Daniel Farkas "When you're dead, they really fix you up. I hope to hell when I do die somebody has sense enough to just dump me in the river or something. Anything except sticking me in a goddam cemetery. People coming and putting a bunch of flowers on your stomach on Sunday, and all that crap. Who wants flowers when you're dead? Nobody." ― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye |

Kind: He always looks out for others and tries to help them the best he can. He never passes the opportunity to volunteer or donate to someone in need. Though, he does know when his help isn't wanted and will refrain from offering his assistance if it is...after a bit of insisting. Intelligent: He's very smart, loves to solve puzzles and riddles. He keeps his mind occupied when he has nothing else to do, excluding pacing about and tapping pencils. His favorite thing to mess with is a Rubik's Cube, both a puzzle and energy output into one. Of course, he can't have one around all the time. He doesn't want to get blood on it...and it could contaminate the body in some way... Easy-going: He's pretty laid back, not really gets upset over things easily. He's easy to forgive and tries to find the bright side of things. Well, usually. There are times where he's a pessimistic jerk who just wants to be alone with his corpses. Everyone has a bad day every now and then. Outgoing: He's very out there, whether it's trying new things or meeting new people. He enjoys to experience different things, whether it's strange food or something adventurous like skydiving. No harm in trying something once, right? Violent: If he does get mad, he tends to express his anger through physical means. He doesn't throw a punch, but rather he'll whack you with his skillet. He carries it wherever he goes, so there's little chance you'll avoid its wrath. Just be aware if you get on his badside, you'll end up with a headache. Odd: People find him a little strange, since he is...a bit feminine. He simply states that there's nothing wrong with taking care of his appearance, though that can only "explain" how he keeps his looks. Well, excluding the occasional blood smears here and there. He doesn't mind blood all that much as compared to something like mud. Calm: He keeps a level-head, finding no reason to act on pure emotion. He keeps things logical, though there are times where he can't help losing his head...or acting on impulse. It happens now and again, but not as often as when he was a child. It would just be best if you avoid startling him when he's working with a body, since you might end up with blood on your clothes. Reliable: Daniel always keeps his promises. If he says he'll do something, no doubt he'll get it done as soon as he can. No matter what obstacles might be in his way, he'll overcome them for the sake of keeping to his word. He doesn't want to let anyone down. Honest: He can't bring himself to lie to someone's face. If he tries, he gets a bit more fidgety than normal and avoids eye contact. Of course avoiding the topic is easier for him, though one can only avoid for so long. He can try to lie but he'll end up blurting out the truth then practically disappearing from sight before the other can question him further. Energetic: Whoever says they've seen him doing nothing is either lying or, well, lying. Daniel is always moving around, pacing or tapping his foot. Even if he's sleeping he can't seem to keep still. If he gets excited about something, no doubt he would start jumping because of it. |

Adventures: Nothing can beat the thrill of exploring or the fun of near-death. Of course, he doesn't get most of that with the job he has. Murder Mysteries: It's interesting to read up, yet also a bit sad at once. Perhaps he reads them to compare them to the ones going on in current times, and what the body might have in common with the corpse he's working on. Who knows, might help a bit... Cute Things: Who doesn't love fluffy animals or small toys? They're too adorable to ignore! If Daniel sees something cute, he would be...er, "fanboying" over it in no time. Though, he tried to keep it on the calm side. Cooking: Why else would he carry around a frying pan? Well, other than to beat people with it... From omelettes to pasta, there's a chance he can make it. if not, he's always eager to learn. Around lunch time he usually makes enough so there's leftovers for whoever wants it then or later on in the day. Photography: No doubt he has a camera close by. He usually uses it to take whatever pictures he needs of the body he has, whether it's strange marks on the adomen or gunshots on the arm. There are times when he's taking pictures of scenery in his freetime out of the lab, if there ever is any. | Staying Still: It's uncomfortable for him to keep in one place for too long. Just as long as he keeps moving in some way, he's fine. Be it pacing around the room or clicking a pen, it doesn't matter. Crowds: Too overwhelming. Besides, what if he needed to speak to all of them at once? That wouldn't be at all good for him if he had to...or for anyone for that matter. If it was a small group of around 3 people, he would be fine with that. 5 or more is too much and Daniel will turn around and walk away if they head towards him. Bugs: They're just so...icky. No way he would like creepy crawlies like that. Unless he were to dissect them. Or if they were his beetles. He loves those little carnivorous things. They're his precious "pets". They help him out a lot. Fleece and Felt: Yes, he does like stuffed animals, but he hates how these fabrics feel. He gets the same feeling people some get when they hear nails scrape against a chalkboard. He can tolerate it to some extent though. Alarms: They're so loud and noisy, just bothers him and gives him a headache. Plus whenever they barely go off, he jumps slightly and might let out a small scream due to the fact it caught him off guard. |

Visit His Home Country: He hasn't had time, or the spare cash, to go see the place he once called home. He figured it's changed quite a bit since he moved to London, but it's only to be expected. He might save up for a trip, but he isn't sure he can afford to take a few days off? He can't exactly predict when a body turns up out of the blue. Have a Family: A rather plain dream, but families come in all types. From big to small, from one parent to two. He would like to have kids around, but being the busy man he has been lately would be troublesome. At any moment he could get called out, so it's questionable how much time he would be able to spend with his kids. Some day, maybe it could happen. Now? Not so much. Get Over His Mother's Death: Yes, it has been a while since she passed, but it's still a bit of a sore subject for him. It's not as bad as it used to be, but if the subject's suddenly brought up out of the blue, the sadness in his eyes will be easy to detect. He tries to not let his mood be ruined by the topic, even attempting to smile when on the verge of tears. He just wants to finally move on, even if a small part of him wants to cling on to the only real family he ever had. | Public Speaking: The fact people stare at him and expect him so say something worth listening to makes him nervous. Try to get him to face his fear, he'll just end up puking, fainting, or having a nervous breakdown. Spiders: Kind of irrational, but they just terrify him. They might be tiny, but they're still creepy. If he sees one, he'll scream then run out the room...or cling to someone as beg them to kill it. Either one works for him. Cats: They're just kind of creepy. The way they stare at someone as if judging them...looking down at you as if you were a lesser being... He's more of a dog person anyway. |
Background |
Born and raised in Hungary, Daniel had an average life. He never really knew his father, since he grew up with his mother halfway across the country. He had no male influence, and his mother wanted a girl, so he grew up as the daughter she had hoped for. Of course, when he reached puberty the both of them had to accept the fact he was indeed a male. It took a while for him to change his ways, but he couldn't simply erase some of the habits he had. He moved to London when he was around 16 because his mother decided it would be best to try to start a new life, since back home they always moved about and never stayed in one place for long. He always figured she wanted to leave her past behind her... London was a bit hard to get used to, since it was a big city and Daniel has been mostly in the rural parts of Hungary. He quickly adjusted to the crowded streets and the seemingly endless rain. Besides, being here was just a new adventure. Not to mention that exploring different buildings would be interesting. There were times he ended up where he shouldn't be, but that's the risk of exploring. He has always been interested in the dead. Ever since he was little, his favorite place to go was a cemetery, a morgue, or a funeral home. He was studying to be an undertaker before he changed his mind and went towards being a medical examiner. He enjoyed it right from the start, always looking towards the next day. He was happy, but his mother wasn't. He knew very well that his mother disliked the career choice he made. She did try to talk him out of it a few times. She'd even go as so far to have giant, violent arguments about it. Wasn't much a surprise to him that she ended up on a metal table. Of course, he couldn't just accept the fact that she would be gone from his life. All he could do was tell how and when she died, not by who or why. He just deals with remains, nothing more and nothing less. |

Ah, how Daniel hated being called out on the field. He would rather stay in his lab than be dragged to a location where they found a body. He doesn't mind, since a case was a case, no matter where it was. Either way, he would do his examination and write down the details, then let the police do their job while he runs a few extra tests at his lab. It was a bit of routine by now, since most of the bodies he gets are murder victims nowadays. He lifted his camera and took a picture of the site before him. Death was always a sad thing, no matter what way one looks at it. The Hungarian sighed before snapping some more photos. He could just hope that he was able to close this one and not leave it hanging. "Gender, female. Age, between fifteen and seventeen. Though, it is possible she was in her very early twenties. No older than twenty four, that's for sure. Cause of death, to be looked into more. Possible suicide, judging how her neck is visibly broken, as well as various other bones. Then again, it could have been a cover up and her body was dragged over to the scene, or dropped from here to make it seem more natural." He kept taking pictures, moving to various places to get different angles. To passersby, it must have seemed terrible. Horrific, even. He was sure that some of the officers on the scene felt the same way. As for him, well, he was used to the sort of sight...and the smell. The smell of decomposing flesh takes a long while to get used to, especially and is sure to make one's stomach churn. "No body parts or organs seem to be missing, but she doesn't have a cell phone or a wallet on her so her identity is currently unknown as of late. She appears to have been dead for less than three days. She isn't bloating. Since she does smell of rotting meat, she has been dead for over a day," he reported, letting go of his camera long enough to write down the information on a clipboard. Ah that clipboard, it has been through almost everything. He's surprised it's held up for as long as it had. He was sure he would have broken it by now... "Scratch that part about it being a suicide. There are marks on her wrists, suggesting that they were bound by something, most likely rope. Most likely was kidnapped, no doubt. Look at recent reports for missing persons..." he added, trying to get a closer look at the girl. She was lying face down, so he had to flip her over carefully. She was stiff, as expected. "...Well, she was pregnant. Possible murder drive," he sighed. Ah, poor thing. She was quite far along too. Such a shame she had to perish before the birth of her child... And from what he could tell, it was going to be a boy too. What a shame... He got back up to his feet and wrote down on that clipboard. There was an odd silence to the day, he couldn't even hear a bird singing from anywhere nearby. It was a bit strange, since the city seemed so noisy. He checked his watch. It wasn't that early in the morning...only around seven. He was sure that the city was more rowdy during the day, but it appears he was wrong. The day was rather cloudy, suggesting that there was a possibility of rain. It would be best to take precautions, in case it does end up pouring. He wouldn't be surprised if it did, since London was known to be all gloom and doom. "...Get the tents up. And fast at that. I don't want to risk the scene getting messed up because of the weather," he said, continuing to write. This was going to be a long case, that he knew. |
