Words: 868 Notes: Hurray! Feli gets a new friend/mortal enemy! “Oh Feli… you look terrible!”Feli winced, normally he loved Beck’s blunt personality, loved that he never had to guess what was going on beyond those hazel eyes of hers. But tonight the less attention she brought to him the better. “I’m fine, Beck, really—“ he moved to wave her off, only to have her gasp and grab his arm. His bandaged arm.
“This is what you call fine?” She demanded. “Please tell me you didn’t get hit again—“
Feli, relieved, latched onto that excuse eagerly. He laughed and finally managed to slip out of her grip with a laugh. “Well you see… there was this cute girl and she was all alone and trying to carry so many grocery bags. She was in need, Beck! And the car was going slow, it’s just a few bruises and scrapes.”Beck just stared at him, as though weighing his words before finally shaking her head. “Bloody hell, Feliciano! You got hurt skirt-chasing again!? Lud is going to give you so much hell when he finds out!” Still muttering under her breath, she started back to her station, Feli hot on her heels. “You don’t have to tell him!” He said, brow knit worriedly as he tugged on her sleeve. “I think he’d figure it out.” Beck retorted, though her stern look was faltering, just as it always did in the face of Feli’s puppy-dog eyes. She finally sighed. “But I won’t say anything.” Content, Feli beamed and nodded.“Grazie!” He said, turning back to set up his own station. He hated lying to Beck, but he had no choice. She couldn’t possibly know what really lay under that bandage. Or what led up to it. Even if he could tell her, Feli wasn’t sure he even knew what to say. It should have been an easy job. It had been an easy job, Feli corrected himself with a frown. The target had no idea that he’d fallen on the wrong side of the mafia. There was no increased security, no one patrolling the grounds. No one sneaking around the shadows except Feli… or so he had thought. It hadn’t been one of Mecini’s men, that Feli knew for sure. But that only left two options… a rival assassin or… or the authorities. Feli felt sick just thinking about it. He hadn’t gotten a chance to look at the bullet after it tore through his bicep, but the gun sounded more like a SIG Sauer, which certainly seemed to lend credence to the second option. And if that was the case, than Feli had been within a breath away from being caught…. His hand shook as he began prepping his tools for the night. It had always been a possibility of course, every job that Feliciano took was one step closer to prison or the grave. He knew this, had always known this, but to imagine that he’d been that close to the end last night—Feli couldn’t bear to think about it. He couldn’t let that happen yet. There were too many people that he cared about, he couldn’t leave them… not yet.He swallowed, determined to pull himself together. He couldn’t brood about might have beens all night. Tonight he was just Feliciano Vargas. It wouldn’t do to be anything but cheerful and welcoming. Hoisting a bright smile, Feli finished setting up and turned to greet his first round of regulars… except that wasn’t the first person his eyes landed on. Feli’s first thought was… He’s tall! And it was certainly true. The stranger, stepping into his bar was certainly tall, and he walked with confidence, shoulders thrown back and head held high. Feli couldn’t help but wonder if he was taller than Luddi, It was tough to compare, unlike Feli’s German friend, the man didn’t quite have the muscles to fill out that frame, giving him a more lanky appearance than Luddi. He seemed far more relaxed too, no worried crease on that brow. Feli was content to just observe the stranger from afar. But then the stranger smiled. Feli liked that smile immediately, how could he not? It was the kind of smile that transformed his whole face, and his eyes danced like spotlights, even in the dimmed lighting of the bar. Feli couldn’t help but return that bright smile when their eyes finally met. “Welcome to The Bunker!” He called, waving him over cheerfully. “You’re new! I can tell! I never forget a face, and I’ve never seen yours before! I think you’ll really like it here! We make the best drinks in all of London! One taste and you’ll be completely hooked!” He clapped his hands together, rocking back on his heels happily, any thoughts of the previous night banished by this intriguing new person. “It’s nice to meet you, by the way! My name’s Feli! Well, Feliciano, but no one ever calls me that! If you need anything, just let me know, okay?! It’s my job to make sure you have a great time here! You'll like it here! Everyone likes it here, you'll see!” He stopped himself then. After all how was he ever going to get to know this new person unless he let the man speak? "So, what'll it be?"made by MISSO for KAT

Words: 806 Notes: ...he's like a puppy... Feli nodded, relieved that she didn’t start yelling at him. He wasn’t sure he could stay upright for it. It was one of the many reasons he liked going to Luci, she’d always been understanding and never one for lectures. It made for such a nice change compared to the others in Feli’s life. He really had to find a way to thank her when he could breath normally and the world stopped spinning so viciously around him. He winced once he heard her demands to see his wounds afterwards, but even he could see when a battle was lost before it had begun and maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to let someone fuss over him for a bit. “Okay, Luci… I’ll try to be quick,” he said with a smile, using his hand to prop himself on the sink. “Don’t worry, you won’t have to come rescue me. I promise!” It was only when she finally left him to his own devices that he finally relaxed, slumping as he limped over to the shower to turn it on. He was very lucky to have escaped with such minor injuries and he knew it. But his whole body felt like one giant wound and he knew the morning was not going to be kind to him. He could only hope Luci would let him camp out on her couch for the day. He had done his best not to rely on the girl too much, and especially when his wounds were too severe—despite the tough act she put on, he wasn’t sure she’d handle some of his worse battle scars. But still… it was nice to have someone to care for him. Feli sank into the tub, too tired to stand as the hot water poured over his chilled and aching body.
He had so little of that in his life it seemed. People who genuinely cared about them. People liked him, sure, but he was a fleeting pleasure at best. Just ask Saddi, or Gil…. He was an object of fascination, of amusement, a passing fancy. People all too often forgot about him, craved something more than a pretty face. And of course, Feli had no choice but to encourage such actions. No one could stay that close. Not unless he wanted them figure out just what Feli got into behind closed doors. Feliciano shivered despite the near scalding water. No. It wasn’t safe to have long lasting relationships. Even Luci… deep down Feliciano knew he’d have to pull away, to disappear from her life just as quickly as he’d appeared in it. Not that he wanted to. She was so kind (in her own way) and Feli was just so starved for any sign of attachment. To know that someone was waiting for him. That someone would remember him. She was the closest thing Feli had to a home at the moment. But every time he came her, he put her at risk. All it would take would be one set of eyes, working for the wrong family and Luci would—
Feli shook his head, slowly washing the blood from his body. He always got so paranoid after a case. Nothing had happened yet and besides, he’d been doing this long enough to know how to eliminate any loose ends. There was a reason his identity had remained so secretive for so long. A part of him still worried, still cautioned that he should cut off his ties to Luci while he was still able to, but Feli quickly dismissed that. He knew he was being selfish, but deep down, he wasn’t sure he could go back to being so alone. Just the thought made him sick.
With a groan, Feli got to his feet and turned off the shower. Toweling himself off presented more of a challenge than he’d imagined and changing into fresh clothes even more so. Feli overbalanced as he tried to tug on the oversized pajama pants she’d left for him, sending him crashing into the wall with a sharp cry as the impact sent a shock of pain through his ribs. He took a couple of shallow breaths before pulling on the rest of his clothes and stepping outside to find the closest thing to security he had in this world.
“See! I’m still conscious! No ax-wielding required.” He said with a bit more pep to his voice than before. His hair was still streaming water, but some color had returned to his cheeks. “I feel so much better! How about I make us some food and we can curl up and watch tv? That sounds good, no?” He wanted her to stop looking at him with such worried eyes, but more than that. For just tonight, he wanted to pretend that he wasn’t alone.

Feli listened to Gil, a smile gracing his expression as the German spoke. There was only a brief pause after Gil finished speaking, before he finally bursting out into laughter. He continued to laugh, holding onto the side of the bar to support himself as he curled inward. “You are so strange, Gilbert!” He managed breathlessly. Finally he managed to get a hold of himself, his breaths coming in spurts as he straightened, his eyes still dancing in the dim light of the bar. “You really like throwing people for a loop, don’t you?” He teased, pouring a beer for another patron, a regular who never wavered in their order. He slid the glass over to the man who nodded his thanks and melted into the background as though he’d never been there in the first place. Feli looked around at the bar, it was still quiet, Beck certainly seemed all too happy to pick up his slack and judging by the guys currently leaning eagerly on her bar, no one would be heading his way soon. Perfecto! More time to play with his newest patron! He settled back, a bit surprised when Gil mentioned a fiancé. Not that he was disappointed, he certainly wasn’t looking for a relationship (too dangerous), but Gil didn’t really seem to strike him as a “head over heels in love” young man. He certainly didn’t seem like the type to have a fiancé. Feli looked thoughtful, storing away that fact to examine later. To Gil, he finally smiled kindly, clapping his hands together. “Oh, Gilbert’s engaged! Che meraviglia!” He leaned forward. “I should have known… someone like you would find some beautiful bella with no trouble at all! What’s she like?” He thought about Gil’s brief description and couldn’t help but chuckle. “It seems so unlike you, to be marrying someone that sounds so serious… I guess it’s true what others say—‘opposites attract!’”He rested his chin on his hand, surveying the silver-haired enigma before him. The more he thought about it, the stranger things seemed. What did he mean by being “the first to meet her?” Seriously there were other people in his life that Gil should be introducing to his future wife. Why the bartender that he’d only met a few minutes ago? “Ve… you really think that’s a good idea? We just met! Should you have her meet your famiglia, first, no?” He started wiping down his bar for lack of anything better to do. “But… I would like to meet her. I bet she’s interesting. She’d have to be to catch your attention.” He grinned conspiratorially at Gil. “I’d love to help her relax in anyway I can. I love making people happy!” made by MISSO for KAT

Words: 524 Notes: Now the fun really begins She was a seasoned liar, Feli had to give her that. Her acting was top notch. If his life hadn’t so frequently depended on recognizing a well disguised bluff, he would have been taken in, just as he assumed many others were. She was definitely charming, scarier still, she knew that fact all too well, that charm was just another tool in her tool box. Feli smiled brightly when she offered herself to him, he wondered how many were taken in by that offer alone… and what ended up happening to the poor souls when they took her up on it. “Oh, what a kind offer, Bella!” He said warmly. “That would be quite the honor, to spend time with someone as beautiful as you!” Before she could respond, he moved with practiced ease, pinning her to the wall, her wrists collected in one of his hands while the other pressed a small blade to neck. “Beautiful… but not who you are pretending to be.” He tilted his head, searching her gaze as though he might find the answer there. “I would be terrible at my job if I could not recognize those close to Bucciarelli. Not to mention… you said he gave you this card personally and yet you don’t remember what he looked like when I arrived. To be confused for a middle aged Mafia Don… I’m really hurt, Bella." He smiled, no hint of malice in his eyes as he looked at her. “I’ll ask you again, Miss… who are you and why are you here?” Of course, his position was pretty precarious, despite the knife being pointed at her throat. She was not supposed to be here, not any more than he was, Feli was sure of that. But that meant little in the long run. No matter who she was, she was a witness, she’s seen his face, spoke to him…. If he let her live, she could easily give his description to the authorities from there it would only be a matter of time until he was discovered. What would his family think… what would Beck think… what would Luddi— Feli stopped that thought dead in its tracks, he couldn’t even bear to contemplate such a terrible outcome. So then what? Kill her? It was the most obvious choice, the safest one. It should be all too simple for him. He had to do it, to keep his world in order. And yet… His eyes flickered as he continued to gaze at her.“You’re quite the professional, Miss… that’s your biggest tell… you’re too practiced with your confrontations… no halts, no stumbles… you respond to every question with grace. Really, Bella, it’s magnificent! So what are you here for? You’ve done your research, to attempt to impersonate such an obscure connection to Bucciarelli, but not enough to really infiltrate…. So a short job…. A thief then, no?” He almost smiled at that. Maybe he could work this newest development to his advantage. Stolen goods would certainly shift the motives away from a contract killing. If they were careful, maybe both of them could walk out of this alive…. made by MISSO for KAT

Notes: FINALLY!
Jackpot! Beck couldn’t help but beam, clapping her hands together in victory. “Oh my god, really? Lud, you’re a life saver!” She immediately dropped her towel, rocking back on her heels excitedly. “Just wait here, okay? I’ll get the soup!” Before Lud could think too hard on his offer, she jogged away, withdrawing back into the break room. She knew Ludwig well enough not to give him too much time to worry and fret over going to see Feli. She had to keep his concern in the forefront, otherwise the German would somehow talk himself out of going. “Here, the soup should be hot, I kept it in a big thermos so you shouldn’t have to be worried about spilling. You need the address though, right?” She glanced up at him, gauging his reactions as she spoke. Ludwig was a very composed individual and it had taken Beck a long time to figure out his tells. To be honest it was one of the things she’d always admired about the German, his ability to keep his emotions in check. Indeed, for the longest time, the only one in the Bunker who’d been able to read Ludwig with any real accuracy was Feli. But after two years, Beck had learned the intricacies of Lud’s emotions almost as well as her coworker. She jotted out Feli’s address, before pressing both the paper and the thermos to his chest. “Stop looking so worried, Lud,” she said with a grin and a pat to his shoulder. “Feli’s going to be so happy to see you. He sounded miserable over the phone and having a hot meal and your company is going to do him a world of good!” She clapped her hands together. “Really, you’ll be better than any medicine.” She did feel a slight twinge of guilt at that, a brief moment where she couldn’t help but wonder if she was overstepping her bounds. Sending Lud over to Feli’s little flat was pretty intimate. Feli never entertained at his flat, rarely invited friends to the little hole in the wall he called home. She hadn’t asked about him about it, didn’t want to pry too much in that particular area, not when it was clearly something that made her friend so uncomfortable. She couldn’t help but wonder if Feli would be upset with Lud appearing on his doorstep. But still. She hadn’t been exaggerating when she’d said Feli sounded miserable. The poor boy sounded dead on his feet., and possibly feverish. And if she knew him, e had stubbornly refused to call anyone to keep him company. What if he passed out? What if he hit his head on something? She was only looking out for him, right? And since she couldn’t be there for him, who better to look out for her favorite Italian than someone who she knew cared just as much about him (and maybe more.) She glanced up at the blonde, frowning slightly. “Look, I know this is a little… unorthodox,” Beck said, leaning forward. “Normally I wouldn’t ask you to do this but… I worry about him, being alone and sick like that. If anything happened, none of us would even know. I’d feel better if I knew someone responsible like you was there to look after him. Feli’s always looking after others… I just want to make sure there’s someone looking after him?” She fixed Lud with her best no nonsense stare. “Can I count on you?” made by MISSO for KAT

Words: 473 Tags:@marcopolo Notes: I finally did it! True. Feli wasn’t exactly “free” to go traipsing off, he vaguely remembered his boss using some pretty scary words the last time he’d arrived late for his shift. But… but this was his brother! One of the only ones in his family to actually seem happy when he appeared on their doorstep. Lovino rarely addressed him anymore—unless it was to scold him about getting his life together… And Nonno…. Feliciano swallowed painfully at the thought of him. He hadn’t really been able to face him properly for years and Nonno didn’t seem all that concerned about seeing Feli in return. He supposed he should be glad for that. The last thing he needed was someone who knew him so well asking questions. Feli shook his head slightly and focused on the family standing before him. His boss would understand! And if he didn’t… well… Beck had saved his job before. “Are you kidding?! No date is more important than my family!” He punctuated his statement with another hug. Luckily he and Marco seemed to have the same philosophy when it came to physical contact and Feli relished the feeling of hugging someone who didn’t tense uncomfortably. “Not that I had one anyway…” He blushed slightly thinking back to a certain pair of blue eyes, of broad shoulders, before shaking his head again. He really had to stop getting so distracted before Marco thought he was insane. “I just need to give you this order, and then we can go grab some food and catch up!” He beamed, rubbing his hands together for warmth. “I’m starving! I’ve been running errands all day. Is there any good places to eat around here? Like a café or something? It doesn’t have to be fancy… Oh but… are you allowed to go with me? I guess you would need to watch the shop…” He slumped slightly, reality raising its ugly head once again. Feli might be assured in his job enough to skip out for dinner, but what about Marco? What if thus was his only job? He’d feel awful if he was the reason Marco lost it. “Ehh… but if you can’t leave I don’t mind staying here! Maybe… maybe we can order something to be delivered. You must be hungry too! Working so hard!” He beamed at his little brother. It was amazing how strongly his Vargas blood shined through, there was no doubt he was family. And Feli was just so relieved to have any family in his corner. It had been so lonely lately, though Feli would rather die than admit that to anyone. Most of all his little brother. No, Feli was determined to be the brother Marco could be proud of. “Just tell me what you’d like? We’ll do whatever! I’m just so happy to have found you again!” made by MISSO for KAT

As much as it pains me, I have to declare a hiatus until Sept 19th. I have Boards coming up in less than a month, and a licensing practical exam about a month after that. Plus I'm managing 22 patients while my vertical is away on rotation... all in all there's just so much to juggle and I want to get a bit more sorted before I can really devote the time I want. Feli-muse isn't dead, just buried under piles of dental school crap.
I get a week off on August 16 so I'll try to post then, but I can't promise anything.

Words: 418 Notes: More Beck...
Now, this… was all too easy. Beck managed to bite back a grin as she quickly filled Ludwig’s order. For her plan to go through, she had to play this exchange very carefully. Marshaling her expression, she turned to him, face carefully blank. “Feli? Here? He didn’t call you?” She slid the drink to him, her head tilting slightly. “That’s surprising, I would have sworn you’d have been the first on his list.” She paused, giving that sentence time to land, to prickle in the back of his mind. Boys are so delightfully simple, so predictable…. She was sure that with just the right touch, she could finally see the end of this chapter. She couldn’t lie, the two had been fun to watch. For two years she’d watched their relationship grow into genuine friendship, and then… into something more. She saw it in every touch—Feli’s arms wrapped around him, Ludwig’s hand on his shoulder… it seemed their bodies were aware of their feelings long before they themselves did. But the best part of every story is the ending, and after two long, tortuous years, she was ready for some resolution, it was time to put this story to rest so they could get working on the next. And maybe, just maybe, she could finally get a decent double date for her trouble. She sighed and ran her hand through her hair, leaning against the bar and dropping her voice to just over a murmur. “Feli called in sick today, I figured he’d call you so you didn’t make the trip over here for no reason.” Her brows wriggled as she eyed him. She’d teased them both about it—every one of the staff and most of the regulars had known that Feli was the true reason Ludwig kept coming back. “Hm… maybe he didn’t want to worry you…. It’s not that unusual, Lud, the winter months are always hard on him. He gets under the weather every so often…” She poured another drink and slid it to another regular, who nodded and muttered a gruff thanks before melting back into the crowd. “I’m sorry. I’m sure he’ll be back the next time you come around.” She sighed and looked around. “Still… it sucks, without him around there’s no way I’m getting out before sun-up… I don’t know how I’m getting that soup to his place now…” There… the seeds had been planted. Now all she could do was hope that they took root. made by MISSO for KAT

Words: 1060 Notes: Beck's stealing the show. Beck never claimed to be well versed in the world. To her, life was short—why bother wasting precious time on things that aren’t interesting? People were interesting, nature was interesting, music and literature and art (especially Feli’s art) was interesting. She loved listening to her patrons discuss their own passions, she loved seeing the light spark in their tired eyes as they explain the intricacies behind their beloved curiosities. Beck never claimed to be a master at any given thing—she was a decent bartender, a level-headed individual, and a strong manager in her own right. But the thing she really excelled at was people. Even as a child, she had been fascinated by those around her, their actions, their personalities, but more than anything, their relationships. She could always be counted on to listen to the love-sick romantic, to counsel the floundering lover, to comfort the heartbroken. She was the mediator, the problem-solver, and she loved every minute of it. But there was one man that had continued to fascinate her for the past two years. Tall and blonde with piercing blue eyes, Ludwig Bielschmidt cut quite the dashing figure no matter where he was. She imagined he could be quite attractive if he lost the severe crease between his brows and that constant frown. She always figured that he did something really important—like a high-end business man or a doctor, something with a lot responsibility and underlings. It would be relatively easy to ask him of course, but Beck liked the mystery of it all, it seemed to suit him well. So she continued to guess and watch him when she had a free moment. Despite his intimidating stature, she’d learned that he was actually quite kind. They had only spoken in passing a handful of times, but he had always been very polite, never failing to tip her for each beer she brought to his table. Occasionally, he would stay until closing and even helped carry some of the larger items from the cellar when it came time to refill. Had it not been for two things, Beck might have fallen for the man. For one, she was happily engaged. And, far more importantly, Ludwig’s affections were clearly with someone else. For nearly two years, Beck had sat back and watched her best friend become more and more entangled with their strange new patron. The first night Ludwig had wandered into the Bunker, nearly everyone shied away from his stern gaze and clipped accent. Even Beck, who’d worked in some of the seediest bars before finally landing a job at the Bunker, couldn’t help but feel uneasy when he stood at her station and fixed her with those piercing eyes. But Feli? Feli never even seemed to blink when Ludwig returned for a second beer. Feliciano had always been a inviting person, indeed it was one of his biggest draws as a bartender, but there was something different in the way he spoke to Ludwig. There was a special kind of warmth, of understanding that spiced the smiles he seemed to direct only at the blonde. It went far beyond his job, or even his innate desire to put others at ease. As, Ludwig’s visits grew more regular, Feliciano seemed more and more distracted by the man, even neglecting his precious patrons to linger near the man. At first, it made Beck nervous. She really liked working with Feli they’d established an easy-going rapport with one another over the years and she hated the thought of losing her favorite coworker. But much to her surprise, her boss actually seemed encourage their arrangement. Now, nearly every single one of Ludwig’s visits ended with Feli camped out at his table. At first, Beck had figured that Ludwig was humoring him at first, just putting up with his exuberance in the same weary manner of a parent minding a toddler. But as time went on, it became obvious to Beck that Ludwig actually seemed to appreciate the company. Though his smiles were rare, they only seemed to appear when Feli was at his side. She caught the fondness that seemed to soften his gaze as he would first catch sight of Feli upon entering the bar, and she saw the way Feli would light up in response. She figured it was only a matter of time until they ended up together. It seemed to be the only natural progression of things. And yet, much to her frustration, the pair seemed to stagnate. It was confusing. Feli certainly had no trouble making his interests known in the past, and yet he made no move towards Ludwig. And Ludwig seemed all but oblivious to the tension that swirled around them both. Beck tried to nudge the two, but no amount of teasing, of sideways hints, seemed to do shift the situation and she began to despair that they would never recognize their relationship for what it was. No one in a platonic relationship looked at each other the way they did. But as the months, and later years passed, Beck came to terms with the fact that their relationship was never going move forward. That is until Feli called out from work. Despite his easy-going nature, Feliciano loved his job, and though he might be late, he was rarely absent. But winters were traditionally tough for the Italian and he often succumbed to the colds and flus that accompanied the icy months. But still… to have him call in on one of Lud’s scheduled days… he must have truly felt awful. Beck was mentally planning a trip over to his little flat after her shift to make sure that he had something warm to eat, just when Ludwig stepped into the bar. She watched his eyes, sweeping the bar, searching out that smile that had always been there to welcome him. Beck waved him over, smiling faintly as a less than innocent plan began to take shape in her mind. Perhaps this was her chance to finally set the pair straight. “Lud! Glad you were able to make it tonight! What can I get started for you?” She did her best to keep her expression neutral as she wiped down her station in preparation for the night. And if she played her cards right, what a night it would be. made by MISSO for KAT

Words: 605 Notes: OMG I am SO sorry, Feli didn't feel like working. But he's here to tango now. Orz Feliciano carefully marshaled his expression when he heard her voice. So she knows the name, but not the face of his target. Feliciano wanted to immediately dismiss her as a simple socialite—just another one climber on London’s social ladder. But his instincts… they told him a different story. He wasn’t even sure what they were alerting to—there was nothing about this girl that seemed threatening. She was perfectly unassuming, perhaps even a bit tipsy from the night’s events…certainly not a threat….right? And yet, the back of Feli’s neck prickled as he watched her. There was something about her just didn’t sit right with him, perhaps that smile of hers reminded Feli a bit too much of his own. Regardless, she was a variable, one he couldn’t just leave behind. At least… not until he has a better understanding of her. “Ah, the Boss?” He smiled and leaned against the wall opposite of the door, hooking his thumbs on his pockets. He’d learned to play many roles on the fly, his jobs usually required some quick thinking on his part to ease any suspicion until he was ready to act. He knew enough about the Bucciarelli family to pass as an underling, especially to one who clearly didn’t know much about them. As for his uniform? Well it certainly wasn’t unusual for crime families to use said underlings as hired help during social events—all the more bodies on hand in case things went south. Confident, in his story, Feli smiled apologetically at the woman, even as he continued to appraise her, to search for that single giveaway that would let him know what he should expect of her. He really hoped he wouldn’t have to resort to force, she really was too pretty to be tied up and drugged. With any luck, he could discourage her and still have time to search for any helpful clues in the room. “Sorry, Miss, I think someone might have playing a joke on you. Boss doesn’t like holding parties in his room—says people are pigs and he can never find anything afterwards.” He sighed and shook his head, looking exasperated. “I’m so sorry, some of the boys don’t know how to talk to such a beauty… so they resort to playground pranks. If you don’t mind my company I could escort you back down to the party and—“It was almost by accident that he noticed the key card in her hand as she pocketed it. Now that was unexpected. How did she get a keycard to Bucciarelli’s room? He hadn’t been lying about the man’s dislike of visitors to his room. Sure he’d been known to bring in a woman or two at the end of the night, but he’d never send one up alone. No smart mob boss would—who knows what secrets could be uncovered in their absence. Moreso, no underling who wished to keep breathing would dare give up a card key to a stranger, no matter how pretty. That left only a few options as to how she could have acquired it and none of them innocent. With the speed of a striking cobra, Feli’s hand shot out and latched around her wrist, tugging her closer, his expression hardening into a surprisingly cold stare. “But before you do that, bella, perhaps you can explain to me how you came about the cardkey to the Boss’ room?” His eyes never strayed from hers. Perhaps she was a rival, perhaps just an opportunist, but one thing was sure. Feliciano was not about to let her go until he got the truth.
