The frame creaked and shifted. Clumsy paws creased the sheets and a warm tongue lapped at the tip of his nose. Sadik swatted at the air and rolled over onto his side. He cracked his eye open, glaring blearily at the much-too-bright alarm clock. Half past one he noted with a hint of irritation. “Oy, what do ye want...” Sadik grumbled, shoving Gyro off of the mattress. “It is'nae even mornin' yet, ye dumb mutt.” God damn it to hell. Did he forget to take some stupid pill again? Whatever it was he hoped it wouldn’t fuck him over. The rottweiler snorted and padded back and forth beside the bed restlessly. A low, throaty growl caught his attention. Gyro paused suddenly. Faint footsteps plodded a pathway outside of his room – or somewhere else, perhaps. He strained his ear. He couldn't tell where the sound was coming from. Gyro snarled, fur bristling on the back of his neck. Alarm, and a trace of anger, coursed through his blood like a fire. He tossed the covers off, swearing, and swung his legs over the side of the bed. Stiffly, he sprang to his feet – fumbling around in the dark - and threw on a robe, ignored the aching in his bones. He charged blindly out of his room - and spotted the source.
“Bastard!” Sadik shouted. The figure froze. Someone was in his house. Scratch that. Some asshole had the fucking gall to break into his house. Sadik lunged for the intruder - but fell short. He gritted his teeth. He would be seeing red if he could see his bloody hand in front of his face right now. Anger broiled in his chest and he clenched his fist, nails digging trenches into his palms. “Gyro. Bring 'em here and don't let 'em go.” he whispered harshly. It didn't matter how they got in, but they sure as hell were not going to get out in one piece.
