[cs=3] Personality | ||
[cs=3] Composed: Sindri comes across as a very composed young man. He is well mannered, and will act properly within the right company. His father was always clear enough about not disrespecting the family name after all. However, Sindri is just a teen after all, and one largely sheltered from the world's troubles at that. If his conversational partner is not aware of his status he might just loosen up the act with them. Inexperienced: Sindri is inexperienced, in many ways. Due to his weak health his world never extended much further than his own home and family. His interaction with his peer group has been sparse, pushed aside by a whirl of company parties and home tutors. This inexperience isn't only on a social level, he has little knowledge of how to cook or other domesticities since he never had to do any of them. Let alone any 'street-smart' knowledge. Easy to Read: Due to his limited interaction with other peers his age, Sindri never quite mastered the skill of lying. Even as the younger brother, it was always quite obvious "who's hand was the one stuck in the cookie jar" and shifting the blame never did work out for him. As a result, he is often quite honest in his actions. And when he is not, people can be quick to notice. His emotions may not always be spelled out on his face, but his intentions tend to be. Neat: Out of necessity. Sindri keeps himself and his surroundings clean. With his weak health it is quite important for him to take any precaution he can to keep himself in the best shape he can. It's the main reason he wears gloves as well. To reduce the chance of germs passing through contact or allergens getting onto his skin. Book smart: What he lacks in street smarts he makes up in general intelligence. He is a bright boy overall. His tutors thought him what he needs to know, though he was never expected to match his brother or succeed his father's business. Spoiled: Whatever a young boy needed, he had it. And what love his distant father failed to give he managed to get through his doting brother. He was never exposed to many of the dirtier realities of life, except through the distant news. Is it any surprise he may act a little spoiled some times? He can sometimes forget that the world won't just come to him on a silver platter. Narrow Minded: Because of his sheltered upbringing, Sindri does not know much of the rest of the world. What he knows is the morals and norms within the rich community he grew up in. It's not a purposeful decision of his own, but he can sometimes have a tad of difficulty in understanding the living situations and habits of others. Dependent: Due to his bad health, he has been dependent on many things through his life. His Father, to pay for his expenses. His medicine, for keeping him alive. His tutors, to educate him when he could not go to school. His brother, for a supporting shoulder and affection. In a way, his life was always led for him, because of all the ties and attachments he had to others. Rebelling: Sindri is no longer fond of being blindly dependent on others to survive. While 'rebelling' might be a strong word, he is definitely pushing away from the norms that defined his younger years. He can't change the medicine he needs, but he can attempt to become more independent. It's his own decision to take up university, even though he could easily live out the rest of his life in the shadows, living of his father's money. Reserved: Tying in to his bid for independence, he is reserved in telling people about himself. After all, people are less likely to take him seriously if they know things were handed to him without much trouble. He is reserved as he can be when it comes to talking about his health conditions to people, though that is barely a secret he can keep. Kind hearted: He might try to push away from the coddling he experienced in the past, thanks to a combination of embarrassment and a need for independence, but he remains a kind hearted boy. He enjoys affection, even if his teenage pride is too strong to admit it so openly. Because of his sheltered upbringing he retains a kind of naïvety to the real dangers of the world. Witty: He can have a surprisingly sarcastic or dry wit. Being home sick left him with enough time to spend watching television, reading books or playing games. He's picked up some of the quips and humour through them, though he's not necessarily the best at delivering them. | ||
Likes | Hates | Fears |
Birds: Sindri has allergies to many pets, but not birds. As such he has a fondness for them. He has his own pet canary in his room. Liquorice: Not a popular candy with many people outside of the Nordic areas, but easily Sindri's favourite. It's also great too soothe his sore throat when he's got a cold. He is particularly fond of the salty kind. His brother: You won't hear him admit his fondness out loud, but he is quite fond of his older brother. His brother has always been the closest connection he had to the outside world. A source of advice and support. As a teenager he might not as readily admit it, but he still puts quite a lot of value in his brother's opinion of important things. Fairy Tales: An interest passed down by his brother. He has fond memories of his brother telling stories of the supernatural, fairies and the nature around them. Video Games & Music: A teenage boy has to do something while he sits sick at home after all. Norway: He was only ten years when they moved countries, but he retains fond memories of the country. For one, the air was a lot cleaner and less prone to making him cough than the London smog. | His Medicine: It's necessary and he's grateful that it helps him get to the day. That doesn't mean he needs to like it much. He takes quite a handful, each day, morning and evening, a routine he's used too, but it does not make it less tiresome. Getting Coddled: He's a big boy now! Or so he'd like the world to think of him. He wants to be taken seriously and it's a hard thing to be when you're constantly sheltered from the rest of the world. (Or getting embarrassed by teasing older brothers!) Family Tension: Sindri is aware his brother and his father don't get along. And when the silent resentment fills the air he would be quick to notice, even when he was little. He wouldn't call himself close to his distant father either, but he does still seek his approval and recognition. He doesn't he share his brother's suspicions about the company, as he was repeatedly told that he was lucky to be born in a family that could develop medicine for his conditions. Hot Days: When it gets too hot outside he becomes prone to dizziness, not to mention that his skin. Just. Burns. Burns terribly at that. Social Events: It's not like he hates social events by themselves. They can be quite lovely, the food is good, it breaks up the monotony. But it's the things that come with it. The people -never his age-, men asking continuously about his health, the crowded halls making him feel too heated and faint. He does not mind observing the events from a distance, but he'd much rather not be mingled in the middle of them. | Medicinal failure: Sindri is all too aware that his medicine is what keeps him alive and functioning. If he any of them were to fail it would be a difficult situation indeed. He also fears any situation in which he might be left for several days without any access to his medicine. Luckily for him it seems unlikely due to his Father's business. Cats & Dogs & Other Fuzzy Critters: It's not like he's afraid of the animal. He's afraid of the allergic reaction that they could bring him if he gets too cuddly. It's not deadly, but he wouldn't call it comfortable either. Failing University: His fear isn't much unlike any other student out there. In his case he'd be afraid of disappointing himself and those around him. Or worse, being unable to prove that he can be his own independent person. If he can't prove it like this, he's not quite sure how else he could. |

[cs=3] History |
[cs=3] Sindri was born a frail child in Oslo. He always had a very weak immune system and in turn suffered from frequent infections when he was a kid. Simple colds or flu's would often develop into full blown pneumonia, or worse. And all this went combined with a wild array of allergies, general anaemia and severe asthma. These circumstances led his father to withdraw him from school, favouring private tutors instead. Due to being secluded from ordinary playmates his age, he grew very close to his older brother. This fondness lasted well into his teens and he could often be seen trailing behind the latter when he was around the house. Because he was the younger child, he never carried as many expectations from his father, nor the pressures of needing to inherit the company. Of course, there was always the emphasis on succeeding and upholding the family name. However, this also meant that his Father would never pay him as much attention and his achievements would always be measured up against those of his older brother. Achievements he cold not easily match with his diminished health and conditions. The London air may not be as fresh as it was in Norway, but that does not halt the progression in modern medicine. Now at the age of 18 his health has improved enough for him to attempt to make his own excursions to the outside world. With that, he has started to push away more and more from his brother and family's coddling in a bid to become more independent. Though his health is not ideal he has taken it upon himself to attend University, to the best of his extent at least, in the hopes he might be able to prove himself. If not to his Father, then at least to himself. |
