Camila was not having the best day ever. She didn’t have enough change for a decent meal, she was considering ramen noodles, with tap water, and this starving did not improve her almost pitiful thinking. It was just one of those days, when she felt incredibly useless, stupid and unmotivated. She jumped into her car, managed to drive around the city streets aimlessly, for hours. It was raining and there weren’t many people out in the street, she did not really feel like picking people up today anyway. She couldn’t help but think that if she did not pick anybody up she would have even less money, and if she continued this way things wouldn’t get better.
She felt her stomach growled. It was acting up again. Just perfect. Even after having eaten noodles she still felt a small pit in her stomach. She needed more substance. Camila parked the car in an empty side of the street and walked out into the side walk, her pace was slow without much hurry or poise. Her hair was slowly getting wet by the drip drop of the rain.
She pulled at the collar of her sweater, she didn’t know why but the bench suddenly looked very inviting. She could sit down for five minutes right? Then try and actually make money today? Her stomach was growling even more loudly. A small gust of wind touched her face, and a shadow passed the corner of her eye. If it had not been for the strong and warm smell of food Camila would have not turned to look at the stranger. Or more like what the stranger was carrying.
Her nose turned red and her mouth watered. His thick fingers were gripping the most heavenly-smelling-delicious looking-morsel of a sandwich she had ever seen. Camila felt like her stomach was going to leap out of the eyes of her sockets. Her growling stomach intensified her senses, and she inhaled the scent of tomatoes, onions, and lettuce deeply. She gave the guy a quick going over. The guy thin complexion. Fair skin, dark blue eyes. Maybe brunette, he was wearing a hat… Hmm.
Camila gave it no more thought. She kicked the guy near his ankle grabbed the sandwich and made way for her car. The guy screamed, and took off after her spewing a huge reel of insults at her as she ran.
“Sorry!” she cackled and bit into the sandwich.
"Finders keepers!" It tasted real good. Food had to be her second love. She ran a few blocks, maybe she lost him? She made it to her car, and hastily opened the door. She deliberately bit into the sandwich. Looking at the back window of her car laughing to herself, she turned to see the man tapping her car window.
“Stupid!” she mouthed to him. He produced a badge.
Oh no.
She rolled down the window. The policeman smirked as Camila stepped out of the car. She 9BCF5] “But, but… I didn’t know that there was a stupid parking meter over here!”[/color]
“Oh certainly!” he almost leered. He put his hat back on. Camila felt blood shoot up her face. Oh no. He laughed, obviously happy with her embarrassment. “This is mine.” He took the sandwich from Camila.
“So, you overstayed at a parking meter, you attempted theft, you kicked a policeman, and you insulted him by calling him doofus.. is this correct?”
“No it was stupid,” Camila gasped and clasped her hands over her mouth. The man chuckled and continued writing. Well this was going well. Camila began to feel desperate.
“Say..uh.” Camila looked at the officer’s badge.
“John” she stepped towards him.
“Lets make a deal,” she smiled.
“What if I buy you lunch today, and we forget about this whooole(she moved her hands in circles) incident, ever happening..?” She stepped closer to the cop.
“What do ya say, hmm?” She batted her eyelashes at him, toyed with the flap that lined the edge of his shirt pocket. The man eyed Camila. He stepped backwards.
“Attempting to bribe an officer…” he wrote in his note pad again, and spewed something about it being a violation, and ending with “miss I am going to have to take you to the station.”
Gee and I thought you were stupid. He pulled her and Camila let herself to be put into the back seat of the police cab. The drive was a torture with the man laughing and sneering at her the whole ride. Camila’s hunger had calmed down, but she still fidgeted in her seat, the cuffs hurt. She gave the police man a few glares.
This could be the second or third time she was at the station? She stopped glaring at the policeman. She was possibly going to be stuck in the cell, and it was only three days because the officer went easy on her and did not mention that Camila had kicked him, and tried to bribe him.
Unless someone paid her bail, it was going to be three days. She was going to be tired by then. She gave another aggressive smile and stood watching the policemen leave.
“I stole a sandwich from a policeman..” she mumbled to herself. Oblivious to another presence sitting in the cell, she felt angry was she going to let him get away with making her feel embarrassed? Forgetting her shame she pulled off her coat, and threw it to the floor.
“A real gentleman would have offered to buy me a sandwich! Jerk!” yeah Camila knew it was a lame comeback but she didn’t like not having the last word.
She picked up her jacket then pivoted to her right, to see a girl with a cute sun dress sitting there.
“Hi,” Camila’s thick accent seeped through. She eyed the girls protuberant but pretty features as she sat down. What was a girl dressed as neatly as her doing in a cell..? Obviously the policemen were out of their minds.
“So princessa?” Camila bent and sat down next to her.
“What’cha doing here?” She shrugged and gave the girl a wink.
Camila removed her heels.
“Ahh these shoes are killing me..” she placed her heels next to her on the bench and threw her jacket over them.
