~Nicoleta Kat accepts every lawless in her house, even if they didn't work for her employer. But if those two actually work for the same boss probably she'll end up as Kat's friend. Another ladies' company in lawless world, no?
~Donald Ah, the charmer. I imagined in his lawless days Donald might have meet her once or twice. Kat most likely will remember his face, but now that he's an agent she has to be very careful to not unintentionally reminds him of who she really is. That if she knows what Donald does for life nowadays. I think Kat usually pretends she doesn't know the lawless if they met in public, for the secret's safety.
And also, do you have any idea about where Kat's house should be located?

QUICK LOOKHas two younger siblings. Her Nest is a house located in Aylesbury Estate. She usually lives alone with a little girl who's not her daughter, except when there are criminals resting. Her boss visits her occasionally. DO NOT try to sleep with her. If you're a criminal in her care, please respect her. She won't give her name - you can call her Nightingale - and she won't ask you anything unrelated to your injury. Aside from treating the injured criminals, Katyusha works as a nurse at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. | Katyusha Petrovna Chernenko
A seemingly normal kind woman who works as a nurse. Loves cooking and gardening. But every woman has a secret and hers is her other job: housing injured criminals in her own house. If you're a lawless and happen to enter her house, don't ever think to sleep with her. The Thotsakan himself would erase you from London's underworld if you dare to touch her. |
Motherly: The very first nature people see in the first glance. Her kindness, permanent smile and fondness of cooking make her a mother-material. Katyusha is always eager listening to your problem--even if you just met her ten seconds ago--and she might allow you cry on her shoulder. But like mothers, she is tough as she is gentle. Her Nest has rules and she'll be grateful if you didn't break them like mannerless thugs.
Sensitive at heart: Something she deemed as her weakness. Katyusha can't stand cruelty. It made her cry easily and also fueling her desire to ease said pain. She get picked a lot because of this, but nowadays she's able to held back her tears; only to be poured later somewhere private. Mentioning her younger siblings when Katyusha isn't in good mood will make her retreat to a corner, refusing close contact and she'll return to what she's been doing before with red-rimmed eyes.
Determined: Be it mental or physical work, she won't stop until it's done. If Katyusha planted a seed, she'll take care of it until it grows, blooms and bears fruits. If Katyusha said she'll patch your wound, she won't let you go home until you're restored to full health.
Altruistic: Caring for others' well-being is good, but it also serves as a double-edged sword. Katyusha cares very little about her own well-being. Since her childhood, she used to look after her siblings and plants and stray dogs and cats and other kids in her neighborhood--it consumed so much attention and time she rarely got a chance to look after her reflection on the mirror. Sometimes, when she got too much work to handle, she'll force herself to keep working until the work's finished or her body collapsed.
Good memory: Katyusha remembers every contents in her fridge, first-aid kit, wardrobe, sewing kit, skin-sewing kit and her many jars of snacks. She often finds some of them (mostly snack jar and first-aid kit) have less contents when she got home from work, a sign from an injured stray bird coming, patch their wound and gone after munching a cookie. With her vast array of friends, she's able to remember every name and face and every information about them she ever heard about. Sometimes the birds may unintentionally divulge an important detail for her, but her being a nurse, that information she listed in "patient's private details" that nobody should lay their hand upon it.
Tough: This woman may doesn't look like one--being a sensitive, always smiling and all that--but she's as tough as earth's crust. Katyusha didn't born with this trait; she developed it during her years in high school and university. Young Katyusha was rarely seen without dried tears smearing her pale cheeks, either from people picking at her or bad grades or a button she just sewn back to its place escaped again into Wonderland. At some point, she screamed enough with this and tried her best to held her cry in other people's presence.
Talkative: She's a bit uncomfortable with dead silent so whenever other people present she would talk to them about almost everything; from weather to the newest recipe she just tried at home. Katyusha especially loves talking to kids--honest innocent little creature Ivan once had been before finally drowned in their father's military ideals. She's very careful to not accidentally said or hinted anything about the stray birds.
Discipline: First thing she does in the morning is mentally checking today's schedule. It's not a strict one, she always put extra minutes in between the activities. Katyusha learnt this from her father, something she totally failed at in her youth but now used to do it. She also totally fine if something came up and destroy the rest of today's schedule, as long as it's important--she'd just finish the schedule with extra speed. Last thing she does before going to bed is making tomorrow's schedule.
Meticulous: Tiny little details are important! She sometimes undone a half-finished knitting just to fix a loophole somewhere, if she wants to. Katyusha's keen eyes also easily recognize if one has a troubled mind. She'll move to sit beside that person, offering a silent consolation or free hugs. This trait was the one that helped her finished university with good grades.
Restless: Katyusha has to keep moving and busying herself, because if she stand idle her mind will starts worrying about her siblings whereabouts and well-being. If it's not about them, she'll thinking about the stray birds; wondering if they're still breathing or not. Katyusha will always occupy herself, either by checking patients, knitting or chatting with complete stranger.div] |
Ivan & Natalya: Ever since Katyusha left their house, she missed them terribly. Time spent between them in her childhood was swift and rather emotionally distant. Katyusha hopes there will come a day to mend their relationship... even though she doesn't know their current whereabouts.
Cooking: Cakes and warm food... mmm! Katyusha used her cooking to show her affection towards her siblings when they didn't have free time together. She sometimes bakes cookies for her colleagues... and her stray birds.
Needlework: She's excelled in this particular skill. Katyusha's favorite is knitting and sewing. Right now, she knits more skins than scarfs.
Singing: From which her nickname came from. She likes to sing or hum melodies while tending to her patients. Katyusha's voice isn't as good as Barbican singer but still pleasant to listen at.
Gardening: She loves tending all the things that is green and grows. Plus, nothing more delicious than the fruit you grew and tended yourself from seed. Plants shading her small house also provide nice cover for stray birds currently resting inside from curious neighbors. | Perverts: Self-explanatory
Burnt food: It's not edible at all and a waste of good ingredients too. If you don't want to eat the failure you call a cooking, better stay away from Katyusha's sacred kitchen.
Unnecessary violence: When growing up, she realized sometimes violence would be an inevitable way to solve a problem if negotiation no longer worked. She accepts sparring, training and self-defense but starting a fight because of petty things? NO.
Back and shoulder pain: They disturb her works.
Tight clothes: Seriously, there are people wearing them? Katyusha can't breathe in it. That isn't good for blood circulation and just moving is rather difficult.
BUTTONS: Katyusha secretly believes that buttons were made to hate her. Everytime she finished buttoning a shirt, one of them would throw itself into the nearest rabbit hole that leads straight to somewhere unreachable by her, like Mordor. |
Reuniting with her siblings Marriage Owning a farm | Other people know about her activity: Residents of the underworld trust her and she doesn't want to break said trust. Other civilian knowing about her housing injured criminals may bring danger not just for Katyusha, but also for them. But what's worse is if--
That people works for law enforcement or the government: --because Katyusha sure they'll arrest her.
Can't see her siblings anymore: ...No. Just... no.div] |
Katyusha Petrovna Chernenko was born in Ukraine, oldest of three siblings. Her father, a very strict man with military background, was disappointed upon knowing his firstborn was a girl. Just like other fathers, he wanted his firstborn a boy, who would stand beside him in leading their family. Nevertheless, he did try to mold little Katya into a female warrior, something the girl totally failed at. She was too meek and cried a lot, like wounded prey left alone in the hunting field.
Her mother was a beautiful woman who carried around her a queen-like aura. But by queen, she wasn't a queen who loves to blend with her people--instead, she's more of a queen so cold and distant everyone afraid to look into her eyes, afraid of the chill that would freeze their hearts out. And just like everyone, little Katya afraid of her own mother.
Didn't mothers supposed to be warm and soft and always close at heart to her children?
Katyusha preferred her father over her mother, even though his lessons were hard and harsh and left Katya cried silently every afternoon. She tried her best to meet his standard. But when her brother Ivan born, her father's attention totally focused to the boy, almost completely ignored her. Her mother, either oblivious or chosen to ignore her daughter's fear, never stop trying to make Katyusha more like her. Already frightened, Katya chose to ran whenever her mother was close and taken solace in their kitchen or garden, places her mother rarely visited unless necessary. And when Natalya born, her mother finally gave up on her and focusing on her youngest instead. Dread crept to Katyusha's heart when she saw little Natalya became a perfect miniature of their mother.
Why would anyone wanted to be so cold and emotionless, Katyusha never knew.
The only happiness she found under their roof was whenever Ivan came closer to her. She always ready to listen to whatever he wanted to tell her; be it their father's lessons or a scraped knee. In return, she would bake cookies or knit a scarf for Ivan. But as they grow up, the siblings got emotionally further apart. Katyusha wanted to approach Natalya, but she didn't know how. Her sister was too cold.
Couldn't stand the loneliness at home, Katyusha busied herself with schoolworks, tending their garden and socializing with neighbors. Upon hitting puberty--an early one--her body started to develop rapidly, earned her many lust-and-envy-laced stares from both genders: girls would mock, boys would tease. It was very frightening and deeply hurt her sensitive heart. When it became unbearable, Katyusha sometimes ran from the school and hide in the corner of local park, crying her eyes out until late afternoon. With many people mock and tease her everyday, her friends was few.
At this time, something stirred within her. She has to become stronger and tougher. Armed with discipline her father had drilled to her mind, Katyusha chose to ignore the bullies and dedicated her time for studying. Her grades slowly climbed upwards and her cries slowly no longer heard. One day in school library, she read a biography of Florence Nightingale which greatly inspired her--Katyusha decided to become a nurse. Finally graduated high school with very good grades, Katyusha immediately accepted at local university, majoring in Nursing.
Already a hardworker student, Katyusha took some part-time jobs here and there to pay her tuition. By living economically, she's able to save money by the time she graduated university. Katyusha used it to move to London, where her idol once mesmerized its people with her deeds. But soon, bad news reached her--her father was dead in battlefield.
Katyusha's mind instantly flies to her younger siblings--what are they doing right now, after their father kicked the bucket? During last years, Katyusha rarely seen them, with her busy studying, Ivan at dedovshchina and Natalya... with whatever their mother drilled to her. She really really wanted to meet them but she was still adapting to her new job at local hospital--and then it happened.
She just came back to her flat after a night shift when she saw someone already broke into her room. It was a young boy and apparently he had injured himself when breaking in. So instead calling the cops, Katyusha gently tended his wounds. She even let him slept in her couch and ate from her fridge. When morning came, that boy was nowhere in sight. He didn't take anything from her room. This was followed by a couple of breaking-ins which all the thief injured themselves in process. And just like with the young boy, Katyusha tended all their wounds calmly, never asking any question to them. All the thief left in the morning without taking any of her possession (except bandages and cookies), but by the seventh break-in, the thief didn't leave, instead inviting someone to her flat.
The man was someone with high rank within an organization--he refused to tell both his and the organization's name--and he was very impressed with what Katyusha did to the thieves he sent there. He offered her a position in the organization--highly paid--as a medic.
Katyusha turned down the offer. She said she doesn't care who came to her injured; she would treat them all equally, be it civilians or criminals. Katyusha actually afraid he would use violence to force her--or worse, shoot her death--but he just laughed at her naivety. He left after saying that he would come everyday to persuade her for taking the offer. And by every morning he did come and Katyusha kept refusing, until sudden realization hit her.
Who would tend their wounds and ease their pain if it wasn't her? Aren't they human also? Common people can go to normal hospital or clinic... but where would the criminals go without worrying about law enforcers hot on their tails? They need a place to rest and heal not just their body but also for their mind.
Katyusha can make that place.
After almost a month of persuasion, she finally accepted the offer under conditions that she won't take any task except for healing, not listed as the organization's official member and none should know her name. In return, she'll allow people entered her house, treat the injured ones and should anyone accidentally spilled an information she will keep it for herself. After the conditions settled, the man asked her to leave the flat and move to a small house he provided. In these last years, her house became a Nest where stray birds keep coming and going, sometimes without its owner knowing.
And just like Florence Nightingale had been an angel on the battlefield, Katyusha Chernenko has become an angel of London's underworld. |
A woman fumbling her pocket for keys while balancing two carton bags full of groceries. She took a turn, passed three more houses before entered one with a very lush garden; full of potted flowers and few slender trees. The woman was a nurse and she was glad her shift at the hospital ended early; she had a feel a bird would come to the nest. Finally grabbing her keys, she inserted it to the keyhole and the door swung open after a soft click.
Balancing two identities and lives weren’t that hard after she got used to it. While most people knew her as Katyusha Chernenko, an Ukrainian woman who lived alone and working as a nurse at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, some knew her as the Nightingale, the only woman who let people entered her house if they were in need for medical treatment, food and temporary shelter. These people knew she kept a spare backdoor key under a primrose pot. Still, Katyusha wanted someone she can talk about those two lives freely.
After locking the front door, she slipped off her coat and hung it. Then she proceeded to the kitchen and put her groceries in the fridge. A quick inspection in the first-aid kit and cookie jar told her that nobody entered her house while she was working. But maybe one will come later and The Ukrainian had a feel whoever the bird is, he or she will get along well with her. It would be nice if she can find someone she can talk with without choosing her words carefully so her other life won’t be spilled. She better get ready.
Katyusha took a quick shower. Then, with towel wrapping her hair, started to cook a simple dinner for more than one person. The woman hoped whoever the bird is, he or she likes pasta. |
