Mathias was tired. Honestly these days, he was always tired, and even though he closed his bakery to regular customers on sundays, it wasn't closed to his “other business.” So as a whole, it was as though the Dane never stopped working. He felt like when he wasn't working, he walked around everywhere in a daze, his head lolling forward everytime he stood in one place too long.
Today however, he was sitting at home, and despite his overwhelming exhaustion, he just couldn't seem to get to sleep. His mostly hairless kitten hopped up into his lap, and though the cat did provide some comfort, it wasn't enough to get the throughly tired man to doze off.
So he took it upon himself to pluck up the phone and dial the number of his good friend.
But of course there was no answer. It seemed like Nico was always busy all the time, and convienently forgot his phone when Mathias wanted to talk.
Of course it was like one in the morning... but that didn't stop him from getting irritated that Nico didn't answer. Of course there were plenty of times Mathias didn't answer his phone too... and most nights he wasn't home all day, nor did he answer his phone.. but that was besides the point!
Plus, if he knew Nico, the boy was probably at the casino bar that he owned. Mathias always wondered how someone so young could get his hands on his own bar, but that wasn't important. What wasn't important was that Nico had drinks, and maybe if Mathias got a drink, he could go home and get some rest.
Okay maybe going to Nico's to get a drink was just an excuse. Maybe he was actually lonely or something.
Whatever.
He pulled on his coat and slipped through the door, making sure to grab his umbrella because it was quite rainy outside.
When he got to Nico's bar after passing through the dizzying lights of the late night casino, he sat down with his hand on his chin.
“Hey Nico, need some company?”
