велике спасибі Today was a really busy day, and a tad annoying for the Ukrainian nurse. The hospital got much more patients than the usual, with more demanding attitude and a pack of paparazzi waiting at the front gate. It's hard to come and go when those people are ready to launch themselves at the nearest person they saw, asking things that certainly irrelevant to what a hospital do. Like about the mastermind behind the Maximantics bombing yesterday. Why don't they ask the police instead? Or someone from the government? No one here knew who did it. Well, Katyusha had some suspicions, but she couldn't say anything to her co-workers, although she listened to some gossips and issues from them. She didn't want to risk her side job and people she had been involved with. Yawning, Katyusha made her way from a VIP room to the nurse office. She had to sleep there since the hospital needed more staff after working almost non-stop. At times like this, Katyusha wished she was at her home relaxing on her couch, knitting. Or just chatting with Kasem... and speaking of him, she hadn't hear anything about the Asian. He didn't pick up his phone either. The Ukrainian hoped he was just attending other business, instead of caught in the explosion and now lying in a dark alley with bloodied shirt... oh God, no. Disappointment grew in her heart when she opened the office's door. Someone else was using the couch for sleeping. Sighing, the woman turned, going to search for another place for resting, but she almost bumped to the head nurse, a woman in her mid-fifty. "Oh, Katya..." she looked relieved upon seeing her. "Would you pass this to the laboratory down there? I have to attend the patient at--" she glanced to the couch, handing Katyusha a folder. "Ah, I've told Mary to sleep somewhere else. Guess she didn't remember it." "Should I wake her up, then?" she offered, taking the folder from her superior. It was empty. "No, no need for that. Mary is still unused to this hectic job. Just pass the folder, ask anyone there about recently identified bodies before we return it to the family." Katyusha nodded and went down the nearest elevator. The lab was on the ground floor, so maybe after she passed the map she could go to the cafeteria for food - it was almost lunch time. The woman arrived to the lab and pushed the door open, but she didn't see anyone there. "Excuse me? Anyone here?"

At times, his job could get very tiring, even unbearably so. Now was one of those times. Corpses just seem to be wheeled in every few minutes, he wondered if he would ever get through them all. He was making progress, yeah, but it didn't seem like his efforts were enough. All he could really do was keep going on, even if it did take a while. He didn't want to spend too much time on a single body, so he was just moving between the ones currently in the lab every few minutes.
He discarded the rubber gloves he was wearing, only to replace them with new ones. Jotting down a few notes, he moved to the next body bag. Setting his clipboard down on a side table, he unzipped the bag only to be greeted with the smell of burnt flesh. 'Definitely must have been found in or very close to a fire. Where's my container Vick's when I need it?... Ah, I'll look for it in a bit, I'll just tolerate the smell for just a few seconds...' he thought, turning his head slightly away. 'Face damaged beyond recognition, check dental records' is what he quickly wrote down on that clipboard, zipping up the bag right after. The last thing he wanted was the room to fill up with some horrible smell yet again.
He heard the door open, a voice calling out, and went to see who in their right mind would stop by during his examinations. Usually doing so will end up getting ushered out of the lab to talk in the hallway. He blinked a few times, not recognizing the woman right away. "Oh, hello there. I didn't know someone would stop by, I might have tidied up a bit if I did. Can I help you with anything?" he asked, putting a smile on his face. Surely the woman was here for a reason, and it better be a good one at that. He couldn't really afford to spend much time on anything with the amount of "patients" he had to take care of.

велике спасибі The usual scent of the laboratory was slightly interfered by a faint odor of scorched flesh. Those bodies had been sent to the hospital several hours ago, but their smell was still lingered here, disturbing Katyusha's sense of smell. Although she did had some training that required her to be involved with burnt bodies, the Ukrainian was still feeling a tad uncomfortable being near them. She was glad she hadn't had her lunch yet. A male voice answered her from the other side of the room. Katyusha approached him, returning his polite smile. "Yes... the head nurse wants the identity documents of the explosions victim, if there is any that you already identified," she gave him the map from her boss. "She will release their names as soon as possible, so their families can take the body home." The identifying process looked like would be a long one since most of them were barely identifiable. Their fancy clothes were completely turned into ashes and so few accessories survived the fire from the explosion. It gets worse if they suffered major physical injuries, like falling from a fifty stories' window. They had to rearrange the body parts before they looked for their identity. Her blue eyes scanned the tables. This man must be busy, there were so many bodies here and so far Katyusha hadn't seen any other person in the laboratory. "Looks like you're busy," said her, "I am going to grab some lunch. I'll grab something for you if you want..." the nurse frowned a bit. She couldn't remember his name, even though his face was familiar and she was certain had heard his name being spoken several times by the other nurses. Did she can't remember it because she was almost never visited the laboratory, therefore unable to recognize people there with names she already knew? Was his name Ryan? Or James...?
