[cs=3] Personality | ||
[cs=3] Loud: He has his opinions and is absolutely not afraid to speak them out loud. In fact, he’s very outspoken about them resulting in him coming off as rather obnoxious. If he doesn’t like you, you’ll know it. At the same time, if he likes you, he’s a bit more complex about it. The closer he gets to you the more he acts like an asshole as he loves to tease. What he’s saying he also literally tends to be very loud about it. Volume control is not his forte, especially when he’s on the phone. Stubborn: When his mind his made up, Miloš can be as stubborn about a mule about things. It is hard to get him to change his mind as his thought process is very linear. If necessary he can be convinced, but it takes a lot of effort and yelling. This also extends to grudges; if you do piss him off he will remember it and won’t let it go. Once someone is in his bad books it is tough to get out of them. Violent: When he’s riled up enough his first instinct is to punch his way out of a situation. Sure he’s a broker and so he’s pretty good with words, but if you piss him off he won’t hesitate to teach you the meaning of pain. To be clear, though Miloš is violent when he gets angry, he never is violent with anyone who doesn’t deserve it. He would never be one of those scumbags who hurt their own family- the thought makes him want to vomit. If you’re a criminal or you’ve hurt or insulted someone he cares about, well… he’ll really enjoy beating the snot out of you. Oblivious: Miloš can be oblivious to the point of callousness. He’s slow to catch a hint and needs things to be spelled out clearly to him. He’s at his worst in the romance department. Unless he initiated some kind romantic intentions he had a hard time recognizing if someone legitimately likes him and is into him. Hot-headed: It doesn’t take much to piss off Miloš if you know what buttons to press. He’s very defensive about his culture, his community, his family, and his friends. For the most part he laughs off insults, but go too far and he’ll deck that person before they understand what hit them. A good fight is a great way for him to cool off, but if that isn’t possible he’ll storm off and douse himself with a cold beer. Sensitive: Oddly enough, despite his tough guy exterior he does have a bit of a sensitive heart. He cares deeply for his friends, family, and his community in general. Around him he sees a lot of hard-working people and sure there are a few bums, but they’re the minority. If he hears anyone insulting him he doesn’t give a shit, but the moment you insult someone he likes he will not stand for it. Depending on how bad the insult is and who the insulter is he can get violent. Street-Smart: Though Miloš never got spectacular grades in school, he learned a lot more on the street. He knows how best to get to certain places, what shop sells the best fish and chips, and of course where the greatest grocery store ever is. Sociable: Surprisingly for some, he is very good at talking to people. He knows how to ask personal questions to get them to trust him and the best ways to extract information from people (even if it requires a little bribery or force). It was using these skills that he built up his network of sources, most of which are just regular people who work in jobs that allow them to see and hear many things. Loyal: If Miloš considers you someone worth protecting then you can damn well be sure he’ll be loyal through the thick and thin. There are different levels to his trust, the most basic being for his informants while the highest going to his family and closest friends. He only has a few really close friends and even then he rarely tells any one of them everything. Courageous: If the going gets tough, Miloš gets going right into the thick of danger. He’ll throw himself literally headfirst into a fight if that’s what it takes. Unlike some brokers who are simply at the top of a pyramid, Miloš prides himself on gathering information himself if he needs to. There have been a few times he even went undercover and got himself into a gang to get the info he needed to turn them over to the agents. | ||

Rakija: The Serbian liquor of choice. Sure it’s harder to find in London, but since Miloš owns his own grocery store he can order some for himself. Fights: Growing up in a rough environment, he learned how to fend for himself pretty well. He soon found he loved the adrenaline of beating up thugs in fights. Trumpet: Yes, Miloš played an instrument in school. He learned how to play the trumpet and liked it so much that when he got older and actually had enough money went out and bought himself one. He plays mostly for fun, but sometimes will play at parties or gatherings. Adrenaline: Miloš is a thrill-seeker. He started out climbing trees to climbing buildings to getting into fights and it has been escalating since there. He loves his current job; the threat of getting caught excites him like nothing else. Flirting: Normally, Miloš is polite in his own way when speaking with women. If he likes a girl he’ll definitely flirt with her, but it’s mostly cheesy and stupid pick-up lines. But when he’s in a bar and he’s drunk he turns into that guy. He’ll shamelessly and crudely flirt with any woman he gets the hots for, though most of the time he is quickly rejected. Adventure!: He has explored a good part of the city and has ended up in all kinds of crazy situations. He’s nearly been shot more than once, and almost arrested a few more times than that. Talking: As many like to say, Miloš loves the sound of his own voice. Though, while he does like to talk a lot, he also can be a good listener. Food: His favorite food is of course his mom’s cooking (he’s not a mama’s boy he swears), but surprisingly he’s not a bad cook. He doesn’t like to cook all that much except for himself, but when he cooks for others you can bet the food will be good. Dancing: When he was a kid and still in his rebellious faze, his parents made him go to a number of dancing lessons provided for free by a cultural-preservation NGO. He hated it at first, but the teacher was tough and wouldn’t let him skip out, and eventually he found himself weirdly enjoying the lessons. Once those classes were over he actually took whatever other free classes were available and got decently good at a few traditional Serbian dances as well as some classical ones. However, it’s been a number of years since he practiced so Miloš is pretty rusty. | Thugs/Criminals: Miloš can recognize the irony here, as sometimes he’s no better than a common thug, but he always insists it is different because he has principles. So if he enjoys beating the shit out of a guy for trying to rob someone, he figures they had it coming anyways. Rainy days: It’s not that he hates getting wet, it’s just that he hates being cooped up inside for long periods of time. If he isn’t doing something Miloš tends to get restless. He always likes to be on the move- he’s got places to see, people to meet, information to broker. Failure: No one likes failure, but Miloš takes it particularly hard. When his last girlfriend broke up with him he was down in the dumps for a week. Albanians: They think they’re the hotshots of the Slavic community, pffft. Posh: He hates those uppity Londoners who look down on people like him. | Being helpless: As is common in his line of work, Miloš likes to be in control. He hates it when he loses control of a situation. Getting Caught: Obviously, if the Underworld knew who he was and who worked for, his life would become very difficult very quickly. Miloš does not make a lot of money, even with both of his businesses. He has no escape route except to maybe flee to Serbia if things got really bad so if he is caught he knows he’s basically fucked. Going bankrupt: Though he may wear a devil-may-care façade to some, he still has many very real concerns. His business going under is his biggest worry as it is a small store catering to a not very well-off community. |

[cs=3] History |
[cs=3] Miloš was born 27 years ago on a frosty winter’s night to a pair of Serbian-immigrant parents in London. His parents were poor and lived in government housing with a number of other Serbs, but when he was about 10 they finally saved up enough to open up their own grocery store to provide fresh produce for their community. The business did well and soon they were making enough to move into their own apartment. The only problem was their son Miloš. He started out as a rambunctious toddler before growing to a temperamental child who was picked on a lot by the kids in the area. Soon though he learned how to fight back, and after an incident which involved a frenzy of phone calls made by harried and/or upset parents Miloš was left alone. When they moved into their own apartment above the store Miloš found himself playing with a different group of boys. These ones were cooler and tougher; they were also older than him. He was running with the big dogs and loved every minute of it. His parents worked hard and so were not home very often, but when they were he often got into fights with them about him staying out too late and the boys he hung out with. His mom in particular was furious when he came home late; he feared her wrath the most because when she was really mad she wouldn’t yell, she’d just calmly guilt trip him until he broke down crying and apologizing. Yet as ever, life moved forward. When Miloš was 15 his family’s store was broken into and trashed. Furious, he made it a point to try and figure out who had done this. He had never done all that well in school, but when it came to the streets he was as smart as they come. Collecting what little evidence there was left behind and interrogating the sole witness, Miloš found out the culprits had been his own best friends. This drove him into a fury at their betrayal. He found his former friends and confronted them about what they’d done. They revealed that they’d never liked him- they’d just kept him around so he would do stuff for them. When Miloš asked them about why they’d trashed his parents’ store, they just laughed and said they had been high and had been hungry. That was the last straw for the Serb. He attacked them and beat all three of them up, though he got a black eye and a bruised rib or two out of it for his trouble. When he was done, Miloš felt better, but knew it wouldn’t fix what had already happened. From that day on, Miloš swore to take care of his parents’ shop no matter what. When he got out of secondary school he started helping around the store, especially as his father had a bad knee. When he was 20 his father had a heart attack which left him seriously ill so he formally took control of the store. Luckily the English government was footing the bill, but in the meantime they still had medication to pay for and other expenses and thus his family was in a bit of a pickle. This was when Miloš got into the business of brokering information. It happened slowly- he did some favors for some guys he knew and in return they owed him a favor. And then he did some more favors and found that this informal way of doing business suited him just fine. He gradually built up his pool of contacts and soon switched from doing favors to doing information. Growing up in the neighborhood he did he was surrounded by many Eastern European immigrants who proved to be the backbone of his contacts. He carefully picked his allies and made sure to play nice with all of When he was in his early 20s he was contacted by an agent of the MI6 , Marko Iliev. He’d gotten to know Marko a few years back as they had common friends, though he hadn’t had any idea of who he really worked for. So when he got a call out of the blue he was a little surprised, but excited at the prospect of doing something exciting. He was asked to get info on a criminal of Serbian background who actually lived not too far from where he did. It wasn’t a hard assignment by any means; he made a few calls and got enough information about this guy to know about the mole on his ass. Miloš contacted Marko again and got him his information, for a price of course. With this success he was contacted by MI6 itself to be an informant for the agents. They’d say what they want to know, he’d find it out, and they’d pay him for it. Of course, Miloš agreed. He had the golden opportunity to help put some guys behind bars who were a plague to his community and it was doing things he found very enjoyable. So Miloš started dealing in information for MI6- not exclusively of course, but he’d never deal with criminals. This new deal also greatly expanded his list of contacts so he could be a lot more effective in gathering and organizing information as well. Today, Miloš lives in his own apartment, not too far from his parents as he still lives in walking distance from the grocery store. His dad is mostly better, though his bad knee has only gotten worse and has left him not very mobile. His mom mostly takes care of his dad and cooks a lot of food for the family and the other Serbian families in the area who need it. Miloš still owns the grocery store, though since his foray into brokering he has hired a worker or two to help keep the store running as he juggles his two work lives. When he’s not on the phone or in a meeting or working at his store, Miloš likes to go to bars in his spare time. What little free time he has besides this he generally spends relaxing and hanging out with his buddies, drinking beer and watching sports. |
