Never once did it state that he was in fact an egg. Sort of make you think, doesn't it?" |
Huh, he had a point there. And, hilarious, she actually ran through the rhyme a couple of times to make sure he was right. It was true, Humpty was never specified to be an egg! It was as if he entire childhood was crashing down on her! Nah, not really. But it did beg the question of why he was an egg, why he was sitting on a wall, and who the awful person was who dared to push him from his perch! Wow, was she really going to try and analyze a rhyme made for children? Despite the invitation to think about it, made by Lukas himself. “Maybe it was the suggestion of people trying to put him back together. Why would you try to put a human back together?” Lili reasoned, thoughtfully bringing her hand to her mouth and chin. “When you think about it, I can’t imagine the horses trying to help made it any easier.” She held up her hands, as if trying to visibly illustrate her point with a grin. “Hooves, no fingers.” She imagined soldiers trying to tell the horses to go away, but no! They wanted to help! … by trampling him into the ground. Poor Humpty. After the conversation of her trying to give Lukas some confidence in his future, it was his turn to offer a little of his own. "Well, you never know unless you try." “That’s true but—I don’t know. I’ve never been much of a writer. I can’t really finish anything I start.” Lili attempted to explain. It wasn’t as if she totally spurned the idea of writing forever, but she hated starting anything without finishing. It happened with writing too much, and considering her love of reading she felt it was very bad to admit.[/div] And carry me away as light as a feather. [/div]

“Maybe it was the suggestion of people trying to put him back together. Why would you try to put a human back together?"
She had a good point there. 'Why would they try to put him together again? He didn't fall apart upon hitting the ground, now did he? No, he probably broke a quite a few bones, possibly die on impact, not really fall apart... Humans aren't puzzles, there aren't separate pieces that you can take out and put back on as if nothing happened, and you can use them good as new....'
"Well, maybe it's trying to say something else entirely. True, horses would be rather useless in that situation, but perhaps they served a different purpose. Maybe the king's men rode the horses to find someone to "heal" poor Humpty, but if they failed to find someone, Humpty could have died and they were unable to "put him back together again" and save his life. Of course, this is all speculation and there is a chance I am in fact wrong..." he said. Oh how the stories seemed so innocent when he was younger. He never looked into things so deeply back then, but now...well, sometimes he wishes he could go back to those days and enjoy a story simply for the story and not any undertones it has.
“That’s true but—I don’t know. I’ve never been much of a writer. I can’t really finish anything I start.”
"In that case, perhaps you need someone to help you finish it. There are a few novels out there with more than a single author, yes? Perhaps if you find a good partner, I'm sure it would work for the best," he responded. She didn't seem to have much faith in her writing skills. She did seem to have a way with words, though maybe it's putting them on paper that's the major issue.

It seemed to take a certain kind of topic to get Lukas to pull out of his shell and send him on a massive rant. Lili couldn’t help but laugh at how deeply they were going into this.
“I supposed we’ll never know.” |
She said with a terse laugh. “After all, the author didn’t leave us any explanations. Just a, ‘this is what it is, deal with it’ kind of thing.” Not that it mattered. Most rhymes are meant to be taken with a grain of salt. That’s probably why no one ever thinks about the messages unless they’re bored. What kids thought about the hidden messages in the rhymes they’re told as kids? Lili never did—only when she got older. "In that case, perhaps you need someone to help you finish it. There are a few novels out there with more than a single author, yes? Perhaps if you find a good partner, I'm sure it would work for the best," Ahhh, Lukas. If only it was that easy. If Lili couldn’t put her own ideas on paper how could someone else do it for her? He had a point, yes, that people tended to work together on projects like novels but that wasn’t really a way to make a living. Not for her. It could just be a hobby she indulged in every now and then. Lili was fine with that. Writing wasn’t her strong point, and she never intended to make it be such. “Well, even so, I’ll probably just stick to what I know and what I’m best at. I have way too many unfinished projects, I don’t think writing is really the life I need to get into.” That being flowers. It was he job, after all. The conversation passed the time fairly well, the café was already in sight just down the road. [/div] And carry me away as light as a feather. [/div]

"True... Well, those sort of things tend to make people think and come up with ideas. Some sensible, and others...not so much..." He laughed softly. Sometimes reading between the lines was just troublesome, if anything else. Especially when other people do it and they come up with ridiculous thoughts. It's just a pain...
“Well, even so, I’ll probably just stick to what I know and what I’m best at. I have way too many unfinished projects, I don’t think writing is really the life I need to get into.”
Well, he didn't mean for it to come of as if he wanted her to write or anything. "Ah, I see. Well, I'm sure you will get around to those unfinished projects then, yes? Not now, of course, but soon, I suppose," he said. He could see the cafe from there, which he was slightly grateful for. He couldn't wait to get a cup of coffee...
'Ah, well, the conversation was sort of going downhill anyway. Maybe once we get inside everything can start up again. It would be a shame if another conversation were to die. Though, what would we even talk about next? I would like to refrain bringing up this conversation again, and avoiding family is a must. Hm...perhaps movies? They don't have to be ones out in theater's, just any in general. If that fails, then we can go to music. There's a larger variety of music than books, so that could take quite a while...'
He hoped he didn't bore the other in any way. His father had a way of making people want to fall asleep with his words, and that was something Lukas didn't want to have inherited. It was bad enough he wasn't the most social of people, but if he was boring too... Well, that wouldn't be good at all, now would it?
