Tired of the crazy things in your life? Have you seen things that no one else sees and you yourself think that you're the crazy one? Something is driving you insane and you need to vent? Well, the hospital offers therapy services so spill your inner most secrets and worries onto the therapists, but please... nothing too disguising. Of course, it doubles as a mental ward - just how and where is a very big secret.

Alfred fidgeted in his chair. Why the hell had he agreed to this again?
Oh yes, his new boss had insisted on it.
"You should give it a try, Jones," he remembered the slightly balding man telling him in that goofy accent that everyone had around here. "We're not saying that you're mad or anything, but you deal with a lot of stress on this job. It'll do you some good to have someone to vent to."
Alfred argued a bit longer, but in the end decided to go along with it. What could it hurt? He knew he wasn't crazy, and maybe talking to some dude he didn't know from a hole in the head could help. He doubted it, but might as well humor his boss. He wanted to make a good impression since he was still new in town. The guys in Philly knew him, the guys in London were a different story.
So far, the trip wasn't going too well. Alfred hated waiting, especially for something like this, and he was sure that the man sitting a few feet away from him probably thought something was seriously wrong with him considering the way his leg kept bouncing. Really, it was just Alfred and his inability to sit still when he was bored. That didn't make him crazy, did it? He sure hoped not. Now that he was here, he was suddenly overly conscious of every action that he made. He didn't want anyone to misinterpret him and think he was some kook or something just because he said or did something wrong. The man, the only other person in the waiting room, was called back, leaving Alfred alone in the lobby.
He needed something to distract him pronto.
He heard noise by the door and glanced upward. Hellooooooo distraction!
A woman entered, about Al's age if he had to take a guess. She wasn't bad looking either. He found himself wondering what she was doing here. Well, he'd never know if he didn't strike up a conversation with her, right? Grinning, Alfred gestured to the seat across from him. "Heya! Alfred F. Jones, cop. What brings you to this humble abode?" Ah, look at him, acting like they weren't meeting up in a shrink's office of all places.
[This is for Linh. =P]

How many times had it been now? Four? Linh grimaced at the idea of returning to therapy for the fourth time. Just because she was alert and reserved and that classified under a few mental disorders did not mean she was crazy. "I have to admit, you're tough and determined as hell. But... we still think it's best that we keep sending you back to do more testing on your IED." Linh grasped tightly to the book she was carrying with her into the office. She wasn't crazy. There wasn't anything wrong with her.
She pushed her way through the door, facing the cold air with a noticeably displeased expression. Linh was never much for the cold climate of London, everything else about it she could handle. Linh, still clutching to her book, made her way past a blonde haired man and sat down in her now usual seat in the corner, two seats down from him. She cringed, feeling his eyes upon her, and immediately cracked open her book to distract her mind from working its way into the very emotion that she was here to be tested on.
Her lips pressed together firmly as she heard the man two seats down speak to her. Normally, she would've simply responded with a greeting back if that would've been it--but most of the time she chose to completely ignore the likes of people such as this man. But no, he kept going. Linh blinked a few times, taking in the man's introduction and giving him a quick, vicious sideways glance before looking back at her book. Cop? He must not have been a very good one to just announce himself like that. Did he honestly think she would be impressed?
"You must be daft to just announce your occupation like that among unfamiliar faces." Linh nonchalantly turned the page in her book. "You never know what kind of company you might be in. As for me, I'm here just for the same reason you and everyone else is: to be examined." Of course her words came out sharp and coarse but Linh was most surprised that she could even manage to say that much to the man. | [atrb=style, background-color: #7d637b][atrb=vAlign,top] A SMILE

Whoa. Someone clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He wasn't trying to impress her, only to start up a conversation with her. He liked meeting new people, what could he say?
"Hey, hold your horses! It's called small talk." Maybe there was a reason why this chick was here after all, if she was going to bite his head off just for attempting to talk to her. He was just trying to make their time in the waiting room go by faster. As far as he was concerned, this was as good an opportunity as any to get to know some new people in this new city!
Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately, depending on how one looked at it), Alfred wasn't one to be deterred that easily. If anything, her snapping at him made him that much more determined to make conversation with her. He managed to remain silent for a couple of moments, though kept his eyes on Linh the whole time. What? There wasn't much else for him to do. Most of the magazines set out weren't really his style, and the only thing he had with him was his phone. He supposed he could play Tetris, but he found the challenge of getting mystery girl to talk to him more fun.
"What are you reading?" There, he was just asking a simple question now. If she decided to bite his head off over that, it was all on her. He shifted a little in his seat. "Why do they make the chairs in these places so uncomfortable? They know people are gonna be waiting around in them all day!" Okay, now he was just prodding. Hopefully it would get her to cheer up a bit. Hopefully.
...pigs might learn to fly some day, after all.

Oh how she wanted him to just stay quiet. Most people would’ve just gotten offended by now and walked away on their own volition. But no, not this man. In fact, he only seemed to be enticed by her remarks. Linh’s eyes grew dark as they trailed across the page she was on. The words could barely stick in her mind due to her growing annoyance caused by the man who was still talking. Luckily Linh’s employers paid for her to go talk to some professional; she had no intention of doing any extra talking. But, it seemed like it was going to be the only way to get the man to stop.
Her lips pursed with infuriation as she felt his eyes on her in the almost enjoyable silence that followed his previous comments. Linh took in a deep breath through her nose and took a long while to exhale, trying her best to compose herself. There was no telling what her physiatrist would diagnose her with if she went in there after losing her patience with the person sitting a few seats down from her. “If you really care to know, I’m reading the dictionary.” Linh looked up at the man as he continued, not even hardly waiting for a response. Her eyes widened with quiet frustration even though she maintained an alarmingly blank expression.
“It’s quite enthralling, you should read it sometime.” She ground her teeth together behind tightened lips as she took the moment to observe the man entirely, just in case their paths ever crossed again. “Now, if you don’t mind, I’d really like to get back to my book. I just love it that much.” As she finished, she spoke through her bared teeth, blinking a few more times as she tried to recompose herself once more. She quickly pulled through with a venomous smile before turning back to her book. | [atrb=style, background-color: #7d637b][atrb=vAlign,top] A SMILE

Was Alfred offended? Actually, he was. He didn't like that she'd snapped at him out of the blue like that when he was just trying to be friendly. Was it so hard just to say 'hello' back rather than just insult him at first glance? If she was going to play that way, so was he!
That and, admittedly, this young woman's standoff-ish nature made him curious. He wanted to know why she was in such a sour mood. It couldn't be just him, that didn't make any sense. Something else had to have built up to it. What Alfred didn't realize was that a whole hell of a lot had let up to it, hence why she was sitting in the lobby of a therapists' office in the first place. Then again, so was he, and he didn't have any issues as far as he could tell. His boss just wanted him to go as a precaution, probably so he'd get to know the therapist in case something did happen and he actually needed to go full time.
Alfred could not help but let out a snort at Linh's answer. He smiled a little when she suggested that he should try reading it at some point. "Oh, the dictionary? I've read that one already. I'm waiting for the sequel, I've been told it's supposed to be pretty good too. I hear it's called the thesaurus or something?" It was doubtful that he'd actually get a laugh out of her, but he'd be damned if he didn't keep trying. At the very least, he was having fun, even if she wasn't? Though it would be better if she joined in as well. He didn't like to be the only one having fun - He liked having fun with others the best.

Linh’s eyes narrowed as she read the same paragraph at least three times. Silence finally fell between them for a while but she was still distracted by his unmoving eyes. Her fingers twitched as her shoulders slowly rolled forward. Needless to say she was very uncomfortable with the fact that the man had been studying her for so long. She wasn’t about to assure herself that he was just some average joe who was simply curious, not someone out to get her; but she could never be sure and she would much rather have been safe than sorry.
She pursed her lips at the sound of his snort. She wasn’t trying to be funny. Or was he mocking her? When he followed up with a joke of his own, she couldn’t help but turn and look at him with a blank yet sullen expression. She took a deep breath, trying desperately to compose herself for the fear of being called back for her appointment and being on the fritz with this man shoving her off the edge of annoyance. She looked away from the man and sat back into her chair while pressing a hand to her forehead, discovering the head ache she had just received. What was she going to do? Perhaps if I play dead he’ll lose interest, she thought to herself, chewing a bit on her bottom lip.
At this time, Linh made no response to the man sitting two seats down from her. She only continued to read the same paragraph another two times. She focused on the pages, trying to block out everything else around her but found it to be a rather challenging task. The fact that she was having such difficulty only caused her more distress. Linh gripped tightly to her book, forcing herself to read the next paragraph.

Alfred found himself waiting for a response that clearly wasn't coming. Oh, she had her nonverbal responses, but it was pretty clear that she was trying to remain as stoic as possible. That didn't leave Alfred with much to work with. Hell, even her snapping at him again would be better than the silent treatment. Alfred could not stand awkward silences, to the point where he fidgeted in his seat a tad.
It was getting to the point where he couldn't stand it anymore. He had to say something, even if it was something ridiculous, just to lighten the atmosphere in the room again. As he opened his mouth to do so, however, he heard a door open to reveal a person standing there. "I'm looking for a Mr. Jones?"
Alfred stood up at once. "That's me," He stated with a friendly smile. The person with the clipboard looked at the form, then looked him over.
"Ah, City Police? We get a few of you guys in here. I'll take you back to your room..."
Alfred smiled and went to follow, but not before looking back at Linh. "It was nice meeting you! I feel like we had a great opportunity to get to know each other here! Perhaps we'll met up again soon?" Maybe she'd be in a better mood then too. He doubted it, but hey. He did genuinely hope that he met her again though. She interested him, for some odd reason, and he wanted to get to know her further. Perhaps because she was willing to offer forth so little about herself in the first place. It left him wanting to know more. Why was she acting so stand-off ish? What did she have to hide, if anything? All of these questions and more went through Alfred's mind as he left the lobby behind and headed back to the room his session would take place in.
