Astrit hides behind a tough mask, and he doesn't make friends easily, especially because he has lost so many people over his short life. Still, he would like to get along with some kids of his own age if he's sure he's safe with them.

Despite having the good sense to make as few of these as possible, Astrit's life means it's been impossible to avoid making enemies. Most of these probably think he's an easy target because he's so young and small, but he's tricky enough that he can usually get himself away from people who don't like him.

There's a certain number of adults in any child's life whom that child will consider to be role models, or heroes--someone that child will look up to. Of course Astrit has a few on his list.

The kid's thirteen, obviously, so his idea of a "serious relationship" is "occasionally kissing," though the pressure is already on for him to prove his manhood by doing more than that. (Which in practice means a lot of "let's not and say we did.") Still, he's curious about what a romance might be like. Gender? He doesn't care, though he might pretend he does to protect himself.

A lot of the misery in Astrit's past has been related one way or another to the fact that he was involved in a lot of illegal stuff when he was young just to survive. He's out of that now thanks to some fortuitous intervention, but he still knows some low-level criminals, even if he's trying to avoid them now.

Everyone else Astrit might meet, whose existence he is aware of but to whom he does not have any of the above relationships, falls under this category.
