Antonio Esteban Hernández Carriedo As someone with a cheery disposition and a smile that's as warm as the Spanish sun, Tonio, owner of The Three Amigos, hates seeing anyone in a foul mood and will try to lift their spirits. So don't be surprised if you're offered something on the house or if he dedicates a song to you! However, as much as he loves people and being around them, he does love getting paid just a bit more. That said, please continue ignoring your waiter's presence while he takes notes on yours. |

They say not to judge a book by its cover; however, Antonio’s physical appearances are a very good indicator of how he is personality-wise. Antonio is rather laid-back by nature, and it’s almost as if being near the man has a calming effect on the people nearby. It also may seem as if Tonio doesn’t have a care in the world, and really, why should he? The man doesn’t want to dwell on the past nor does he wish to consider the future. Instead, he would prefer to live in the present. It’s this preference that helps him keep his optimistic views and a pleasant disposition. After all, there is no use in worrying with the things you cannot change or the things that are yet to come; instead, one must sit back and enjoy what they have at their fingertips at this very moment. As such, he’s not really one that feels the need to change with the times (nor does he) and he has a very ‘my pace’ sort of attitude with everything and rather hates being bossed and ordered around by others. In short, he’s prone to do what he wants, when he wants, and however he wants to do it…which may or may not always come to a disastrous end. He is also not very good at reading and understanding the atmosphere and may come off as insensitive and clueless (especially with regards to others’ feelings), but he means well, he really does. He just doesn’t always get it. Unfortunately, and in addition to his obliviousness and apparent inability to read the mood, Antonio is also fairly gullible and easily confused—and some may say, thickheaded. He’s fine with pranks and can take jokes in good stride if you pull one over on him, but he’s never really fond of it when people completely take advantage of him. After all, who in their right mind likes to be used? Regardless, the outgoing, (and sometimes random and goofy) Spaniard is hardly ever found without a smile or a cheery look, even if there doesn’t seem to be a cause or reason for it and it’s rather difficult to completely erase the expression from his face. It almost goes without saying that he hates seeing others who are not happy since he himself is such a bubbly fellow. In fact, he dislikes whenever he sees someone that’s sad, upset, or just overall in a bad mood. You can guarantee that he’ll try and cheer them up—through one method or another—even if it may mean he’s got to make himself a bit of a fool to do it. In the end, however, he always feels that it’s worth it to make someone else feel a bit better about themselves or their circumstances, and really, he doesn’t mind being pegged as being a little bit silly. Additionally, Tonio has a penchant for giving out compliments or praise even if the reason in question seems rather insignificant. If you do something small—be it giving a gift or looking nice in a new dress—he’ll compliment you or the thing you did to no end and may also get excited about it (especially if it was something done for him or is something that’s a rather ‘big’ change). Antonio has a big heart, is kind, and tends to put others before himself if they are someone he cares for or if they are someone that relies upon him. Tonio is the kind of man that will ensure that you have new clothes and a full belly even if he has to wear the same old rags day in and day out or will otherwise suffer for his own kind deed. However, you’ll never hear him complain about it and he will continue going along as if everything is just as fine and dandy as it can be. Additionally, he will lend a hand to anyone that appears to need it because knows he’s capable of supporting people and he doesn’t really mind being relied upon. He especially has a fondness for children and honestly has no qualms with being a guardian to them. After all, his patience knows no bounds when dealing with niños, and he’s willing to play with them or care for them for however long is necessary (and then some). He’ll do so regardless of whether or not the children in question seem to appreciate his efforts themselves. When it comes to other responsibilities and the like, Antonio isn’t afraid of them, and is actually a rather hard worker whenever he needs to be. However, he can get derailed on occasion and distracted if something pleasing or interesting catches his eye. As previously mentioned he rather likes the thought and feeling of being relied upon and has a somewhat self-sacrificing nature about him. Antonio is very loyal to those he deems friends, family, and allies, and he is a rather trustworthy fellow. Likewise, he has a tendency to trust others and is a rather honest man…more or less… Thanks to his job as a broker, he’s finally starting to realize there are some people that you really shouldn’t trust, but he’s still not seen the need to dish out any misinformation. Yet. Antonio is also a very flirtatious and affectionate individual. When he’s not using his innate charm, natural good looks, and a few choice words to woo someone, then he’s probably trying to show off his rather sensual dancing skills or serenade someone with a his guitar and a romantic ballad. He knows a thing or two about romance, after all, and may come across as a romantic himself. Despite this, he isn’t the sort of fellow to completely believe in something such as love at first sight; that’s a bit out there, even for him. Regardless, he does love to show his fondness through hugs, kisses, doting, gifts and the like. He’s not normally shy about it either, but will refrain from doing anything grossly inappropriate. Additionally, he’s a very tactile sort of fellow and will often touch and fiddle with things (be it someone’s soft face or hair, his own cross necklace, or whatever) whenever he’s deep in thought or daydreaming. Somehow, it helps him focus or ease his nervousness/troubles. Speaking of nervousness, whenever Antonio does get nervous, or just outright embarrassed, it’s not uncommon to see him blush or to have him stutter or mess up his English more than usual. In fact, when he’s completely embarrassed, he will often just revert right back into his lisp-infused Castillian Spanish, and speak nothing but that until he’s calmed down and issued a few nervous chuckles. These moments may come from a variety of things ranging from his own obliviousness in how he words or does something and then having it pointed out, to someone else’s innuendo or forwardness (yes despite being passionate and the occasional flirt, he can get flustered quite easily when he is on the receiving end and finally realizes it) and anything in between. Antonio is also a fairly religious man who tries to abide by the guidelines and rules of his faith. He has not gone without conflict and guilt, however, especially since he’s had to take up an extra job that may be seen as a bit distasteful (and also because of his own sexuality). Nevertheless, he’s always been able to come to terms with himself in the end —even if an excessive amount of prayers and mea culpa’s preceded such. It might also be noted that he has a golden cross that he wears at all times and will never take it off unless he feels he has done something to shame or taint it. Despite everything else, when it comes right down to it, Antonio is a man of passion. When he feels something, he feels it strongly, be it joy, sorrow, pain, anger, or love. He himself is overflowing with that emotion and though he is rather calm at times, he can and will get overly excited and energetic should anything trigger that passionate side of him. In some ways, especially with love and caring, the Spaniard could even be described as recklessly passionate. He will pour 1,000% of himself into whatever/whoever he feels for, and yes, he is willing to suffer through the hardships of that decision. But how else could he show that he truly and deeply cared? Antonio, along with being very passionate, can also be very sensitive. Because he does feel so much emotion it’s really not that hard to hurt his feelings or get him upset, but he’ll rarely ever let such feelings as extreme sorrow or anger show fully around certain people or during certain circumstances. A small twitch of the brow of the slight falter in his smile may be the only indication one has that he’s been hurt or offended if it’s a minor thing (which he will naturally just let roll off of him and get over as quickly as possible). However, more major offenses or issues may be dealt with via open displeasure, or simply by excusing himself until he’s able to return with a grin on his face. Even so, Antonio isn’t too proud to seek advice or comfort from those that know him well enough, but it doesn't happen all the time. However…like a book, there are multiple chapters to Antonio, and though he is a man of passion and cheer, he also has a mysterious aura of light and darkness that surrounds him. And no matter how much he’d rather focus on the light, he has his own secrets concealed in the dark. For example, despite the man’s simplistic tastes and attitude, Antonio can and has been known for being greedy at times (especially for power and money). That said, it's not unheard of to bribe him if you've got the dough. He is also rather possessive of what he has and can even be described as jealous of others when the occasion arises. After all, when he has someone or something he treasures in his grasp, he will ensure that it remains his. As such, anyone that enters into a relationship with him can expect to be protected and cared for deeply, but it would behoove them to not have wandering eyes or hands (for the sake of the other/third person, really). While it is not necessarily a negative, Antonio also has learned to be rather persuasive throughout his lifetime. More often than not, however, he is using these skills as a sort of encouragement or incentive to get one to do what he wants (especially when around or dealing with children when the ‘firmer and fatherly’ tactics seem to fail him). However, there have been times when he’s used his persuasiveness to be a bit more manipulative in order to worm his way out of an otherwise tight or sticky situation. Antonio, like others, also has a tendency to hold grudges and want to avoid those who have wronged him. However, he does not simply hold a grudge over petty incidents or one-time deals. No, it takes numerous occasions of intentional wrongdoing (or a severe wrong) to turn a relationship with the Spaniard into something sour and create bad blood between Antonio and whoever else is at fault. Otherwise, the minor things will slide off like water off of a duck’s back, and he will grin and bear it until it passes completely. The absolute worst trait Antonio seems to harbor is his temper. It can be described as bad at best, and can be triggered by a myriad of things. However, if by some chance he has been provoked enough and his temper does flare, Antonio can become downright vicious and forceful. When taking the man’s normally cheerful disposition into account, it’s not only just scary to see such a change, it’s downright terrifying –enough to the point where even the most stoic of people may go wide-eyed in fear or disbelief. Though he tries to keep it under wraps for the most part, the one sure way to get him to this point doesn’t require as much effort as one may think. Sure, getting him to drink will also make him sentimental at first, but if you get him drunk, you better run or be prepared to witness one extremely scary and mean Spaniard. Nevertheless, these negative pieces of him are often hidden with a conscious effort and behind a plethora of laughter and smiles. Even if they are bubbling just below the surface (at some times more so than others), Antonio feels no need in letting anyone around him see anything but his best. |

The Sun - the sun is warm, makes things grow, and often is used as a symbol for happiness. Additionally, just being outside in the sun tends to rejuvenate someone and give them more energy. So, really, who wouldn't like this celestial entity? Siesta,Fiesta,Forever - Siesta time is an extremely important part of the Spaniard's day. He needs that hour or so of rest around midday so he can keep going for the remainder of the day. If he's denied his daily nap, not only will he be less energetic, but he'll also be a bit on the cranky side. Conversely, he also really likes to participate in parties and festivals. They're loud, fun, and have a ton of stuff to offer--not to mention all the people one can meet there. Tomatoes/Churros/Seafood- Yes, he does like food in general... HOWEVER, Tomatoes have to be the food of the Gods. Period. No debate--they're too delicious and beautiful not to be. He also has a fondness for churros (which he will pretty much eat at any time of the day) and seafood--which is more or less a type of staple in his diet. Antonio is also quite fond of sweets and desserts. Sangria - this is his poison of choice and the one drink he'll normally go to whenever he does decide he needs something a little more potent. It's not only sweet, but the bits of fruit and the added brandy are a really nice touch--and tasty! Cute things- Animals, small items, people... If it's cute, more than likely, Antonio will like it. He also seems to be especially fond of turtles and bulls (they can be cute too, ok.) Children- Tonio has a special place in his heart for children. They're so young and lively and cute and innocent and say the darndest things. They're also honest and genuine and have a knack for catching on quickly to some things. Tonio adores them so much that it'd be very like he tries to adopt one if he could never have one himself. He's also just very good with children in general and has a very high amount of patience for them. Guitar- or really music in general, but he does have a fondness for the guitar (especially the way a classical Spanish guitar sounds). There is just something about it that is both soothing and romantic--not to mention playing one takes a lot of skill and Antonio respects that. Singing and Dancing- As with pretty much anything the man does, whenever Tonio sings or dances, it is full of passion and energy. He not only is letting his song or his dance say what he verbally cannot, but he is letting a part of his soul show through. The dances that he enjoys most are sensual, intimate, and romantic (such as Tango, Salsa, Rumba, Flamenco, etc) and he is rather fond of singing cheery, upbeat songs, ballads, or some that are more romantic (they work great with the guitar to serenade a lover, after all). Affection- Tonio is a very tactile and affectionate man. He thoroughly enjoys hugs and the like, but he also has a tendency to want to touch whoever he's interacting with (nothing inappropriate, but a touch to the shoulder of a friend or a pat ont he back or the like is perfectly suitable). Really, he just wants to ensure that others know they're cared for and that he can comfort them or cheer them up if they need it. People- Tonio is an extrovert and he is quite outgoing. Not only that, but he's a bit of a people pleaser and if he can make someone else happy, then he's happy. Being such a social butterfly also makes his job as a broker a whole lot easier sometimes. Flirting- it would be almost ridiculous not to say that a passionate person such as Tonio wouldn't enjoy flirting from time to time. He doesn't tend to come off as a strong or aggressive flirt most of the time (unless he's completely fallen head over heels), but rather, he uses his natural talents and looks and seductive ways to woo whoever he's got his eye on at the time. The Simple Things- If you can't enjoy the simple things in life, what can you enjoy? Tonio realizes that he doesn't necessarily have to have the most or biggest materialistic things or have to have a crowd of people fawning over him to be happy (though admittedly, he wouldn't mind it, and those are both nice thoughts and something to aim for...). He lives in the present and what it has to offer--every tiny tomato, child's laugh, drop of rain, or ray of sun he has come to enjoy equally and not take for granted. Juicy Tidbits - It goes without saying, but the jucier the information, he can gather, the bigger his payoff. And he can always stand a bit more money. Gardening - Tonio has a bit green thumb and enjoys trying to grow plants when he can--especially tomatoes. It can be hard work, but it's relaxing and well worth the effort in the end. He also likes to use his own produce in his cafe whenever he can. Money & Power - ...yeah, he's a rather laid back person, but he does like money. And he does like being the boss and all perks that come from being one. Besides, in this day and age, if you don't have money and/or power, then you're not really anyone and you're definitely not going anywhere anytime soon. Good Tippers/Polite Patrons - It's great to get a nice tip when they're dished out and he's glad to have some polite patrons (or any, really, that come more than once). It'll brighten his day if he's been having to put up with demanding or otherwise irritating and rude clients. | London’s Weather – Rain is great. Rain helps things grow. But really…REALLY does it have to be so blah around here most of the time? Gloom- Being the cheerful man that he is, gloominess and sad people aren't exactly something he likes to be around. If at all possible, he will try and cheer up whoever he can to brighten up a situation and make those around a bit happier. (Constant) Negativity/Pessimism - Everyone has bad days, but when you’re constantly a downer, it gets on everyone nerves… even his after a while. As such, he tries to avoid those who just have negative outlooks and attitudes on everything and all the time. He also really hates having to see the more negative side of humanity… but he’s had to learn that not everything in the world is sunshine and rainbows. Darkness/Coldness- Not only are both rather uncomfortable, but they are unnerving. He would much prefer to stay curled up in a nice warm place where he can actually see, thank you. (That doesn’t mean, however, that he’s opposed to going out at night to clubs or anything like that.) That Devil Language- Called Portuguese. It's irritating, really, because he cannot seem to understand a darn thing of what people are saying, but they are able to understand his Spanish perfectly fine. It's not fair. At all. Threats- Yes, he’s got information. Yeah, he’ll sell it to you for a price. No, he does not like having his own safety or the safety of his loved ones put in jeopardy. Unfortunately, it’s bound to happen in his line of work at one point or another. People Bothering His Loved Ones- This is a big no-no. He and his family may have their issues and sometimes, yes, he and his friends may act a bit harshly to one another (rest assured the pranks and name-calling are usually all in good fun and they realize that), but under no circumstances will he tolerate anyone bothering the people he cares for. He will come to their aid. Being Excluded- Because Tonio is so extroverted and loves people, it kind of hurts when he's intentionally excluded or ignored. After all, he wants to feel just as wanted or loved as the next person. Rude/Violent people - He's definitely had his share of them. He tries not to treat them any different from his normal customers, but really, just because your day sucks doesn't mean you need to make everyone else feel terrible too. Furthermore, why do some people feel the need to be excessively violent!? That's ridiculous! If you're rude or violent around him, you can be double sure he's writing that down and passing it to the first person that wants your info. Crying- while sometimes crying can be a good, happy thing, Antonio doesn't like it when it's reasons are for sadness and distress. Seeing someone cry makes his heart sink and he would like nothing more than to rush over and try to cheer them up and forget about whatever bothered them in the first place. Additionally, he does not like when he himself cries--especially since he's supposed to be a all smiles and happiness. He'll choke down whatever tears he has and excuse himself from others for a moment if he feels them start to creep up. Being taken Advantage of- Tonio may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, and it's easy to take advantage of him because he can be so gullible, but if he finds out you did do such a thing, he won't be happy about it--who would? But really, it just makes him feel horrible and stupid and that's never a good thing. Being Yelled At/Use of His Full Name- No one likes being scolded or yelled at and Antonio is no exception. However, if you really want to strike the fear of God in him, yell at him while using his full name "Antonio Esteban Hernández Carriedo"...he'll know you mean business then and will likely try to make up whatever he did to make you so angry at him in the first place. Awoken- As mentioned, siestas are important for the Spaniard and he needs them to function properly. He doesn't like being prodded (or jostled) mid-rest and you'll probably get grumbled at and told to shoo--or threatened with a pillow if he's really still tired. Getting Drunk/Angry- He knows he's a mean drunk and that he can get pretty darn scary and easily provoked into violence. As such, he really dislikes getting to that point and tries to moderate himself. He also has a tendency to have quite the temper from time to time and well...he'd rather just not get angry if he could help it. Silence- He knows that silence is sometimes necessary, but Antonio isn't fond of prolonged periods of silence. It's unnerving and he's prone to break them with a question or a remark or a joke if he is found in one. Being Bossed Around – There’s a reason he owns his own business. He doesn’t like being told what to do and when to do it and he’s not going to want to follow anyone’s orders but his own. If you have a problem with that, then you should probably go elsewhere, amigo. Mumblers – Gosh, please speak up so he can hear you and collect information properly!.. I mean… so he can carry on a decent and civil conversation with you~ Damage to his Ego - Believe it or not, Antonio is still rather prideful and he doesn't care for anything to cut into that. Therefore, he really hates when he's openly degraded, slandered, forced into submission, or when he loses. Competition - Oi. A man's gotta make money and if there are people around with similar services, well, it's not something he cares all that much for, compredes? |
Dreams | Fears |
Successful Business/Reputation - Right now, his business isn't doing as good as it could be since it's so small and rather new, but he's got high-hopes that it will take off in time. He'd be beyond overjoyed to own a well-known cafe and maybe turn it into something a bit bigger later on! If anything, being well-known for something (like his guitar playing) and profiting even more from that would be ideal as well. Family - Not only would he like to see his own again, but he'd like to start one eventually. However, being in a position where coercion is a very real tactic in getting what people want... he's a bit afraid to try and initiate anything more than a few dates or one-night stands. For now. Comfortable, Civilian Life- He wouldn't be one to complain if he actually could lay his head down without having to worry about it getting lobbed off from some pissed off client... Not only that, he wouldn't be opposed to living life in a position of ease and have a few things he didn't necessarily need. Hey, maybe one day he can. | Hurting an Innocent- He’s a broker. He provides information. What others do with that information is technically none of his business. However, he’d feel terrible if he was involved getting an otherwise innocent person hurt or in deep trouble (though he probably hasn't realized quite yet that this has likely already happened). He also is a bit worried about hurting someone himself. Physically. He can get pretty nasty when he’s drunk you know. Lonliness- While he does live and work alone for the most part, he fears being alone completely. It's terrifying to think that he'd be left to himself without any friends or family and that strangers would pay him no mind. It would be on heartbreaking and terribly depressing to say the least. Letting People Down- When he's not able to make someone happy or he's disappointed them in some way, the people pleasing side of him almost demands that he try harder, despite his heart breaking a bit. Regardless, it's a bit frightening because he does want to be able to be relied on and help, but when he fails at such a thing, it's a wake up call and a pretty big downer (which he will promptly try to pull himself out of by making it up to whoever he let down--in turn, that makes him feel a bit better.) Losing Loved Ones- It's one thing to be left alone, but it's another thing to have people you love plucked away from you. Antonio is terrified of losing his family--be it from death, someone taking them or causing them to turn on him, or from him scaring them away himself (by getting drunk one too many times or the like). He may have a lot of acquaintances, but the surest way to cut him down would be to strike at the source and harm the ones closest to him. Scaring- People/Letting Them See Anything but His Best- The Spaniard is normally happy, bubbly, and full of energy and he'd prefer people continue seeing him in such a way. Yes, he has more emotions than just cheer, but he doesn't always want or need anyone to see the more negative ones because 1. that'll do nothing but make them sad or hurt too 2. it may scare them. Antonio would rather just put on a brave or happy face and let people see him at his best and never at his worst--regardless of who they are. Selling out to the wrong people – on one hand, there’s a more lawful group of individuals that are more prone to locking you up for a bit or relocating you if you cross them. On the other hand, there’s a group that are more prone to killing you and your family for misinformation. Or that’s how it is in Tonio’s mind. He walks a fine line already, but he’s worried what may happen should he ever cross said line for one side or the other… Getting Closed Down/ Being Poor - Right now, the cafe is Tonio's only STABLE and constant source of income. He'd be devastated if it were to fail or fall out due to competition. |
Background |
Antonio was born a twin, but to whom, his mother never said. In fact, after his mother and father divorced (for whatever reason) and moved apart, such a thing was never even mentioned. Regardless, the boy was born and raised in Madrid, Spain with his mother while his father departed for who knows where. At first, Antonio wasn’t terribly bothered by not having a father—and his mother, being the strong woman she was, seemed perfectly capable of fulfilling any and all duties necessary to her job, running a household, and caring for her son. Of course, as Tonio grew older, he hated seeing her wearing herself out so much, and offered help from time to time when he wasn’t already being pulled into doing annoying chores. However, with age and an exposure to other children and their ‘traditional’ parents, Antonio began to question why exactly he only had a mother… As children are apt to do, he came home one day after playing with his friends and asked exactly that with the most curiously concerned face he could muster. The woman, though she had distaste for her previous husband, tried to explain to Antonio as gently as she could… even if she did more or less dance around the personal issue every time it was brought up. The inquisitions ceased, however, around his eighth year when his mother decided to try dating again and finally remarried It seemed that the act had silenced the young Spaniard’s curiosity and filled a role in the boy’s life that had been previously left vacant. With his new stepfather, Tonio seemed to dismiss his birth-father’s absence from his life and instead focused on the presence of the man that had chosen to stay. Thankfully, the relationship with Antonio’s stepfather was a rather good one. While his mother had taught him the necessary skills of cooking and cleaning for oneself (among other things) her new husband introduced Antonio to a few hobbies and began to take the boy out for a bit of bonding. Antonio’s favorite activities, unsurprisingly, were watching the Matadors with his father and learning to play the guitar. Despite the fact that he looked up to the bravery and skill of the Matadors, he had a natural talent with the classical guitar and pursued that instead (much to his mother’s relief). As a reward for doing so well with practice, Antonio’s father soon bought him a guitar of his own – it became his prized possession and one that he used constantly to serenade and soothe his family and friends (and later in his middle and high school years, to woo a few cuties). Tonio remained with his parents until he was eighteen and got a job as a waiter, but he kept in contact when them while living on his own. Several years later, when he was twenty-two, he received an invitation from a cousin on his step-father’s side to play at her wedding (apparently, his skills with the guitar had been shared without him realizing it). The newlyweds were, of course, willing to pay his plane ticket there and back and provide him with a place to stay for a night or two. Antonio accepted, of course, and before long was on his way to London for the wedding. However, after the ceremony, things seemed to go downhill. As the man was in a new place he, of course, wanted to check out what the streets of London had to offer before he had to fly back home in a few days. This mostly meant what sort of parties he could worm his way into. On a few occasions, he was lucky enough to nab himself a cutie for the night, but it happened to be one of those cuties that made off with his tickets, cell phone, and any money he had brought with him while he was still sleeping off the previous night. Thankfully, she had left the guitar, since it would have been a burden to carry anyway. Left with little more than his suitcase, his guitar, and the clothes on his back, Antonio (after reporting the deed to the police) did what he could to earn a few funds to get back home. Considering he was a bit too prideful to ask his family for more money; and would have seen it as a terrible shot to his ego after having been on his own for not very long, he did what any sensible person in his situation would do: play on the streets for change. That plan, however, didn’t exactly go as he had hoped. He had made a bit of extra cash (enough for a meal or two) but not nearly enough to find a decent place to stay on his own, much less get a ticket back to Spain. However, due to his ability to make fast friends, he was able to find a temporary place to stay with some acquaintances he had made—and yes, this time he was much more mindful of his wallet. During this time, he continued to play guitar on the streets, but also took up a few gigs in nearby bars and clubs. They didn’t pay much, but it was better than nothing at all, and he slowly became something of a crowd favorite. Before long, he was finally able to get a room for himself rather than hopping from friend to friend. By now, his departure date and plane ticket had long since expired, but he was doing marginally better than he had been back home. As a result he more or less just shrugged off the situation and decided he’d make due with what he had in London—there was no use in stopping a good thing to go back to just waiting on people for minimum pay, after all. Tonio, however, was not fully content with just playing gigs here and there, and once he had juuust enough funds (and of course a bit of help with the legalities from a rather One night, while helping his waiting staff, he couldn’t help but overhear a few…rather questionable conversations. Naturally, he couldn’t help but pause and look over to the men that were conversing from time to time; he was curious. Besides, who really cares if your innocent waiter overhears you? How many people even pay attention to them unless they’re refilling a glass or taking your order? They must have either noticed his curious glances or realized that he could be a potentially valuable asset because of peoples’ penchant for ignoring waiters, but before they left, the two individuals shoved a few extra pounds into his hands with venomous glares and orders to keep his mouth shut…but to also keep his eye out for a specific individual. “We’ll be waiting.” As any other normal person would be, Tonio was a bit unnerved. He didn’t have a clue who the hell those people were, what they wanted, or why they wanted it, and he wasn’t entirely fond of the repercussions that may come as a result of his refusal to cooperate. However, he did come to realize that that fist of money could be replenished for just a few bits of information to this party or another… With money has his motivator, Antonio began feeding different parties information and slowly started to establish his reputation as a Broker. Though he does not discriminate between clients (yet), he is wise enough to know it would be a terribly bad idea to let one party know that he also supplies data for the other. As for one day finding his way back home, he may go back to visit here and there, but because of his growing lust for and accumulation of wealth, he’s content with remaining in London for the time. After all, if it’s not broke—don’t fix it. With regards to any conflicts in the future, he’s not necessarily worried about them and continues to handle things on a day by day basis. Besides, as the saying goes: Que será, será. |

(From Long Live Ignorance) The streets were as busy as always—and in fact, the Spaniard couldn’t recall a time when they hadn’t been crowded from side to side. He didn’t mind it, of course; it was home, and home was always a good place to be. …or at the very least he was in the heart of the kingdom he called home Sparing smile and a wave to a few passers-by, he continued through the streets, humming and singing softly under his breath as he tried to keep his steed in line. Especially from stepping on anyone’s toes or from running into anyone and hurting them or making them drop something… ai yai yai… that was never a fun thing to have happen. “Pero, at least he’s not trying to bite anyone today,” Antonio’s face split into a larger grin at the thought and took one hand away from the reigns long enough to draw his hand over his forehead to wipe away some a few beads of sweat. “Y at least no one’s bothered by my being here,” the knight sighed to himself and shook his head as emerald eyes peered over the rest of the market’s patrons. It had indeed been bothersome the first few times—and while Tonio didn’t necessarily mind attention, getting stared at and whispered about was just a bit unsettling. At least here he didn’t have to deal with any of that; the people were rather acclimated to seeing soldiers in the street be they on horseback or on foot. However, despite a knight (in shining armor, mind you) being a rather common sight, there was something—someone—that wasn't, and it piqued the man’s interests. Goading his grey Cartujano stallion toward a specific stall, he squinted against the sun. Antonio could have sworn he recognized the brunette, but he wasn’t entirely sure from this distance. In any case, it seemed as if the other was busy conversing with a merchant, so that allowed Antonio a bit of time to dismount and get Inigo tied up. Shifting through the crowd, he made his way back toward the man and reached to tap him on the shoulder. “Oi… Amgio! Don’t I know you from somewhere?” a brow lifted in curiosity, but he was already rather sure of the man’s identity - and his grinning from ear to ear seemed to betray that. |
