Leyla had finished taking out the various teas she had in her cupboard. Leyla had no idea what tea, Mrs. Nguyen would want. Leyla also did not know much about Mrs. Nguyen. All Leyla could remember was how KimLy was very professional the last time she visited. She felt her chest tighten with stress. Why can't I remember anything else... she sighed and touched her forehead. Then decided not to worry about her forgetfulness, and finished placing the dishes in the cupboard.
The inn was empty for today.
Leyla hoped guests would come. If not I am going to have to go looking for them, she thought. Leyla spun on her foot, turning then tripped over a wooden chest, crash landing on her side. "Ouch." Leyla turned up and looked through her tangled hair at the scene before her.
The house was a mess. Why was it that most children were so dirty? She sighed, and got up.
The last time Leyla was attending a family of 5, the kids were incredibly hyperactive, and left their things strewn all over the house. In fact the scene resembled, just what the house looked like back then. Except this time it was only one kid. Who know one kid could do so much mess..
There were three pairs of shoes, of course the were in different directions, one was on the couch the other was near the dining table, and the third was right in the place where the mouse for the computer should be, and the fourth was on the window sill, the fifth was right next to the wooden chest Leyla had just tripped over.. but where was the sixth..? Leyla's eyes scanned the room.
She quickly picked up the random toys, and articles of tiny clothing, but the shoe?
Leyla still needed to sweep and to find the mouse of the keyboard. There was a strange noise. Leyla looked up. What on earth? What was the shoe doing dangling from the lamp? Leyla's eyes widened she could feel her arms tense up. There was so much to do, and a tennis shoe was dangling by only a shoe lace, and she still had to clean the laundry.
Leyla picked up the shoes, then quickly dropped the disorganized items into the wooden box. Her fingers trembled as she tended the beds, only to hear a knock at the door. Ugh... not now.. She grabbed the pile of dirty clothes and she dumped them in the washer, then briskly walked to the door, her eyes giving the room a quick survey. At least the room looked decent. I will sweep and find the mouse for the computer later, she thought. Gotta be quick or I am gonna be late
She opened the door. "Hi!" she smiled, at the Vietnamese woman who stood before her. "Please come in," she gestured. Leyla, stepped out of the way, and crossed her fingers behind her back. I hope she won't notice anything..
