370 Words | Elise + Lili | Note: N/A |
| Oh Elise, how could you. Lili expected a nice, uneventful lunch and you have to go and say those embarrassing things! Lili didn't know how to cope with such comments except to smile nervousness, when smiling was honestly the last thing her brain wanted her to do.
“Lets be realistic Lili, did he say he was buying the flowers for his girlfriend? If not, you have an opening. He'll be back, even just to be flowers.” Elise tried to encourage. That was pretty much the opposite of what he brother had said. Some strange man offering flowers to a girl he'd just met, flowers he bought from her for the sake of giving. She didn't blame him for that latter part, her being the only florist in the immediate area. That's how Lili looked at it, anyway. It was a perfectly logical explanation and excuse.
"Well, I do hardly know him. I know his name, at least." Vash's words echoed in her mind. She barely knew him, but isn't that usually how it started? Just meeting someone? Yeah, Vash, take that! Then again.. "I mean, what if he doesn't--"
"You're pretty Lili, he'll be back."
Nope, nope. Positive thoughts. Positivity!
"I hope you find someone soon so I can return all this tenfold." Lili grinned. "No mercy."
Though Elise disliked shopping unbeknownst to Lili with whom she'd never shopped before, Lili didn't mind it. She had a lot of outfits already, so should she go out and get more clothes she might only wear a couple of times? Was it worth it? "I should have told you nothing," Lili joked, "now you've roped me into a shopping trip."
“On the way we can talk about a plan if you're actually serious about snooping on your brother. No need to do it half-assed, it would be bad if we got caught.”
She felt guilting about the snooping thing. There was supposed to be trust between herself and her brother, but she had the sneaking suspicion he wasn't honest with her at all. She wondered silently if there would be any consequences if she did go through with that plan. "... What could go wrong? What would he do?"
After all, she did it because she cared.

Elise gathered her things, telling the waitress she needed no change. It was the perfect amount with the proper tip included, she double checked before giving her hard earned cash away. Even if it was dirty money it was still money. There was no need to waste it needlessly and shopping was probably going to put a huge dent on her wallet today. Damn fall fashions for being so different that summer's; if everything stayed the same she wouldn't need to spend money so much.
She had the name, that was good. If he wasn't interested he wouldn't give her that. He would have just bought the flowers and left. “What's his name?” It was more asked out of keeping the flow of the conversation going. Lili herself didn't sound too confident about it so she didn't want to keep asking things about it if it made her feel bad.
When she mentioned about her finding someone, Elise began to panic. Shit, did she tell Lili she had a boyfriend? Or did they just break up? Oh no, her mind was still too muddled to sort this out. The cold feeling of dread started to sink in, like she was drowning. No, she was getting herself worked up. It sounded like Lili thought she was single. That was good, she would go with that. “If I find someone. Don't worry, I'll expect the same treatment.” Elise laughed awkwardly as she got to her feet.
At least though she wouldn't have to go shopping on her own. “It'll be fun!” A huge lie, but she said it with a huge smile on her face. “I like having another woman's opinion on this stuff. Sometimes I feel like I can barely keep up with the trends. Plus you're around the same size as me, you'll understand my struggle.” It was such a pain looking for clothing. Most of the time the teen stuff fit better but she was trying to look professional and grown up. And a lot of the petite women stores were very.. old lady-ish.
“Nothing should go wrong. We're just following him. We're not asking questions or hurting anyone.” This was a bit amusing, since Lili had no idea she did this kind of stuff all the time. Elise realized she'd probably need to tone things down, so she wouldn't expect anything. “Nancy Drew did this all the time and she never got into too much trouble.”

382 Words | Elise + Lili | Note: N/A |
| If only ever day could be summer and there were no such things as seasons... well, spring or summer. Either one was fine, it would allow Lili to buy as many cute, comfortable little clothes. Lili wasn't too picky, but she still had her various preferences and desires for themes. She loved matching her profession, after all! She seemed to get more requests for arranging when she adorable - or so would say her clients, many of whom suspected she was much younger than she looked and sang praises of such a hardworking young teenage lady and how her parents must be proud of her. (Ouch!)
The nice waitress would be receiving a pair of lovely tips from the girls. Whereas her brother was a frugal as could be, Lili had no qualms about spending money where spending was due. Sliding the strap of her purse back up her shoulder she stood up and waited for Elise to follow. "His name is Donald. He left me with a handful of nicknames, but no surname, I wouldn't be able to find him if I tried." All she could do was wait and hope that he would return. Though she dare not speak this aloud, she wouldn't protest having another conversation with him, if only to hear that musical voice of his.
"Elise! I'll keep an eye around the shop for you, alright? Maybe I'll send someone your way - if you're interested in a little matchmaking!" She knew nothing of matchmaking, but her offer was a genuine one.
“I like having another woman's opinion on this stuff. Sometimes I feel like I can barely keep up with the trends. Plus you're around the same size as me, you'll understand my struggle.” Ahh yes, if large people had their troubles, there were certainly an equal amount of issues for people very much below the standard. Petite ladies were doomed to resize hems for the rest of their lives, unless Lili suddenly started to put on weight randomly.
"Don't worry, I think I can help you find a thing or two." Lili said with a nod. "I know people!" Making friends wherever she went. Such was the life of Lili.
Lili laughed nervously at Elise's comment about Nancy Drew. "Yes, but Nancy Drew is fictional."

Thankfully standing was no longer an issue. Her mind was still very muddled and her hand felt pleasantly numb but the noodle legs were gone. That would have been too embarrassing, stumbling around all over the place or worse, having Lili help her outside. Next time she swore she would take the prescribed amount. Or just take tylenol and sell these, that was always an option too if she needed quick cash. Another thing Lili didn't need to know.
Her jacket was dry when she slid it back on, a blessing from God because her clothes were still a bit damp and she didn't need to get pneumonia. Finally she slung her purse over her shoulder and began to walk to the door. “Donald huh? How many red headed Donalds can there be in London?” This was the first one she ever heard of, but London was a huge city and tracking down people was no easy task. Elise just wanted to get a look at him, to make sure he wasn't an sketchy character. “I'm sure he'll be back Lili, you're too sweet for him not to come back.”
The clothes were the more pressing issue though. Donald was an unknown variable to be figured out at a later date. “I just wish I could buy pants and just.. wear them. Like normal people. Lili, I want to be like normal people.” Elise joked, holding the door open with her good hand for the other woman. “I drank all my milk growing up, how did this happen?” Plus her parents were tall people and her brother had always been tall, what she remembered of him. Marianne was a normal height and Elise was just a little shrimp. Life was never fair.
Outside Elise waited for a taxi to come by to wave down. “Nancy Drew may be fictional but she was adorable and no one could hurt her. Just like us.” Lies, but this wasn't a dangerous job like Elise had. It was just following her brother around, what could go wrong? “What bad could happen? He catches us and scolds us? Oh no~” Ah, there was a taxi! Elise wavered her arm furiously, hoping the guy would see her.

320 Words | Elise + Lili | Note: N/A |
| "This is the first Donald I've ever met..." Not the first man with red hair, though. A lot of men who walked into that store were rather attractive, but not many of them were single. Looking for flowers to cheer up a partner they mistakenly angered, looking to impress someone they had yet to talk to... one finds many romantic men and women in such shops but rarely are they ever looking. They already have.
Well, they would see.
As much as Lili would enjoy seeing him again, she would try to not be too optimistic lest she be sorely disappointed later. Knowing herself, she would fail miserably and eagerly await his return anyway. She laughed at Elise's comment about milk. Vash was so paranoid whenever she went out for the most simple of tasks, buying milk included. As if one day she was going to go out and be involved in a fatal milk-related accident.
"Don't worry Elise, we're about the same height and size, right? We'll figure it out." Elise waved down a taxi and Lili placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Are you going home? We can plan for an outing later, I'm sure you want to get out of your wet clothes." Not quite minding how potentially detrimental her height may one day be, Lili simply reveled in the fact that in the future she would continue to look several years younger than she actually was.
"It's our height that makes us so cute." She agreed in response to Nancy Drew. "You're right, no problems, no issues. Just two unsuspicious cute girls who happen to be following a banker."
The flagged taxi stopped at the side of the road and waiting for one (or both) of the girls to enter.
"Vash can't bear to scold me beyond a raised voice and a slapped wrist." Lili smiled slightly. "That's usually enough, though. I hate upsetting him."

How big of a mess did she look right now? If it was make up and hair, she could salvage that in the car thanks to her little kit. A girl should never leave the house without some sort of disaster preparedness kit in case of an unforeseeable occurrence like rain or high winds. You never knew when mother nature or human stupidity would hit. If it was her clothes, well, she'd play it off to the sales person as a funny story and just wear some clothes out. It wasn't that big of a deal.
“Knowing me, I'd rather go now or I'd never leave the house again today. I've got an event this Friday and today is the only day I have free.” Once she got inside she'd probably strip down and laze about all day like that and never go back out. God, London's weather was so miserable sometimes. It made her regret not going to Paris instead. Too late now, she already made a life for herself here. “My clothes are just a bit damp now, so it isn't much of a problem.”
Elise got into the back of the taxi, pulling her purse onto her lap. Now came the real dilemma, where did she go? The stores Elise usually shopped at for these type of occasions were, well, very high class. Not Sachs Fifth Avenue expensive, but her totals did go into the quadruple digits, which never failed to make her cringe. However, she didn't want to be a show off but there was a level of professionalism and class she needed to maintain. Wasn't Lili herself wealthy though? She could have sworn she lived in the really rich end of the city. Perhaps she was just over thinking this all, Lili had seen her in her working clothes, she must have noticed the high end look of them. Girls noticed these things after all. Ahh fuck it all, she'd go to the places she liked.
“Can you take us down to Sloane Street, sir? Thank you.” Elise said, taking the time to check her phone now. Only a few messages from her clients, all of which we solved with a few words. Honestly, she didn't think she could do complex answers right now. “I hope you don't mind going down there Lili, I don't think I could deal with the pretentiousness at Bond Street. They're more relaxed down there.”

“I hope you don't mind going down there Lili, I don't think I could deal with the pretentiousness at Bond Street. They're more relaxed down there.”
Lili laughed as she seated herself in the taxi, comfortable positioned away from the edge of the seat which was somewhat damp from the rain. "Of course not, you know I work down there, right?" Of course she did, she'd come down to her store often, but Lili attributed that question to her drug-induced high, and quietly hoped she had enough of her mind to avoid being scammed out of something or overpaying. Elise was smart, though... plus Lili was there, and she'd never let that happen to her friend.
It was still chilly outside and she shivered when she closed the door, pushing more of the unwanted cold air into the car was, thankfully, graced with a working heater. The air was quickly disposed of and replaced with glorious warmth, and in the back of Lili's mind she silently lamented that soon she would be required to leave the vehicle and abandon the warmth entirely. If one looks around enough they find hand-held fans that cool one off in the summer, was there an opposite? A portable, tiny heater that keeps one warm during the winter?
"It's a pity this is a day off for me," Lili began, "This would have been pretty convenient for me, being able to have lunch, meet you, go back to work without a problem-- but I can't imagine why I'd go so far away from the store to just have a sandwich." When she thought about food, usually all she needed was a quick trip across the street and she could bring things back if she wanted to.
Ah, well, maybe luck would be with her the next time she stepped out of the house.
