[cs=3] Personality | ||
[cs=3] Outgoing: Femke loves people: talking to people, being with people, watching people. She’s at her happiest when she’s with her friends and family or when she’s working on a really exciting project. She’s very extroverted so after a long day working at the Q Division rather than Smart: Based on her looks, many people wouldn’t assume Femke to be so heavily involved in the sciences. Blonde hair, green eyes, and very fashionable, she doesn’t strike a person as the hard sciences type. But really, she loves science and engineering. She taught herself C++, and Java in high school because she was curious how programs ran. It was her grades that got her scholarships to a university in London and her brains that got her recruited by the Q Division of the MI6. Inventive: She’s always had a creative mind and a knack for looking at problems in a different way than most. She uses her creativity not just in thinking up ideas for new gadgets, but also in coming up with new outfits, or new recipes, or new ways to get to her favorite café. Caring: Femke is very nurturing and likes to take care of people. If she sees someone hurt, emotionally or physically, she feels the need to do something about it. She’s a great older sister, and can be very mothering to her friends. She’ll make a fuss if she thinks one of her coworkers hasn’t been eating or sleeping right and guilt trip them until they comply. Teasing: Femke loves to tease people, particularly those she likes. She never teases too meanly, always trying to keep things light-hearted and fun. Teasing is just another way she expresses her affection. Efficient: When she sees something Femke’s first instinct is to think of how she can improve it. A good portion of her job is taking things that the Q Division has already made and improving them. This initially annoyed some of her fellow researchers, especially since she is most everybody’s junior, but over time they realized she wasn’t trying to show them up. Femke honestly just wants to make everything work as good it can. Passionate: Femke cares deeply about what she does and who she loves. She does what she does to help support her mother so she can retire. At the same time this also means that when she gets worked up she can be hard to handle, let alone calm down. She isn’t quick to anger, but when she’s mad, she’s furious. Work Ethic: She’s worked extremely hard to get as far as she’s come. Femke works diligently, but has the bad habit of getting too wrapped up in her work when she’s in the middle of something, forgetting the essentials like eating and sleeping. She never forgets about other people though; she might forget to feed herself, but she’d never forget a friend’s birthday or some plan to meet up with a friend. Nosy: She loves to stick her nose into other people’s business, whether they want her help or not. She likes knowing what’s going on in the lives of the people she cares about even if they don’t want to share. In her mind, there’s nothing wrong with her knowing some innocent knowledge Secretive: Despite being so outgoing Femke actually has a hard time sharing her problems with others. She doesn’t want to burden anyone else with her problems, even as she wants to know other peoples’ problems so she can help. She recognizes this paradox, but can’t help it. She hates having others worry about her so she just keeps a smiling face in front of others and pretends nothing’s wrong. Controlling: She’s very protective of her work space. Yes it might be a little messy, but everything has its order. She puts things in a certain order so she always knows where every little thing is. When it comes to work, Femke isn’t the best at being a team player. She prefers to work on things by herself so if something goes wrong she has a better idea of what it was that happened and what might have gone wrong. She can be a team player normally, but when it comes to work it’s harder for her to let go. Judgmental: For better or for worse Femke is a tough critic. Because she’s hard-wired to think about ways to improve things that means that she’s always looking for faults and weaknesses. This has bled over into her relationships with people as she finds herself trying to figure out people’s flaws. When she inevitably finds these flaws in her romantic relationships she has a bad tendency of wanting to try and ‘fix’ these flaws. Obviously this doesn’t work out very well as most do not appreciate having their faults pointed out or Femke’s efforts to make them ‘better’. Manipulative: Femke isn’t above manipulating others to get what she wants. Mostly, in the same vein of her nosiness, she likes to get involved in things and try and mold them to make things happen the way she wants them to. Sometimes this means she’ll try and match-make two of her friends. Other times it might mean she uses her doe eyes to get the last piece of chocolate or a free glass of beer. For the most part she’s harmless, but sometimes her manipulations come back to haunt her. Stubborn: When Femke has her mind set to do something, she will give 100% of herself into doing it. There are times when she’s 100% wrong, but won’t admit it. Even if she knows she’s wrong it is hard for her pride to let it go that easily. The best way to make her give in is to give her a methodical, logical argument while providing solid evidence. Otherwise, you’ll have a tough time trying to convince her to do anything otherwise. | ||

Cooking/Baking: Because her mom was working so much in order to support them Femke took up the roll of cooking dinner at night. She found she actually really liked cooking and took to experimenting with new recipes using what little they had. Due to this experience Femke is great at cooking a delicious meal on a small budget. Drinking with friends: Femke loves going to a pub and having a drink or two and just talking with her best friends or coworkers. It’s relaxing and a fun way to bond (and maybe make it a little easier for her to get what she wants to know). She loves trying new beers and Exploring: She loves to see new things and meet new people so she makes it a point to go and see new areas of London she has not been to before and try eating at a new restaurant. Sometimes she’ll invite some friends to come with her, but other times she enjoys going solo and seeking things out on her own. Tinkering: Since she was a child Femke had a bad habit of liking to take things apart to see how they worked. As she got older she got better at putting them back together. Today she still loves to experiment with things, but her job fulfills that outlet. Fashion: Femke’s love of fashion dates back as far as she can remember. She always had loved weird cute dresses and overalls and shorts when she was a kid, and as she got older her love of it grew. Her fashion sense, like everything else, has always been on a budget so her taste was formed around what she could get at second-hand clothing stores. Comics: Femke grew up reading Belgian comics like Tintin, Suske en Wiske, Asterix, and Spirou et Fantasio. She loves them and has collected a good number of their compilations from Christmas gifts over the years. Today she has branched out and reads a good variety of more mature comics, reading mostly European comics, but a few American and Japanese comics as well. Bicycling: Stereotypical, right? Femke knows this and loves it. Bicycling is her favorite form of transportation, rain or shine (though admittedly if it is raining too hard she might just walk). Whenever she can Femke will bicycle to work, the London traffic doesn’t scare her. | Politics: Femke’s never liked politics. She’s always viewed politicians with at least some suspicion and is jaded about how much change can really result from the legislature. One might find this a paradox as she is working for the British government, but Femke much prefers what she is doing as she finds she finds her work to be doing a real solid good that is more quantifiable than what most politicians do. She's not that fond of office politics either. Wastefulness: Because she grew up so frugally, Femke has been conditioned to hate wasting things, whether it be clothing, household items, food, or time. Therefore she also hates those who are wasteful or over-indulgent. She can understand liking to have a few drinks, but binge-drinking or drinking every night is wasting not only good alcohol, but a person’s life as well. Tacky Clothing: She realizes this is shallow of her, but Femke has a bad habit of internally judging the clothes of those around her. She likes rating the outfits she sees and thinking of what would better suit the person or how the outfit could be fixed with a belt or a jacket or something of the like. She doesn't judge the people in the outifts, just their clothing (unless it's really that bad). Criminals: Femke knows her biological father was in drug industry and she blames him and it for what happened to her brother. She doesn’t understand why her brother chose to stay behind, but all she knows is that drugs were what split apart her family. Obviously, Femke knows she’s not the only person to hate drugs and crime, but for her it’s always been more personal. This personal hatred is in part what led her to accept her position with the Q Division of the MI6. Losing Control: Femke hates feeling helpless; it’s the worst feeling in the world. Because she’s so bright her brain is always running, always trying to think of a solution to something so when she hits a wall it hits her hard. | Not Being Good Enough: Despite knowing how smart she is, Femke worries sometimes that her work will be judged not good enough for the Q Division and that she’ll be kicked out. Or even worse, she worries that one of her fixes to a device or inventions might malfunction on a mission and she’ll have an agent’s death be on her hands. Losing Her Loved Ones: The effect of the loss of her older brother was stronger on Femke than she realizes. She is very protective of her family and her friends because subconsciously she’s deathly afraid of losing them too. She makes very close-knit bonds with her friends and each one is very dear to her so whenever a family member or a friend dies, it takes her longer than average to recover. Being Exposed: Femke’s job is obviously is top secret. She claims she works for the research division of a regular company, testing and creating better household products like vacuum cleaners and the like. She isn’t worried about her friends and family finding out; she’s a good liar when she wants to be. No, she worries about a criminal finding out who she is and targeting her family to get at her. |

[cs=3] History |
[cs=3] Femke never considered her family ‘poor’, she was too young to know better so for her, her life was just normal. Things changed drastically when her mother found out that her father was involved in illegal activities. After the divorce her mom moved her and her younger brother back to Belgium in part because she was worried about anyone in the drug trade coming after them, but also to be with her family. At first they stayed at an aunt’s house; she shared a room with her brother and her cousin while her mom searched high and low for a job to help support her children. It was summer so Femke was not in school, but her mother could already see how bright she was and wanted the best for the two children she still had custody over. Eventually she found a job as a waitress in a smaller town, but it was by a lot of their family and the schools were good. Once they were settled down Femke had a fairly normal childhood. She and her brother’s last names were changed to their mother’s because her mother didn’t want to be reminded of her ex-husband. She didn’t mind, it was just another name to her, though Femke always wondered at the back of her mind what happened to her older brother. Otherwise Femke had a fairly normal childhood. Sure her family never had a lot of money and her mom worked a lot so she wasn’t often home, but she had her cousins and uncles and aunts and her brother to play with so she was happy. It was during this time when Femke started realizing her interest in electronics. First she figured out how to take things apart so she could look at their insides. Then later she figured out how to put them back together. As she got older though she wanted to know more so she spent a lot of time at the library looking at books that were a bit too difficult for her to fully understand at that age, but she absorbed what she read anyways like a sponge. In secondary school Femke was an overachiever, balancing a thriving social life, her youth group, school, and her own personal interests in programming and mechanics. She also worked during the summer to save up enough to buy herself a good computer (and maybe a few comic book collections). In school she got very good grades, so good that she got government grants to go study at a Flemish engineering sciences university. Time passed by quickly after that. Femke got her Bachelor’s degree and quickly was accepted to get her Master’s degree at a university in London. Two years later she had her degree and had offers to work for a number of companies. That was when she was approached by an agent of the Q Division of the MI6. At first she had a hard time believing they were the real deal, but quickly realized the truth. Once she knew they were the real deal she was thrilled to have the chance to work for them. She could live out her dream of tinkering and inventing things for agents to use towards a noble cause. Not only that, but maybe they could even help her find out what happened to her long-lost older brother. So Femke accepted and became the newest and youngest researcher for the Q-Division. Today Femke has a flat somewhere in London, not too far from the government facility where she works. She ended up asking an agent to do her favor and look into what happened to her brother. When she got the news he had died in a house fire she was sad, but part of her was glad she at least finally had some closure. Femke spends much of her time at the Q Division, working on some project or another, but in her free time she likes to hang out with her friends, try new food, whatever she feels like. She tries to keep herself as active as possible and has made a lot of friends that way. Overall, Femke would say she’s content with how her life is going and is optimistic about her future and her dream of saving up enough money to pay for her mother to have a nice cushy retirement. |
