Marcello Romeo Scordato A seller of flowers, a provider of laughter and entertainment, Marcello is one of the last people you'd suspect to be be involved in some sort of espionage operation - but that's exactly how it's supposed to be isn't it? Compared to others in the agency, he's a bit of a Greenhorn and still has much to learn, but he's a rather zealous and valuable asset. For now, however, this Sleeper Agent is lying in wait and building up a 'cover life' as a civilian in London... but just you wait until he's been awakened. |

In a nutshell, Marcello is a slightly mysterious albeit gentle, outgoing, and cheerful young man that often seems a bit too lazy or childish at times for his own good. Regardless, he always seems to have a smile on his face and laid back attitude...but in reality there is so much more to the man. Yes, it’s true he’s a rather happy guy. Marcello doesn’t see the need in being glum when everyone and everything has so much of that already. He’d rather be that person that’s known to bring smiles to people’s faces and into their hearts and he’ll gladly do so with his performances, a sweet word, or a little random act of kindness. Not only that, he’ll try to encourage you with his own brand of optimism—after all things, are supposed to get worse before they get better, right? Though he’s usually one to live in the present, he does have high hopes of the future, and he does believe that good things are on the horizon. That said, just because Marco has a tendency to enjoy life as it comes, he isn’t keen on behaving foolishly or making completely stupid choices. It can come back to bite you in the end, after all (therefore, you won't be seeing him shouting YOLO! and doing something ridiculous any time soon). In addition to being rather happy, Marco is overall just outgoing and likes making new friends. In other words, it’s highly unlikely that a stranger will stay a stranger very long while Marcello is in the same vicinity. It’s always great to have someone to stand by your side, share some gossip, and have your back—not to mention it’s just 100% better be belong to a small group than to be isolated and all on your own… One thing, however, is for certain: no matter who he meets and under what circumstances, he tries his best to make a good first impression. After all, it’s that initial encounter that is the most important and will at the very least give one an idea of what you’re like. For him, it’s all the more important… especially since he also works as an M16 Agent when he’s not arranging flowers or performing on stage in a theatre. He’s got to put his best foot forward to gain favor (and information) without completely giving himself away, and if that means buttering someone up or acting the fool to get past their defenses, so be it. Regardless, the first thing someone may notice about him other than the fact he is cheery, friendly, and rarely sad, is that he is also quite laid back and fairly calm and composed. Most of the time, he also goes around looking and acting a bit spacey and klutzy. Admittedly, he is a bit clumsy and he does have a tendency to do "strange" and silly things or act a bit odd from time to time… Regardless, Marco doesn’t seem to be in too much of a hurry at any one time, and really, he seems as if he has nothing to worry about at all—he’s just relaxed and enjoying the moment as it comes. He does, however, tend to feed off of other’s enthusiasm (and the like), and while he does not usually get overly enthusiastic or overreact to the circumstance himself, he does get a bit more energized. On the occasion he does overreact, you can ensure it was because he was genuinely surprised or terrified, however. Marcello, being the womanizer and flirt that he is, also has an eye out for any bella ragazza that might be roaming about. One might say that he’s girl-crazy, but at least he has a bit of luck capturing the eye of those people he’s attracted to thanks to his innate charm and a few well-chosen words or a chivalrous act. That isn’t to say it works all the time. There have been several occasions where the Seborgan was shrugged off or outright rejected, but he didn’t let it get to him for too long—plenty of fish in the sea after all! Besides, he’s not really one to hold onto intimate relationships due the nature of his work, and exclusive, or otherwise serious, relationships aren’t exactly something he’s familiar with—he’s really more of a casual dater if anything. That said, he would never actually cheat on anyone (not that casual dating counts as that anyway)…he just isn’t terribly willing to be thoroughly tied down with one person and would rather keep his options open for now (especially since his arranged marriage with the Princess of Monaco kind of left a bitter taste in his mouth for such relations…). Regardless, when he does get into a relationship of any kind, regardless of the length, Marc treats his partner gently and will not push them into doing anything they don’t feel comfortable with at the time. Additionally, Marco enjoys physical affection—like hugs, kisses, and the like—but he is not over-affectionate and is definitely not clingy—unless the other person has absolutely no problem with it. He understands some people have issues with being hugged or kissed all the time…but there has been on occasion or two where he simply couldn’t help himself. On the topic of romance, flirting, and affection, it should be noted that while Marcello is a rather flirtatious man himself and can charm the ladies left and right, but when HE is the one getting flirted with, he has a tendency to blush. It gets increasingly worse the bolder the person is about it and whether or not they say…well… naughtier things… He’ll tend to turn a bright crimson and he’ll begin to stutter. Additionally, because he doesn’t exactly know how to handle it and isn’t entirely used to getting such attention from another man, flirty remarks and the like from the same sex will cause him to fluster all the more, and he’ll likely just slip off into speaking Ligurian or Italian with bits of severely broken English. He will also get a very bad stutter when he is very scared, nervous, embarrassed, confused, or when his emotions are running high. It is probably at its worst when he is scared, confused, or frustrated, however. When it comes to working, Marcello isn’t one to toil long and hard at something. He generally prefers things that are easy to do and that do not require a lot of (physical) effort. In fact, he’ll normally avoid having to do anything that he deems as being “too much work/effort” or something that would either cause him to over-exert himself or would do little to benefit him otherwise. However, when it comes to his role as an agent, he’s a bit more willing to be active and do a bit more to collect the data he needs or to carry out a mission. After all, he has to be able to outrun or fool his opponents if he’s ever in danger of being caught… Therefore, he’ll push himself a little bit more to get the job done, but he’ll avoid taking any route that proves to be too toilsome. Regardless, if he absolutely needs or has to do something, he’ll do it—but he’ll definitely take his sweet time doing it if he’s not particularly fond of the chore. Despite the fact that Marcello isn’t one to want to do a lot, he is capable of it, but it usually requires a bit more motivation for him to carry out larger tasks, which often leaves him labeled as more of a thinker than a doer. However, if it is something that he feels strongly about (or is trying to impress or gain the favor of a pretty woman or the like), he will have more of a drive and will be surprisingly determined to see to it that the plan is carried out. This, however, is extremely rare and thus far, the only huge dream he’s got is to ascend the ranks of M16 and be knighted. In addition to a rather lazy and questionable work ethic, his sense of and his take on responsibility is somewhat blurred. Yes, Marcello is fully capable of being responsible when he needs to. He handles myriads of information and must determine the best way to deal with it after all, and yes, he does have to work and can’t necessarily just lean on someone to fend for him most of the time. In that sense, he’s responsible. He’s also the kind of person that if sudden responsibility fell into his lap… well he’d probably take it up albeit a bit reluctantly at first. He cherishes his independence and his ability to lead a more or less carefree lifestyle where he can travel or do as he pleases with no (or very few) strings attached. As such, he’s rather wary of taking up any unnecessary responsibilities that are not part of his job already. He’s capable, but he honestly does not want to be the one person that feels like the fate of others or the world is sitting on his shoulders – he gets enough of that from being an Agent! Additionally, that’s just stressful and unwanted and you can bet he’ll try to pass off any extra responsibility off to someone else if it’s at all possible. To some people, Marcello might seem like a bit of a cheery, carefree, silly, playful idiot that likes to pull the occasional harmless prank, but that is only how he appears on the surface. Well, while he is happy and carefree most of the time and may often come across as spacey, flighty, or without common sense, believe it or not, he is quite astute, observant, and gives decent advice. He prefers to reveal such in small doses, however, so not everyone may notice it. He can speak four languages fluently (French, Ligurian, Italian, and English), but he’s able to catch bits and pieces of a few others. This can also be attributed to the fact that he was exposed to such languages during his travels and had to , at the very least, be somewhat familiar with them to get around… it would be impractical to not the basics after all; especially if one had to reside in an area for an indefinite amount of time. Despite this, his English does have a bit of trouble and is often spoken with the addition of the letter “a” to some words to form a sort of accent. His speech is also riddled with ‘um’ and ‘eh’ a lot when speaking (mostly because he’s trying to remember what words he needs to say and how to say them) and he’s rather bad at idioms… or rather he knows what he’s trying to say when using them, but he’ll mix up their wording. For example, he’ll say “you gotta put your best thumb forward” instead of “you gotta put your best foot forward”. Marcello is somewhat religious, but he’s not a saint in the least bit. However, he DOES believe it’s good to have something to believe in and hope for rather than just going through life without much purpose… to him, faith grants a bit of optimism. Regardless, he is extremely tolerant--it with other people’s actions or their beliefs (or lack thereof). He has no qualms with anyone that believes differently than he does so long as it isn’t harming anyone else or being shoved in his face. So long as there is mutual respect and understanding and no harm coming from anything, then as far as he’s concerned, you can do whatever you want. It’s not his place to raise an alarm about it. That said, Marcello is considered to be rather passive by nature, he really doesn’t care much for getting into unnecessary debates, fights, or conflicts, and will usually just smile and go along with whatever the opposition is saying for a while--so long as it is nothing extremely serious, detrimental, or outrageously ridiculous. When he is forced to take a stand, he does so calmly in an attempt to compromise or talk his way out of it (but really, he’d rather someone else handle the issue). Truly, it is rather difficult to get a big rise out of Marcello. He does get aggravated as any normal being might, and while some things do get under his skin, he often bites his tongue and refrains from making any mention of it until it escalates too far for his tastes. If he must make a remark about it, he tries to do so in a way that won’t intentionally spawn a quarrel. Additionally, while Marco is something of a goody-two-shoes who doesn't like to get into too much trouble, he’s had his moments of ‘being bad’. So long as he's sure he can get away with it, and as long as it isn't anything too severe or isn't something that will hurt someone else, he might consider it – especially if it’s for the sake of a mission and there is little other ways to go about it. Nevertheless, these instances are few and far between and it usually takes a bit of coaxing in one form or another for such actions to be carried out. While he is somewhat emotional, he isn’t afraid to show his emotions when they arise, Marcello is not overly fond of letting the worst of them become apparent. He’s a natural at hiding things or keeping things secret…and this includes his own feelings be they of sorrow, guilt, pain, fear, anger, or the like. If something truly troubles him, he’ll lock it away within the confines of his mind and put on a smiling front when around others and no one will know the wiser. But that doesn’t mean he’s not hurting on the inside. Regardless, he’ll often internalize these emotions and withdraw to sort out his thoughts and feelings until he’s able to convince himself that whatever he was dwelling over isn’t worth it, or to otherwise work out his feelings (even if it means taking an extremely long walk or simply holing up in a room by himself to crumble for a while). He will also refuse to speak with anyone about what caused such a reaction and will not bring whatever it was up once he’s got it all sorted away. There’s no need in digging up and beating that dead old horse. However, there have been some occasions where he’s not been allowed to merely walk away and solve things on his own time… such instances conclude in a rather distasteful or embarrassing way. Despite being a pacifist and one who prefers non-violence, Marcello is not exactly a coward and he can stand up for himself if he truly needs to—even if he’d prefer flight over fight on any occasion. He can put up with a lot of crap and shrug it off, and he’s normally a really composed guy, but he’s not so perfect that he won’t ever lose his cool. Of the things he cannot stand, being bullied/cornered, or having his love ones threatened rank high on the list. As with most people, you don’t simply just bother someone’s friends and family and expect NOT to get yelled at, and that’s exactly what Marcello would end up doing at first, but God forbid you lay a hand on them… He's loyal to family and friends and he isn't fond of seeing them wronged in the least bit. He also doesn’t take kindly to being used as a punching bag. Sure, if you sock him one and move on, that’s one thing—he probably will get pissed and curse you under his breath before going off to do something else. However, if you are holding him down and pummeling him for some stupid reason… don’t think he’s so much of a pacifist that he’s not going to defend his own life. He may not be strong, but surprisingly, he will fight back at least long enough for him to incapacitate the attacker and flee a safe distance to tend to his own wounds. However, it should be noted that the man is a firm believer in retribution for severe and unjustifiable offenses—even if he does not often carry out vengeance with his own hands (and would be more likely to do so in an underhanded, passive-aggressive way rather than through direct confrontation). He is fond of the old code of “an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth,” but that doesn’t mean some offenders don’t deserve to be treated with something akin to the three-fold rule or higher… Finally, one of the worst traits that Marcello harbors is that fact that he can be quite manipulative at times. Sometimes, he doesn’t really realize it until everything is said and over, but being the charmer that he is, it’s just a bit too easy at times. Usually, he’ll try and convince someone to do something for him that he himself does not wish to do and other times, it’s because he requires information for his work. However, there have been moments where he’s used this ability to either worm his way out of trouble or for other selfish reasons. He never means any real harm and tries to ensure that nothing terrible will come as a result of his silver tongue. |

+ Making new friends/Companionship- Marcello has an outgoing personality in the first place and he does enjoy making new friends and expanding his acquaintances. It's also great to have people watching your back, but it's equally as important to have a wide range of people from which you can gather information from when it's need. + Theatre and Fine Art- Though he’s a bit of a simple guy, Marc’s learned to enjoy the finer things in life. Besides, he can always appreciate something that takes skill and is aesthetically pleasing or overall entertaining. Besides, acting's a good practice and definitely helps him keep up whatever role or facade he needs while out in the field. + Water/Swimming- Specifically in the sea or a river. He can swim like a fish, but he also loves to relax and kick back and float--truth be told, he's fallen asleep like that several times, so he needs to watch out and take care not to drown. + Outdoors- He would rather be doing nothing outside than nothing inside. He enjoys taking leisurely, scenic strolls through nature and just around town. + Good Cuisine - He is a bit of an epicure and can be picky about what is good and what is not, but he enjoys sampling trying different foods and drinks from different cultures. However, he's especially fond of Lugirian cuisine (particlarly basil pesto, rabbit dishes, and Taggiasche Olives) He did grow up in that region after all, and that food is seen as a comfort and reminder of home. (Additionally, it's a common misconception that he abuses the use of ketchup. He really doesn't.) + High places/Trees- Marco likes to be up high where he can take in all of his surroundings and it also makes him feel somewhat safe. Besides, his homeland is settled on top of a hill and is protected by mountains so being up and out of the way is just familiar to him. He also enjoys climbing trees from time to time and reclining under them for an afternoon siesta. +Cleanliness- He’s not going to overdo it on this or be obsessive or a neat freak about everything or clean up a mess at the drop of a hat, but he keeps his things relatively neat. If anything, it's an organized (but clean!) mess. + Flower arranging/Floriculture- He likes flowers and he likes art. Why not combine the two and make art with flowers in a way that everyone can enjoy? It’s fairly relaxing and it helps him unwind while turning a profit. He also likes to keep up a small garden of his own where he tries to bigger and more beautiful plants. (And it reminds him of Mama!) + Antiques/Historical Relics and Places - He loves the sense of nostalgia they give off and has a slight bit of joy in learning the history behind them. Also some of this stuff is really, really neat. + History/Myths/Legends - It goes without saying that his homeland is shrouded in a sea of murky, confusing history and it has its share of wondrous events and legends. As such, Marco can appreciate these things and finds them rather exciting and interesting. He's also kind of curious if the legend of the Diadem is true... hmmm.. +Knights- Specifically the Templars . They are dear to his heart considering the hand they played in his homeland's history, not to mention his place is filled with pictures and frescoes depicting them. He also just seems to like Medieval-era stuff in general. + Coins- Marco likes collecting coins. It’s just one of his quirks. He has a small pouch he stashes them in and makes sure to hide that pouch the best way he can. + Internet/Technology/Gadgets – What good spy isn't utilizing these things? No, he's not a savvy hacker or anything of that sort, but he knows how use what he's got to get what he needs... most of the time... Also, the latest doo-dads and stuff for espionage? They're Just really really cool. No one can deny that. Nevertheless, he sometimes has issues regarding their proper use. + Smiles/Laughter - Seeing other people happy makes him happy. To be honest, some of his sillier antics are solely to get his friends (or a stranger) to smile or giggle. It's the best medicine after all! + Happy, bright colors - Colors have a psychological effect on people you know, and Marco is fond of colors that remind him of a spring day, the sun, warmth, or cheery things in general. His favorite colors would most likely have to be yellow (or some form of it), and one of the medium to lighter colored blues. + Sun and Rain- The sun is nice and warm and makes him feel comforted, and the feel of rain against his skin is rather nice and something about it is calming so long as there isn’t a big booming storm attached to the drizzle. He loves it the most when it rains while the sun is out—it’s still warm and cheery, but refreshing and different. + Siestas- He’s usually kind of a sleepy guy anyway and these brief moments of relaxation are perfect for getting recharged and rested. + Women - Ai ai ai--ciâo! Trust me when I say Marcello is a womanizer.. and highly fixated on them. Chances are that if there is a pretty girl in his sights, he’s going to try wooing her or at the very least talking her into one thing or another. + Flirting – He has his own natural Italian Seborgan charm to help him out here, but it’s really fun. And if he causes a little blush…well then, that’s just really cute~ + Instruments/ Singing - Marcello is rather fond of instruments and would love to take up learning one or two himself. He also believes they sound great when accompanied by singing. He can sometimes be fond humming or singing when bored--he has a rather soft, soothing, and warm singing voice. + Playing with hair - More so with others’ hair than his own. He especially likes really long hair since it’s so flowy and easier to toy with to some degree. He can do some really awesome Celtic braids too. Just saying. + Animals - He doesn't have a problem with them, and among his favorites animals are birds and sea creatures (like whales and seahorses). + Soccer- Leave if you don’t like it. Just. Leave. He enjoys playing or watching it whenever he gets the chance. Naturally, he can get a bit more excitable or heated whenever this sport is involved... but that's to be expected. + Nicknames- He actually kinda gets frustrated when people use his full name rather than a nickname (Marcello instead of Marco, for example). He thinks that nicknames just help him and everyone else seem more like a friend and an equal and he'll often give others nicknames. Additionally, whenever someone addresses him by his full name, perhaps with the exception of formal occasions and the like, he may see this as a sign of unfriendliness or irritation. + Recognition- He gets all kinds of exhilarated when recognized for his efforts, especially when it comes to his theatre work. If he's cast as a lead or anything of that sort, you can bet the Seborgan will be beyond happy. He also doesn't mind getting pampered from time to time. | - Being called lazy- Easy-going does not equate to slacker…but he will admit that sometimes he does get a bit unmotivated to do certain things especially if it requires a whole lot of effort or if it's something he really just doesn't want to do... ok yes he is a bit lazy. Just don't call him out on it (not like he'll do much if you do, but still). - Being called a Coward - Yes, he would prefer to not get hurt. Yes, he is more likely to choose flight over fight. Yes, he may cringe whenever his older brothers or more powerful nations raise their voices or get angry with him. No, he is not a coward. A coward is a person who lacks the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things. Marcello is normally passive, and while he, like most sentient beings, would rather remain safe and out of harm's way,he can stand up and withstand trials if he absolutely has to. He's not afraid of as many things as some people may think (at times, one may say he naively brave). - Pain- Who likes pain? Seriously? He'll do do almost anything to avoid physical pain…and emotional pain. But that isn’t to say he can’t withstand it - especially if he has to keep his mouth shut about something. - Unnecessary Conflict/Bullying- Marcello knows that one cannot always avoid conflict, but he does try to stay out of unnecessary ones—even if his alternate occupation makes that a bit difficult from time to time. After all, conflict can usually lead to pain or enemies, and while he does his best to keep his actual identity concealed… well, it’s still in the back of his mind that he could get caught. He also abhors bullying and to him, such is inexcusable. While he may not be one to immediately jump in and save you, he'll at least do a whole lot of shouting to try and create a distraction or let you get to an escape. He also doesn't take kindly to being bullied himself...and if push comes to shove, he will shove back if that's the last option. - Ignored- Marc understands that he doesn’t always need the limelight and he’s somewhat used to being over looked and forgotten. Even though it's helped him in the past, it can get to a persona after a while. He isn’t exactly fond of being ignored for no apparent reason at all… - Excessive/Ill-fitting Swearing- Marc isn’t one to swear very often himself, but he can and will put up with it. That is until your sentences start to sound more like an “obnoxious ‘gangsta’ rap from the hood”--where every other word is something vulgar--than a coherent and structured sentence. If you’re going to do it, at least try to make sense and be classy (well, as classy as one can be while swearing). - Blasphemy/(Religious) Intolerance – He can be a bit religious himself, but he respects the beliefs of others and it really grates on him when people attack a certain group. So what if they aren’t your cup of tea? They aren’t hurting you, so don’t hurt them. Also, while he’s not the most pious person in the word and is definitely not a saint, he doesn’t care too much for heresy or blaspheming against his god or others. He also just can't stand it when people aren't accepting of others due to differences that may be physical, mental, etc. If everyone was the same, the world would be extremely boring and kinda sucky. - Being Poked in the Side – It’s more of a mild annoyance than something he outright hates. Poking him in a specific area in the side will usually make him jerk and make funny sounds as well as laugh. Continuing to do so will result in him squealing like a stuck pig—which is not attractive in the least bit. - Long Work Hours/Working too Hard – Physically at least. While he might not look it, Marco does have a bit of brain power and can pull some things together that you may not expect him to be capable of. However, he’s not exactly a big fan of having to physically work really hard or for really long. It’s just not his style… and yes, he will probably complain about it or be rather hesitant to do such work—especially if it’s the kind that doesn’t push him further up the ranks or otherwise benefit him directly. - Underestimated -- No, he isn't as strong as some of the other agents and there are a lot of things he lacks, but he hates being looked down upon or underestimated. It's really one of his biggest pet peeves. Then again, being underestimated sometimes makes his job a bit easier; so in that regards, keep underestimating him. - Letting His Walls Fall- It’s come with years of practice, but Marcello is rather good at keeping up a ‘poker face’. He will always try to keep up a façade regardless of how he may feel deep down. He’s not scared of letting the closest people see, but he’d rather just keep everything to himself… but he’s has cracked on occasion in front of people. He just turns into this giant mess when he finally crumbles and it’s not a pretty thing to behold. -Extremely Open Areas- Marcello likes open spaces, don't get him wrong, but whenever he's in a place that is just 'too' open he feels extremely vulnerable and exposed (and even lonely if it's a clear open area). He prefers being able to blend in and using the surroundings he has for security and cover. -Hot/Cold- He doesn't like it to be too hot, or too cold, but prefers things to stay rather mild. That’s not to say he’s unused to winter snow or humid summer heat… but he can't handle blistering heat or arctic cold. - Getting Drunk- He's not himself when he's drunk. He turns into...well...an asshole to but things nicely. He gets more aggressive, irritable, mean, and demanding, and has a tendency to swear a lot more when he's had one too many. It also takes him a little longer to recover from hangovers--he feels terrible and he'll want to do absolutely nothing (more so than usual) until he’s completely better. - Heavy Music – He can handle some forms of rock, but hard and heavy music like metal and screamo are out of the question. It makes him feel antsy and almost always gives him a headache. He’ll stick to pop, folk, and other such genres that don’t threaten to make his ears bleed from the sheer intensity of the music. - Guns/Killing – How Ironic. While he does know how to use a gun and has to keep one somewhere due to his line of work, he’s not terribly fond of them. They’re powerful, quick, and deadly. One slip of the finger and you can cause permanent damage or death. Marco feels a bit uneasy having such power resting in his hands, but he’s having to get over that – after all, it’s all part of the job. -Nightmares - He still has some about the first guy he ever killed. Despite the brief 'mandatory' therapy and such, he still has some issues regarding this sort of thing--he feels haunted and hates feeling like the second he falls asleep he'll be plagued with that memory and feeling all over again. -Prominent Burns/Burn Marks – Some people get freaked out by cuts or disfigurement on certain parts of the body. It can be highly unsettling to visual, after all, and most of the time, it’s just gross looking in general. Marco, however, simply cannot stand the sight of severe burns – especially if they are on the feet. -Being tied down – Mostly in the romantic sense, but he doesn’t exactly enjoy being bound by ropes or physical restraints either. One may say, that because of his arranged marriage to the princess of Monaco* when they were both children, that the notion of having to be set up with someone or for something (against one’s will) is even more distasteful to him than to someone who’s never actually experienced that sort of thing. He’ll take his independence and freedom for now, thank you. - Recognition – As an agent or as the ex-Fiancé of the Princess of Monaco, that is. The former is something no agent really wants to have happen outside the ranks of M16. The latter is due to the fact that the incident left a bittersweet taste in his mouth, and while sometimes it’s nice to get an extra this or that or get pampered for it, it’s still kind of annoying and brings up old memories. It’s just a heap of complications. |
Dreams | Fears |
Travel - Naturally, he gets stationed here and there, but he'd like to actually travel for fun one day and without having to worry about any duties or missions that may creep up and interfere with his relaxation. Become Knighted - This is his ultimate goal and perhaps the one thing he will actually work hard for. The tales of the knights from the olden days were something he grew up with as a child, and it's something he'd always kind of fantasized about. Given, he won't be wearing any shining armor, but the thought of being referred to as "Sir Marcello" makes him light up. Live to See Retirement - Being an agent can be dangerous, of course, and not everyone makes it through alive. Marco just hopes he can make it through to see retirement...whenever that would be... if it even really exists for M16 agents. Find the Princess - Despite having been put in an arranged marriage with her at some point, he really did consider the princess as a friend and someone he cared about. When she just disappeared without a trace, it worried greatly. Naturally, he wants to find her again or at the very least find out what happened to her...hopefully, it was nothing dire. Diadem - He ...kind of wants to know the truth about it and see it himself. Given, it's highly unlikely to happen, but really, he's super curious about the legend and wants to investigate it when he's got time. Luxury/Catch a break! - Meaning it'd be awesome for him to be able to star in a major production at some point in his life. That or he'd be really content with living in the lap of luxury... like he almost did back home... | Bad Impression- As irrational as it may seem to some people, Marcello is very much concerned about how others perceive him. He doesn’t want to make a bad first impression or give anyone the wrong idea about him—after all, it just takes one mistake to screw up one’s reputation. Not to mention he needs to make good impressions if he’s to get what he wants from others… and he can’t afford to have them be suspicious of him. Ruined! –He likes to flirt, but honestly, he doesn’t intentionally want to ruin anyone’s relationship with all his own flirting. Not only could that spell disaster for him, but really, who wants to be hurt and have their relationship torn by a third party? Regardless if they knew the other was committed or not... he just doesn't wanna be in that sort of situation. Large Fires – He can stand matches, fireplaces, and small to medium things of the fiery nature (as long as they aren’t too close to his feet), but HUGE bonfires and stuff freak him out. He’ll stare at them with an unblinking gaze and may have to be pulled away by force due to paralysis…that or he’ll automatically flee himself if he’s able. Superstitions Coming True– He’s somewhat religious, but he’s superstitious too. He really won't try anything if there's normally some sort of huge taboo or the like attached to it. Why even chance that sort of thing? Getting Caught or Compromised/Torture/Death- Being an M16 agent its benefits and it has its downfalls… It’s great because as a Sleeper Agent, he doesn’t really have to do anything until he’s called and it can be rather exciting at times. However, there’s always the risk that you’re going to get caught, and that usually isn’t something that people look forward to. Marcello, for one, doesn’t want to have to go through torture and death…and if he’s not able to talk or wriggle his way out of. Well then…let’s not think about that right now. Losing Friends- Though he does travel a lot, it’s nice to be able to have a group of people to call your own. Additionally, it’s GREAT to have people that’ll watch your back and help you out if you need it. For both reasons, Marco isn’t fond of losing friends regardless of whether or not some are just 'allies'. |
Background |
Princesses, knights, royalty, and happily ever after. Those were always in the tales Marcello had heard in his youth and were was always something he fantasized about when he was younger. In truth, he was especially fond of any tales that included knights, and as a child, dreamed of becoming one eventually (just like how a young girl dreams of becoming a princess when she grows up). However, he was not of ‘royal’ blood, nor was his immediate family counted within the higher echelons of society. In fact, Marcello’s conception was a result of a married man’s lust for a local Seborgan florist. So Marcello was a bastard… Fortunately, he was the bastard son of a member of the Vargas household – a name that, thanks to his Grandfather—held some prominence in Italy or at the very least in some regions of the land. Unfortunately, apart from his mother and her relatives (and the occasional visits with his second to oldest brother, Feliciano), Marco didn’t have any contact with the other half of his family and never personally met most of them. Regardless, he still had Vargas blood in him, and that was probably the only thing outsiders cared about. As a result, when he was still a child—by some strange circumstance—was offered to be married to the future Princess of Monaco, Ciel Grimaldi (geographically, their homelands would have been close, so it’s no surprise that one had caught wind of the other). Naturally, he was too young to fully understand the concept of an arranged marriage, but he really didn’t care to dwell on the issue. After all, at around eight years all one really cared about was playing around and making friends and Marcello was no exception. As such, he befriended his betrothed and saw her as little more than a really cute friend that played games, and kicked his butt at playing cards (he has never one against the Ciel. EVER.). The pair was allowed to carry on with such childish antics until their teenage years. By this time, tension had grown within the royal family of Monaco—deadly tension, one may say. As a precaution, the groom-to-be was taken in more or less trained and molded to be a sort of ‘protector’ for the future princess. (It was only sensible that Marcello would be given the task of protecting Ciel—if anything, it was the unspoken duty of a husband.) At first, he was reluctant to go through with this sort of secret security training stuff, but…really, the more he thought about it, the less and less bothered he became. Besides, if all went according to plan, he’d be sitting pretty with Ciel in Monaco…and...well, unsurprisingly, he had developed a crush on the girl as they got older. In that regard, he didn’t have much of a problem having to look out for someone he genuinely cared for (and heck, maybe she’d be impressed by his abilities in the end!). In addition to this new task, Marcello, despite being the future husband of a princess, was not offered much of a chance to get pampered and laze around. Sure, he was able to from time to time (mostly whenever he visited Ciel), but he was also expected to take up a job to show he was capable of providing if they ever fell on hard times. As a result, and in addition to assisting his mother at her flower shop, Marco acquired a job working as a teller at a bank. It wasn’t until the death of Ciel’s parents (when both she and Marco were 16) that things started to tighten up—and yes, even Marcello was suspected at some point, but thankfully, such a notion was dismissed swiftly (especially since their death wouldn’t have benefitted him at all and he had not seen the family in over two weeks). Marco was instructed to keep tight ‘security’ whenever he was around Ciel. He was even allowed and shown how to properly handle a gun at this time – and though it was required, he wasn’t fond of it; it was so much too lethal and quick for his tastes…too powerful for one person, really. Nevertheless, he had to force himself to grow used to carrying the firearm and continued doing his ‘duty’ of protecting his future bride. Until she ran away that is. Marcello didn’t have a clue why, how, or where Ciel had disappeared and the whole situation caused an uproar. The most Marco had received was a note saying she would be back soon. He recognized her writing and the penmanship didn’t appear to be forced or hectic. Deep down, he wondered if she had run away to escape their upcoming marriage—not that he could blame her if she was reluctant or felt no attraction whatsoever, but why would she have left a note for him if she wanted nothing to do with him whatsoever? Regardless, his heart sank in his chest… he had, after all, grown rather attached to the young woman. But now she was gone and it was anyone’s guess where she would be, and of course, Marco did what he could to help as the rest of the family and the officials buzzed about trying to unearth her location. It was his duty, yes, but furthermore, this was a search for a friend; someone he had grown up with and had come to… well, possibly even actually love over time. As it would be expected, the family contacted several outside sources for assistance – one of which was M16. Naturally, the groups worked together to find the Princess of Monaco, but Marco slowly began to migrate toward assisting and joining M16 once he turned twenty-one. Because of his previous training, he was a rather valuable asset and could be used as an agent outside of England—and of course there was the possibility of becoming KNIGHTED, which prompted Marco to lean more toward that organization than the others. Besides, becoming a knight was more or less a childhood dream of his (not to mention becoming one back home in Seborga simply wouldn’t have as much prestige…and most of the time the people that were inducted were much older than he was now…). Regardless, he could be used as mainland intelligence and serve under both M16 and the Grimaldi Royal Family as they searched for Ciel. He also adopted the code name of “The Templar” rather than “The Prince”, which he could have become in time, or “Romeo” which is already part of his name and a term that was often used to describe him in general. Really, the allusion to a Templar Knight was obscure enough to work, but also was a nod to his childhood dream (and he certainly couldn’t be the only one on earth to have wanted to be a knight when they were younger!). He also dropped the Vargas from his last name and began to simply go as “Marcello R. Scordato” so that anyone that paid attention to the news of Monaco wouldn’t automatically recognize him as being from the Vargas household or the (once) suitor of the Princess of Monaco—naturally that could have lead to disastrous consequences. Marcello’s duty took him over the mainland of Europe for the first year to pick up any evidence that may lead to the Princess, but during the process, he was also given other missions by M16 to complete (and yes, during one such mission he was forced to shoot a man and still has nightmares about it…but he was told it’d get better/easier in time to deal with). It wasn’t until he turned twenty-two that he was sent to England with a possible lead on Ciel’s location. Because he was a sleeper agent, staying at the M16 bunker/apartments would have been a bit of a give-away, and getting a lot of aid from back home or through the agency would have been more than just slightly suspicious. Therefore, upon his arrival in the new nation, Marco had to quickly find a job or two and find a decent place to stay, but of course, he was allowed a little bit of financial assistance rather than simply being thrown to the wolves. However, instead of taking back up an occupation as a banker like he had done at home, he instead opted to work at one of the local florist shops since he had experience in floriculture already (thanks to his mother) and enjoyed it much more. Additionally, he also took up working at one of the theatres nearby. It started first as a hobby, but then became more serious since he seemed to have a knack for the profession (and because it certainly could help later on with helping keep a good cover and even with some disguises…maybe). Despite this, Marcello is still moderately active in his search for the Lost Princess of Monaco, and though he is technically ‘asleep’ with regards to M16 and its missions, all it would take is an emergency or a dire need for assistance to get The Templar back up and on his feet for ‘official’ missions and operations. |
Role-Play Sample |
(From a Cardverse RP; Marco had the role of The Joker) Marcello sat quietly—very quietly and very still—as the Queen began to speak once more. He merely bit the inside of his bottom lip as Arthur relayed the events leading up to this point. Yes indeed, he could only imagine the monarch’s face as he took a large gulp of the tea. It had to have been a mix of disgust and rage, he’d imagine. And Marco could only hope that the actual event was rather comical at first. However, the young man gave no sign of his silent musings and kept his eyes on the Queen until the man jabbed a thumb over his shoulder to indicate the guards.Marco had ….never really been too fond of those fellows. They indeed looked like they could snap a man in half as easy as they could a twig. Not only that, their personal auras just screamed ‘unfriendly; touch me and you die.’ Looking to one, he locked eyes for a second and his blood nearly ran cold. He swallowed thickly and swiftly averted his gaze as any sane servant may do. “Th-that-a was rather thought-a-ful of you, M-Majesty…” he muttered. He had not taken another sip of the vile drink, but he had kept it close by. Right now, his fingers were almost locked into place as they curled around the thin porcelain handle of the teacup. He wasn’t exactly shaking in his boots quite yet, but he was definitely intimidated. Regardless, he had yet to bring the liquid back to his lips and sip on the tea—not that he really cared for the drink on a good day. Again, it just wasn’t his preference. At that smile though, his eyes flickered back over to the monarch and he remained attentive. Yes, he was a bit let down that the other staff had confessed so easily. And his features twitched into a look of pain and disappointment. He really should have been more careful this time around—damn those cooks. “No… I-I-a don’t think anyone is-a really a fan of-a being stabbed with-a knives, Mâestæ, o-or-a anything else for-a that matter,” he repeated the title in his native tongue and nodded slowly as the brim of his hat flopped with the motion of his head. He was reluctant to continue drinking, but….the sooner it was gone, the better no? He took a longer sip of the tea and fought back a grimace (though one could easily see the displeasure in his eyes). He fought for the best words to save his own skin, if only because he had been exposed and knew there was no use in trying to cover himself further or blame another. “I-a… um. It-a was all in-a good fun, sci.. Because-a um…” he looked from the guards to the Queen, “…I-a thought our-a good-natured and gracious Queen would-a appreciate some-a-thing a bit more…a-apart of-a the mundane and boring tasks of-a his office,” his lips twitched into a very soft, apologetic smile. “It-a wasn’t really harmful, no? It um… j-just leaves a bad taste in-a the mouth for a bit. I-a would never do anything to-a hurt His Majesty or-a the King.” “Not intentionally.” He shook his head as if to emphasize that point and reached up to scratch at his head a bit. Those dang horns that had come in not long ago (and were still growing) irritated him to no end. He slowly let his hand fall back to cradle the cup he had been given. |

**Please note that the mention of the Princess of Monaco and Ciel Grimaldi is based on interactions and agreements made with our previous Monaco. Should we get another, and they want to explore this concept or ignore it, this can be edited or I'll simply use the aforementioned Princess as an NPC. In short, we'll work around it but ain't nobody got time to go and redo the entire history for this boy. No sir-ee-bob-tail.**
