Words: 578 Tags: @sheik Notes: So it begins Feliciano couldn’t help but marvel at how blind so much of the world could be. How often had he marveled at the fearful worries of those who see threats in everything, and yet overlook the most dangerous menace that lurks in their daily view. On more than one occasion, Feliciano listened to his target fret over terrorists, of far off countries with nuclear weapons, of exotic disease; he found it almost funny, in a morbid sort of way. So worried about the unknown, that they don’t see the metaphorical knife until it’s imbedded firmly in their back. To be fair, Feli reasoned, he didn’t exactly cut the most intimidating figure. He made sure of that, always careful to dress, to smile, to act in the least suspicious way possible, to blend in, to charm, but most of all, never alert anyone to his true motives. This was why no one paid attention to the petite brunette striding through gripping some files to his chest. It was lunchtime and everyone who was anyone was far more focused on getting out to enjoy their hour as soon as possible, no one spared him a second glance. Why should they? He was a nobody, just another harried intern, perhaps a clerk, nothing to raise even a blip on their radar. Perfect. Lili’s office wasn’t hard to find, now that Feli was a bit more accustomed to the place. His first visit to the embassy was disastrously muddled—he had to ask three different people where he was going. But now, he had every room, every hallway, every possible means of escape, mapped out in his mind. He wasn’t worried that about catching Lili. Unless there was an event, she usually ate in her office and even if that was the case, he didn’t mind settling in to wait for her. It wasn’t like he had anything else to do today. He knocked politely before entering the room with a big grin, just in case she wasn’t alone. “Ciao, bella, you look as beautiful as ever!” He pulled out a flower, a single daffodil from the coat of his suit to present her. No matter what their relationship was, no matter what she thought about him or who he worked for, Feli always made a point of bringing her a flower. Beauties like her deserved beautiful things. “I hope you like it, I found a flower stand on the way over and the lady just let me have it, can you believe it? She was just going to throw it out, but I asked her if I could take it instead. Che fortuna, no?” He sat the files down on her desk and handed her the flower before smoothing out his suit. “Next time I’ll try to get something that better matches your pretty face, but at the moment…I’m broke.” He laughed, rubbing the back of his head, before looking out of the door. Good, just as he thought, everyone else was gone for lunch. Now was the perfect time. Feliciano leaned back against the wall, his palm pressing against the door, easing it shut. After he heard the soft click that provided them with relative privacy, he focused his attention on her. “If you have a moment, I’d like to talk to you about something. Something important,” his expression sobered, and without the winning smile, the warm gaze, it was easier to imagine the man for what he was. A killer. made by MISSO for KAT

| | I am a flower of the open field and a lily of the steep valleys
The day wasn’t all that special but still, by the time lunchtime came around, Lili was pretty hungry. It was a beautiful day outside but there was a cool wind so, the woman decided to remain in her office while the Swiss ambassador had opted to venture to a nearby restaurant. With her door closed, the Liechtensteiner from Switzerland put on some classical music and unpacked her lunch and it was a glorious site. Today on the menu was a lovely array of fresh sushi, both fruit and fish, which Lili had made that morning. To wash it all down the woman had made herself a hazelnut latte and a tall glass of iced water.
Just as the lady was about to sit and pop in her first roll, her desk phone rang and putting the call it onto speaker, the embassy’s main entrance security guard came through asking if she was expecting a 'Mr. Feliciano Vargas'. Upon hearing the name, Lili’s heart immediately fluttered and her breath caught. Clearing her thought, the woman gave the guard clearance for her visitor before turning off the speakerphone. Sitting back in her chair, Lili took a deep breath to settle her nerves, as they normally became electric when the incoming Italian appeared. She knew the man, in a way, but whenever he came by her workplace, her government workplace, and talked to her.
Lili had a sort of secret life that involved her work, but through a more illicit lens, and Feliciano was certainly a part of that secret life. The fact that the Italian continued to visit her at work always made Lili a pile of nerves because, well not only could she get fired for what she discussed with the man, but also become incarcerated. Taking out her mirror, Lili fixed her hair and took a sip of her water just as a knock came upon her door.
“Come on in,” she said with a smile.
When the door opened, the handsome features of a smiling man filled the doorway and he greeted warmly, “Ciao, bella, you look as beautiful as ever!”
Smiling sweetly, Lili’s cheeks grew warm when Feli produced his signature floral gift and she giggled at his flower shop tale. “Grazie, signore. As surprising as this visit is, I’m pleased to see you as well,” she replied, taking the flower and taking in a gentle inhale, welcoming the soothing and familiar aroma of a flower; it helped calm her a bit.
As the gentleman closed the door, Lili set the flower into a vase already filled with other flowers, making the daffodil the centrepiece. "If you have a moment, I’d like to talk to you about something. Something important.” His words only caused her to slightly pause but Lili only gave the man a blushed smile, never turning her back to him, and said in reply, “Well of course! I always enjoy our conversations.” She motioned for the man to sit in the empty chair before her desk and offered if he’d like anything to drink. “Also, would you mind if I ate while we speak? It is my lunch, after all,” she said, going over to prepare whatever drink the man wanted; at least he couldn’t hear her heart hammering.
I can only imagine that Lili might know his real name. If she doesn't I can change that no problem! ❧ w/ Feliciano Vargas ❧ 544 words |
