If there was one word to describe Elliot it would be bizarre or soft. [+]Quiet: He doesn’t speak much, and he prefers to listen to people than talk about himself, because of this he ends up being a better listener, than anything else. Despite his mysterious aura he is very gentle, if you get a chance to talk to him, you will find him watching you attentively without any irritancy in his exterior. [+/-]Mysterious: Elliot can come off as mysterious in part because he is quiet, and in part because and he doesn’t speak much about himself. He also is mysterious because most of his replies are short. Most of the time he seems as if he were stoic or as if a lost look covers his gaze, so it is a surprise when you see him explode in laughter or smile whole heartedly, he just finds it hard to express himself sense he is so used to hiding his feelings. [+]Sensitive: Elliot on the other hand is very sensitive, and can get his feelings hurt quiet easily he despite his aloof appearance he is not always successful, in hiding things. Most of his facial expressions are subtle though, but if you pay close attention, small traces of his body language and face will give him away. Most of the time, you can tell when something interests him deeply and when something has him bothered. One thing that is rare to see is a whole hearted smile, most of the time a small enigmatic smile, crosses his face. Or if he dislikes you, then a cocky and smug smile might encompass his lips. Something that Elliot cannot hide is fear, and anger… he can control it, but when it happens it leaks out. [-]Aloof: He has a dreamy haze that clouds his eyes when he is reading a book, but he is usually distracted, thinking about music, or a book he read, poetry and philosophical stuff in question. If he is not thinking about any of these then he is trying to figure out how to fix a certain device in the lab. [-]Limited self esteem: This doesn’t mean he thinks lowly of himself, he just doesn’t think anything at all about himself. Sometimes, if he considers himself anything, he considers himself: alert when it comes to his work, but that is it. If you were to call him intelligent he would probably give you a small enigmatic smile as if to say: I am not so sure of that. [-]Limited sense of other people’s belongings: He usually picks up things just because he needs them, and he believes they will either be good for repairing that screwy copy machine or he believes that they will help him build that device that the headmaster wants. If you suddenly find out that your hair brush is missing, or you can’t find your watch, there is a chance that Elliot has it with him, and he thought the small screws in the watch would be good for fixing that cell phone, or that broken CD player. [+]Understanding: He tries to understand people most of the time, just to figure out how to avoid problems, avoid getting into fights, and avoid getting hurt most of the time. If he can figure out how a person’s mind works, and what bothers the person, or makes a person flare up and what doesn’t, he never uses it to harm a person, he only uses it to avoid problems. [+]Easy going, he will not look for a fight or argue about many things, he is not going to hurt you or insult you, nor is he going to bother you for any remote reason. He will let you win a fight, he will let you have the last word in an argument, and if he sees it necessary he will apologize, the bad thing is sometimes he will apologize even if it is not his fault. He tends to avoid yelling at people and will sometimes apologize in public if it is the only way to have peace with said person. [+]Gentle: This is something that many girls found attractive about Elliot, it’s as if a sweet aura seems to leak out of him, and aura that he doesn’t notice. He was always nice, even if he was not having the best day, he was not going to let that get in the way of friendships or his relationships with people. Still despite his gentleness he didn’t date anyone, he promised his grandma he would not date until he was 18, still after being 18 he hasn’t met anyone that causes him to fly to the heavens. [-]Misplacing things: Elliot has a real talent for misplacing things, sometimes if he does not use it for himself, in his aloof daze he will take it, use it for some experiment and you will find it in the most outrageous place you can imagine.. or more likely the most outrageous place you can’t imagine. Your cell phone or lipstick whatever Elliot took could end up in the refrigerator or in the bathroom, or even in the kitchen cupboard. This talent of his tends to irritate his coworkers so if you lose something, make sure Elliot doesn’t have it with him because knowing Elliot he could end up mailing your gun to Cuba without really wanting too. [-]Limited sense of shame: He seems to lack... I guess shame, you could make him wear an apron or a girly fuzzy jacket and he won’t see what’s so funny about it. He just doesn’t see how that velvet jacket doesn’t favor him, or that silly hat makes him look goofy. You have to find a way to tell him that cheetah spotted trench-coat actually is women’s wear, and that those fuzzy blue gloves are for teens. Fortunately he has enough sense not to wear dresses, high heels, or women’s jeans or panty hose, but he seems to lack sense for everything else. [+]Curiousity: Despite his mysterious exterior underneath it lies sometimes insatiable curiosity… it is something he can’t help. He will sneak around you to figure out what are you working on. He will wonder a lot of things, and will sometimes like to spy on people for no apparent reason other than because he is bored. Still he tries to resist himself from this curiosity of his sense he knows it could end up getting him in trouble instead. [+]Child-like: Elliot will get excitable or incredibly happy when he figures out how to fix something, and he will show it to you, with shining delight, as if a child where showing it to his father. His child like exciment is something you don't see often, but it is delightful to see it. If something makes him feel good, he will behave almost like a child, and in turn will surprize coworkers of acquaintances. [-]Mistrusting: Despite his child-like excitement, he is mistrusting towards people, and sometimes is thinking about what will happen or when an adverse reaction will occur. He is not always negative like this but sometimes he tends to be this way, or get kind of cautious when something is out of the ordinary. Still he tries not to let his mistrusting side get the best of him... well sometimes. [+/-]Hard working: Elliot is obedient, and quick when responding to orders, when it comes to his work he doesn’t set it for later and does it as soon as possible. He sometimes doesn’t even eat sense he get so busy, he takes his job seriously. Very seriously. You do have to interrupt him and sometimes force him to take a break sense most of the time, he is working even in his free time he is almost always fixing things. [+]Protective: He will take care of himself and others around him, in part because he never had protection or someone to care for him, and he yearned for it, and in part he will protect because he knows what it feels like to not be protected. He is the type of guy that despite his fear he will tell you to save yourself in the face of danger, and will run in the opposite direction to distract the enemy. [+]Sincere: Last but not least Elliot is sweetly sincere. He will sometimes openly say things that he feels despite the fact that normal people will not do such things. He will not hesitate to say that: “You are beautiful”. It most of the time happens that he will say it when you least expect it and usually takes coworkers by surprise. |

Vash: He deeply admires Vash, although he has never directed a word to him. So doesn’t know much about this MI6 agent, but Elliot loves how professional and strong he seems. Elliot secretly wishes to be as strong and brave as Vash one day. He will often take the time to repair, some of Vash’s gadgets if it will allow him to watch Vash from a far. Flowers: They smell nice and they look nice, and they remind him of Alice. She was delicate and sweet. She always seemed like flower. He still thinks of her.. a lot. Books: Almost any book is good just as long as it is not horror. He will devour it and enjoy it till the end, and will randomly memorize phrases and dialogue that most inspires him, or that he likes the most. Poetry: This guy can memorize a full poem, and recite it with such drama and enthusiasm. Although he has never recited anything in public, he most of the time keeps his poetry and everything to himself. Electronics: Repairing them, and figuring out how they work, is good, also knowing what type of circuits do they have, and knowing if he can fix it to make do even more cooler tricks, is always good. Repairing things: It doesn’t have to be an electronic, Elliot’s a handy man. You don’t need to call a carpenter, just ask him to fix the table leg for you, and he shall do it in a jiffy. Something wrong with the stove? Call him he is sure to figure it out. The light bulb is giving you problems? Elliot knows how to handle that. Jazz, swing and blues: It is so soothing… all hell can be breaking loose in Elliots mind, and if he picks up jazz or swing. Ahh! …Sweet relief. | People who get in his way: If you are not going to help doing the right thing and all you are going to do is make things more complicated and follow rules, that will otherwise do more bad than good then, Elliot is going to disobey, and he is going to disobey big time despite that he can lose his job. Nights without sleep: He knows he is sure to feel weak when it is morning if he didn’t sleep much, so he tends to dislike nights like these still he tries to not worry if he can’t sleep, and will instead try to find something to think about. Huge crowds of people: They can be very intimidating. Staying away from them is a lot easier than dealing with them. The reason why he can’t handle large crowds is because he cannot understand people, despite that he was in a lot of foster homes, most of the time when he was in foster homes, he was bullied and when he was not bullied, he was alone, so he didn’t socialize much. Silence: Sometimes, it bugs him. If something is too quiet he will look for music. Only on days when he feels irritated by something, or he just wants peace, he will then enjoy the quiet. People who underestimate the value of others: After being underestimated he finds it bad to underestimate a life of another person, be he a criminal or a civil person. Most criminals do deserve punishment, but you should never undervalue someone. Feel free to insult them, and if they behave like scum, then you can call them scum, but never curse the day someone was born. |

To be happy with himself: He wants to heal, he wants to be okay, he wants to be happy, although he doesn’t really find many reasons for being happy, or for healing, he wants to be happy very deeply. To have a family: He never had a real family that loved him for who he was, his only family had always been his grandma so he wants to have one. He wonders what it would be like, but he also wants to be the best dad he can be. Finding that special someone: He doesn’t exactly hope for it, but at the same time, he hopes to forget about Alice. He also hopes that when he does fall in love that it will be head over heels. | Getting emotionally attached: It has been a while sense he has had friends, so he feels compromised when he is forced to spend time with someone, and at the same time that he finds friends to be good, he feels frightened to a deep extent, and will most of the time run away from such opportunities. Losing his job: He knows that if one day he is ever faced with doing what is right or breaking the rules he could lose his job, only in the movies do people who do the right thing despite not following orders get away with it. Being dumb: Sometimes he feels that he still lacks knowledge of the real world he knows that the world is not charming, but at the same time, he wonders just how much knowledge of the real world does he lack? He does not want to become bitter like some of the other people who consider themselves wise, but he is aware that he sometimes feels as if he is missing the big picture… like if the true nature of the word called ‘normal’ were something foreign to him. Especially with the way people will smile at him or watch him when he says things… he wonders if he is missing out of something. |
Background |
Elia or “Elliot” was born into a middle class family in the Alps. His mother was a seamstress and his father was a farmer they would work hard to make ends meet so they could care for their happy toddler, with bright blue eyes, and chubby cheeks, until they died in a harsh car accident. Elliot was in the care of a babysitter, who after noticing that his parents did not return for 2 weeks, called the authorities only to find out that Elliot’s parents had died. Elliot was afterwards placed into a child care system, until his grandmother fought for his custody, and finally had him to her-self. Elliot grew into a well and good natured adolescent who loved books, and repairing things and his grandmother always tried to buy him a book whenever she could afford it, despite the fact that she was getting older and it grew harder, and harder to take care of him. She began to forget things like where she placed the keys to the house, and in some cases in which direction was the grocery store. Elliot got worried when he returned home from school and did not find her, and then received a call from neighbors that his grandmother was wandering around near the woods. Elliot took care of his grandma as much as he could, but Alzheimer’s was slowly taking his grandmother away. Despite the fact that he had taken it upon himself to cook for himself and his grandmother and clean the house, and earned himself money repairing microwaves and electronic appliances, he was aware that no one would accept a 13 year old to work for them. He didn’t know where he would get the money to pay the bills for the small apartment, if he managed to take care of his grandmother longer. It was only a matter of time, until while at school, authorities found his grandma wandering around aimlessly through the streets. After identifying her they also discovered that she had a minor living with her, the police figured that she was in no condition to take care of a minor, and she was sent to a hospice, and Elliot was taken into the child care system once more. Elliot found it difficult to adjust, it was a new environment, a new town. He also was attached to his grandmother, so after having one last visit with her it wasn’t long till he found out his grandmother was gone. He had been taken to a foster home. The house was full of people, a lot of noise it was nothing compared to back home, but what he found more difficult was when the bullying started. Elliot knew he was different, he always knew that, but sense he didn’t get bothered in the small town back at home where everyone knew each other, and everyone looked out for each other it never bothered him, and he never was concerned about it. Only in the city did he begin to realize, just how different he was, reading books, and eating your vegetables wasn’t cool. It was not cool to be respectful to teachers, and it was not cool to dress appropriately. If you didn’t dress in baggy clothes, and lacked the use of foul language, there had to be something the matter with you. If you were calm, and had an extensive vocabulary you were weird. His love for repairing things, all sorts of things from electronic things, such as computers to crooked chairs was weird to his peers. His name which also sounded to strange to his peers didn’t help much either. Elia… “Ellie” they would call him… he began to hate his name. Elliot found himself emotionally hurt most of the time but he said nothing, boys weren’t supposed to cry… at least not in public. Deep down he wished for a foster family despite the fact that the idea of living with a couple of strangers would make him uncomfortable, still what could he do? The things that kept him sane and happy most of the time was repairing things, and reading books. Once he got beat up to the point he lost his consciousness, he was taken to see a psychiatrist, and changed from foster home. The psychiatrist was blind to the bullying Elliot received from his peers, and she focused herself on Elliot. She advised Elliot to try and participate in the activities his peers relished. She also told him that he should try being like the rest of the boys, dressing like the rest of them and talking like them. Elliot was furious. If they couldn’t accept him for who he was that was their problem, not his. He ignored the psychiatrist’s advice, sense she really wasn’t helping him, the psychiatrist seem more interested in ‘fixing’ Elliot, then accepting him. Much to Elliot’s luck or bad luck Elliot was placed with a foster family, this was only temporary but still Elliot hoped that maybe he could be adopted. He didn’t want to close his heart to the idea, but the idea of being adopted was soon smoked away, when it seemed like his foster parents only wanted the checks that came in monthly. Elliot waited until they changed him into another home with other foster parents. The new foster parents didn’t seem mean, but they didn’t want to take care of a fourteen year old. They preferred younger children. Elliot had a successive line of two more different foster parents; one of them left Elliot feeling emotionally abused: to them he was just a thing. When Elliot was taken back to the orphanage in the city, he didn’t want to deal with foster parents anymore. He had gotten used to it, most of the time families wanted younger children no one wanted the older ones, by this time Elliot had turned into a quiet and mysterious individual, not out of choice more as a way of protecting himself. Still he managed to find himself a friend. Alice. She was Swiss but he found her beautiful, it comforted him to have someone to talk to sense most of the time, he was rejected and seemed to not fit in elsewhere. Despite his grandmother’s rules, he began to harbor a crush, sense he spent time with her lot and grew very close to her, he hoped to become more than a friend to her when he was older. This friendship and one sided love only lasted only 3 years sense she got adopted by a family from Austria, and he was forced to say good bye to her, his unrequited love firmly planted in his heart. He still took it upon himself to learn as much as he could about electronics, senses this comforted him. So whenever something was broken around the orphanage they didn’t need a technician all they needed was to call Elliot. It came as a surprise to him when a certain family wanted to adopt him. They were wealthy, had a stable income, and a spare bedroom, and fit all the adoption requirements; Elliot didn’t know what to think of them. They could very well adopt a baby, and they were also highly influential, and happened to throw big parties, he observed. Why would they want a sixteen year old? When he was given time to think if he wanted to stay with these people, he only observed his options… he didn’t know if he could survive being a loner in the orphanage some more, although being a loner was better he wasn’t being bullied. Still he found figured that if he decided to say yes to being adopted by this family, he would have his own room, he wouldn’t have to put up with being observed by the psychiatrist. He figured it probably wasn’t a bad idea he was already tired of waking up in the orphanage to the same noise, and to the same routine. He accepted the offer of being adopted, and was soon taken by this family to London. He couldn’t help being eagerly excited, everything was new for him. New room, new town, new family, his curiosity overcame him. Of course this family was big, they had five children except one of them had gone off to university so he was not home much, the other four were younger; two of them were in high-school both were guys, the younger one she was going through junior high, and the last one was only a hyper 4 year old. It didn’t take too long for Elliot to feel like he was intruding in this adoptive family, despite his last name change he didn’t know exactly how to feel, was he really going to open his heart to calling Mr. and Mrs. “C” his mom and dad? He preferred to be respectful to them sense he still didn’t know how to feel about the ordeal, but his adoptive siblings, were very quick to let him know that he was not welcome. They were very hostile, unlike Mr. and Mrs. C they disliked his presence he didn’t have to say “Hi” or anything, if he was standing nearby they would get silent and glare at him till he walked away. Elliot was reminded too much of his peers who bullied him in the first orphanage and decided to keep his distance. ‘Stay away’, ‘be quiet’ was what they seemed to say most of the time, with their mannerisms and cold glances. Still whenever they wanted to have something fixed around the house, they would call him for it. They only wanted him around when it was convenient for them. Elliot got exhausted one day, when one of his adoptive siblings decided to break his video game on purpose, (he wanted to watch Elliot work on something), Elliot decided he was not going to fix this video game. His father could very well buy him a new one, he was spoiled and he lacked nothing. Elliot finished by burning the game in the fireplace. His adoptive sibling exploded and called him a publicity stunt. Apparently Mr. “C” only wanted to look good in the press, and cameras, and would drag Elliot to important events just so people would praise him for ‘adopting’ and orphan. Elliot didn’t know what to feel about Mr. C, but he resolved that he was going to move out as soon as he reached legal age, and that’s what he did. Once he almost finished High-school, he got himself a job Mr. C opposed him-self to the idea, and wanted to pay for Elliot’s college but Elliot wanted no more favors from this family. As soon as he had enough for tuition, he dove into his studies. He wanted to be a Mechanical Engineer, a really good one, hopefully work for a big company he didn’t want to be stuck living with Mr. and Mrs. C, and their snooty children. It took him six months, but he finally saved enough to move out. He was only 18 but he felt free, finally free. Living on his own was strange for him though, but it felt better than being surrounded by people who didn’t love him. He kept working till he got himself a major in Electrical Engineering, and managed to land himself a job as a researcher for MI6. He continues studying, but he studies a lot less about mechanics than he used to. Right now he reads and writes a lot more poetry. He goes around his neighborhood every day, fixing things for neighbors on his spare time. |

It shone. It shone beautifully. The gentle white faded orbs seemed to dance playfully in the breeze. All everything seemed to be drenched and illuminated by honey glowing light. The trees leaves and branches rushed with the swirls of the wind, which had all the rustling been under other circumstances, would have caused annoyance or fright. Elliot felt warm. He reached out to grab that shining star, its glow was white, but it was dull enough to look at without hurting your eyes, yet you could tell it was sparkling. It felt so soft. The light seemed to bend at the touch of his fingers. Bend. It was a pure, and felt delicate in his fingers. He followed Alice very lightly as though he were floating, or skipping. The shining star seemed to grow whiter. He touched the sparkling white with his finger, his other hand holding it as if he were carrying a small creature. Alice seemed to smile, and pointed to a map, and they continued walking down the dirt path. He watched as the star began lose its sparkle but it was still white, and felt flimsy. A small piece of the shiny stuff fell from his hand. Fell. The park was beautiful, yet at the same time seemed like a blur to him. The sun’s rays lightly dappled the trees, and kissed the leaves with its light. Curiosity over came him and he cupped the glowing brittle thing in his hand, and smelled it, it tickled his nose. He drew it away from him, then poked the fragile thing, and much to his dismay his finger almost broke through it. Small pieces of white and several of them fell to the ground, lightly floating like leaves. He looked at Alice as she nonchalantly, surveyed the map, rolled it up into a small triangle squeezing it into the pocket of her blue dress. The white touched the ground without a sound. He frowned when he realized he almost ruined the white rose. He held it from it green stem, with new resolve to keep it from breaking. He knew he would not get another chance like this, he strode beside her, and slipped his hand into hers, giving it a gentle squeeze. He didn’t want her to leave him, Alice smiled and returned the squeeze, he then handed her the rose. He could hear his heart beat in his ears. He opened his eyes. Calm over took him as he remembered where he was, his blood pulsed through the veins in his arms. Happy, and satisfied, he got to hold her hand. He stayed still his breathing relaxed. It had only been a dream. A very happy dream, though out of proportion compared to reality. The grey bluish color of the ceiling was calming, as the light of breaking dawn settled over things. It was as if everything in his room was a grayish blue color. It felt good. Elliot turned to his right, and hugged his pillow contently. He was happy to stay awake, in the silence and greet the sun light. |
