his friend wanted to speak to him about something and he wondered if he could come to the hospital.
“Well, I am on my break…” he mused, so he texted the Norwegian back, ‘Ja, sure. We can have lunch together at the hospital’s café’. With the message sent, the man ran his fingers through his hair and got up, going to make himself some coffee while Lukas texted him back.
