A FALLEN STAR, AT LEAST I FALL ALONE | The size of Hyde Park was phenomenal, and it wasn't long after Sergio had set off from Scotland Yard that he found himself there. He wasn't even entirely sure that part of Knights bridge was the part he was supposed to be in for his task that afternoon, but it was a place to start, he figured. After all, surely there'd be an officer on patrol duty in the park somewhere, even if he needed to hike around for a while to find them. And even if said officer wasn't the Baldwin Chase he was told by the receptionist at Scotland Yard to find, logically any member of police around would be aware of him and be able to direct Sergio towards him. Hmn... Social interaction. He wasn't looking forward to it, he never did; but – well... It was for work, so he couldn't really avoid it. If he'd adhered to a job where he'd never have to interact with anyone, he'd probably have been stuck behind a computer in an office somewhere, and whereas he supposed he'd have been fine with that, it wasn't really much of a challenge.
His hands still firmly in his pockets and his feet dragging a little through the pebble dash by now, he passed by office workers drinking coffee, closely-knit groups of students and the occasional couple walking hand-in-hand or with a pushchair in front of them; the normal types of people that frequented parks like that one. He paid little mind to any of them, specifically searching for a man or a woman in the black and white uniform. He wasn't dressed for duty himself, but being used to plainclothes jobs he didn't think it would matter. Besides, it was technically his day off and if this job was for an on-duty officer, it would have been filled by one already.
It seemed like he'd been searching to no avail for the good part of an hour before his eyes actually latched on to a uniformed man; he was actually quite relieved that his suspicions had been correct in that respect and there was another officer present. He lifted his posture a bit, breaking into a jog until he'd managed to approach the man, his fingers in his pocket feeling for the leather binding of his badge for proof of identity.
“S'cuse me. Sir.” He began once he'd come to a halt, producing his badge and flashing it to the man. “Officer González. Scotland Yard've hired me for a patrol job. M'looking for an Officer Chase.” |

MOD - OFFICER BALDWIN CHASE You know, he never really signed up for this... Well okay he technically did sign up to become a police officer and went though the hell of training to get to where he was today, but he really didn't sign up to do this cruddy patrol job - he has more important things to do. And dont' assume that he was going to go take a tea break and get some scones or anything. Wrong. He's supposed to meet up with another officer and detective to look into this homicide case. This was an emergency that was planned days before. He asked the receptionist to tell someone about it just a week before he had to go to a debriefing with the detective to see what the man found out but then no - no one wants to take a boring patrol job. See? That's the point. No one wants the patrol job. Yet, perhaps you can say that something answered his prayers - something. There same a man that asked if he was the Officer Baldwin Chase. And he's talking about that patrol job. Bloody damned amazing. "Then you would be looking for me. Good to meet you, Officer González." He held his hand out for a handshake - it was polite. Though perhaps formalities would have to wait - he needs to go - at least for a short while. By the time this would be done with the patrol, he would be done with the meeting "I'm on a race for time here - so I'm making this short and sweet. It's simple - just take a walk around Knightsbridge - the Estates, and a couple of shops. When you're done, you report to me. I have to go to meet this detective, but I'll be back when the patrols are over."He paused, he needs to breathe. "Got it?"

A FALLEN STAR, AT LEAST I FALL ALONE | So this guy was Officer Chase? Good, that meant that Sergio could start the job straight away, rather than having to keep looking about beforehand. He pocketed his badge and shook the man's hand out of courtesy.
It was just a regular patrol job, after all, it seemed. The other officer said he was in a hurry – he was even rushing through the briefing – and so Sergio figured that even if he had any questions in mind, it would be best not to ask them. Besides, he was the type who preferred to cut the crap wherever possible anyway. “Understood.” He answered. Take a walk around Knightsbridge, keep an eye out for anything suspicious; report back to this guy afterwards, whether there was anything going on or not – simple enough even for the most novice members of the police force. Hell, it was a wonder they didn't draft in someone from a nearby station, but no, it had been assigned through Scotland Yard. Sergio would have been lying if he said he wasn't a little confused as to why that was – weren't Scotland Yard supposed to have more pressing tasks available? Well, there was no point in him complaining about that – he'd taken up the job on his own initiative, and he'd known it was a patrol job from the start; he couldn't really ask for it to be anything else... He just found it to be odd, was all.
Regardless, he thanked Officer Chase and set off towards the park's exit. He'd spend at least an hour in the Knightsbridge area, he figured. Maybe two; probably longer than that, even, if he came across anything untoward. That was long enough for the other officer to get his own task over and done with, right? |
