Honestly the task he had taken upon himself for the day was far more stressful that he had originally thought, and it was hard to find the best moment to speak up and mention it to Lukas. It was left up to his imagination how he would react, and honestly he was hardly expecting anything outside of a full fledged fit.
Eirik fidgeted in his seat the whole ride to the hospital, casting his brother conspicuous little glances every few moments for no reason other than to calm his nerves. What if he said no? Even worse if he made a scene! The worst case scenarios ran through his mind as they climbed out of the car in silence, walking through the door that Lukas held open for him into the sterile building with not so much as a "thank you."
He sat himself in one of the stiff chairs while Lukas took care of notifying the nurse that he was there for his appointment and he decided that it was as best a time as any to mention it. Once his brother sat down beside him the moody teen spoke up.
"The appointment, I'll be fine. You should go get coffee and I'll meet you down in the cafe when I finish."
The words were light, simple, but the meaning behind them was more than clear. It was the usual teenager jargon, 'leave me alone! I'm an adult now and I don't need you being a helicopter parent Lukas.'
He rose when the nurse called his name, walking stiffly over to her and praying his brother wouldn't follow. His prayers weren't answered, they never were when his brother was concerned. Stubborn git. Why wouldn't he just listen?!
Mentally he counted to ten and turned to look over at Lukas with a frown, knowing better than to think that Lukas would listen to him the first time. He sucked in his breath and pressed his lips into a firm line, brow furrowed as he contemplated the best way to make him listen for once. "It's just a checkup. Nothing new will be learned here, can you trust me a little regarding my own health?" His hands shoved down into his pockets and his sunk back a little, lowering his chin to hide himself in the scarf loosely around his neck. This was the part that he dreaded, and he hoped Lukas wouldn't be cross with him asking so bluntly.

Lukas had been worried over his younger brother for the past days. Oh well, he had always been worried about his brother thanks to his health, but Lukas had clearly noticing that the younger sibling had been feeling worse than he usually did lately. He had not been as excited when Lukas brought Licorice with him home, neither had he been that demanding lately, and more or less he had just found the Icelandic boy in his lap, fast asleep and mostly always tired.
So it was with his heart in his throat that he drove him to the hospital. The sleek car was moving swiftly in the lanes, going over the speed-limits, but did he care? No, he just wanted to get this over with and get the positive results, his brother being healthy and good, even better than before! Then it would all be good.. How one could be so naïve sometimes.
He followed him inside when they arrived; the same procedure they always did at the appointments, as it has always been ever since Lukas could drive the other. Eirík just being himself and going inside, at least acting decent, not causing a scene, and actually being quiet for once. It had been quite different in the beginning, all the chaos that had been during his first appointments when he had been big enough to understand what was really going on.
Sitting down next to him once he had informed the nurse, he just simply arched an eyebrow in his brothers direction, as if he snorted at him from the inside, and leaned back to look ahead of them, but kept his gaze steady on Eirík from the corner of his eyes. Observing how he was not happy with the answer; but he couldn't always get what he wanted in this world, especially when this concerned Lukas as well.
Yet Lukas became frustrated when the other really insisted, as he was about to follow him when he was declined by the other. "I'm your brother, your legal guardian, I am going to follow you inside, hear the results and then base my reaction from that. You might be big enough to attend that yourself, but you are not mature enough to do it. And I need to follow for the sake of my research." Both too stubborn sometimes for their own good. The nurse looked slightly awkward next to the brothers, not too sure she should interrupt or not, probably better if she didn't. "And no, I can't, considering how many times you have fainted upon me when you have told me that you have been fine? I am coming with you."
Arms crossed over his chest, he was going to follow, no matter what Eirík might say.

If Eirik was of a lesser mind he would have whined loudly and stomped his feet, throwing a tantrum in an attempt to force Lukas to give him his way. Honestly it was what his brain was telling him to do, and he had half a mind to just listen. Fatigue had overtaken him, his joints screaming with every step that he had to take into the examination room.
He hadn't even thought, his legs had just led him there as he stayed horrified over his brother's reluctance. Maybe he had just been baited into a trap, Lukas wanted him to react negatively so he could have his point proven that he wasn't mature. Eirik though was one step ahead, and he wouldn't let the other have the satisfaction of getting a negative reaction out of him. He sucked in his disappointment and sat himself up on the examination table, the paper making that awful crinkle under him as he shifted to lie back and stare at the ceiling.
For the last few weeks something had been off with him, he just knew it, and by Lukas's obvious frustration the other knew it all too well. Honestly he hated feeling so helpless over his own health, without Lukas there to constantly tend to him there was little doubt he would be confined to a hospital bed. The elder seemed to do everything for him, even setting his life's path just for him. It was a thought he hated, it made him feel guilty over being such a burden for him. There were times the the thought crossed his mind that it would be better if he wasn't there at all and had just died as in infant instead of taking over Lukas's life like he had. Yet he knew Lukas wouldn't just be hurt by the thought, he would be enraged that Eirik even thought about it. He would just have to do his best in threshing his own path, maybe one day Lukas could move on and make himself a future.
With regards to things not being quite right, he had been rather tired over the last few days. Even tasks like bathing were becoming rather stressful to muster up the strength to pull through, but that sort of task was no one he was willing to ask Lukas to help with. If he couldn't bathe and feed himself he might as well be in the hospital bed, because Lukas would tighten in his reigns out of worry. There would be nowhere he could go by himself if that occurred, he would have to stay home with his brother fawning over him constantly. It would be horrible.
"Dinner, what do you have planned?" he asked to break the tense silence in the room, Lukas's annoyance to blame.

Lukas blinked a couple of times when Eirik actually did obey him and let him join in on the examination. He had been expecting some kind of tantrum from him; bitter words, the younger one pushing him out of the room, or just.. Something. He stood there for a moment to make sure he was seeing and hearing right when Eirik did sit, and then laid down on the hospital bed, and Lukas slowly moved over to sit next to him, hands gently stroking his brother's soft, light hair with easy movements.
The Norwegian was quite awkward when it came to feelings, he had a hard time expressing himself and making people realise whenever he liked them or not. Except towards his brother. Lukas still had problem to show on his features that he did love and valued him as the most prized possession in the world, but he surely showed it more often enough in his actions, and his words, instead of facial expression.
"I was thinking, if you had energy we could go to the Italian restaurant in city." Voice spoken unusually soft for being Lukas, and his free hand took his brother's hand to hold it. "If you're feeling too tired, we could order something if you want to?" He didn't exactly feel like cooking today, whenever his brother wasn't feeling well enough, and when they had to go to the hospital, Lukas lost a lot of the energy in himself as well. He was putting down so much time in the lab, he just wished he could find some way to cure his brother right away, so he didn't have to be in this pain all the time..
A nurse came inside together with a doctor to look over Eirík's journal, taking a few tests on him, asking both the brother's various questions as well, which Lukas at least answered honestly to. Making sure he was there as well as a support for his brother, so he knew that he wasn't alone in this, and carefully squeezed his hand. "I have the day off tomorrow since the bacteria needs to rest, do you want to do anything special tomorrow?" Ignoring the nurses and doctors, as his eyes was back on his brother.
