[cs=3] Sophia is a generally easy person to get along with. Being a part of such a large family (even if she is a part of the 'Oceania offshoot' of it), you don't tend to get very far unless you can socialized fairly well. She's not as forward as her brother, but that's to be expected - He is the elder sibling, after all. She's a generally carefree person who tends to go with the flow in life, and gets along with most people she comes across. There are exceptions, of course, but when aren't there? That being said, no one can be a complete ball of sunshine 100% of the time. Whereas she usually can get along with people pretty well, she has her moments just as well as anyone else. She's just not as obvious about them as others might be. Whereas others might get into shouting matches or even physical fights, Sophia's more likely to communicate her distaste through glares and comments. She's also the type who might give you the cold shoulder if you upset her enough - Which doesn't do much to solve the problem if you don't know what you did to upset her, but at least she doesn't have to deal with you for the time being? Growing up, Sophia was often seen as 'one of the boys' - And continues to be, to some extent. She never was one to wear her hair particularly long, and could more often be seen in clothes that modeled after her older brother's rather than dresses, which she felt too confining. She loved tagging along for outdoor activities, and to make matters worse, would not give clear answers to her 'new friends' who asked if she was a boy or a girl, preferring to tease them and leave the question dangling in the air instead. | ||

Animals - Sophia was around as a small child when her brother used to bring animals home in his pockets, and they alway did intrigue her. When she was older and he started spending more time at the zoo, occasionally taking his siblings along, she enjoyed the trips and hung on to every word that he said. She has a particular fondness for birds, on that note. Steve - Sophia adores her older brother, who practically raised her while they were growing up. Though they are going slightly different paths in life, she still holds a deep respect for him and remains close to him, even though they do have the occasional sibling tiffs. Sheep - Ever since she had a stuffed sheep when she was a little girl, Sophia has been obsessed with collecting sheep. Not literal sheep, of course, but sheep plushies, sheep pillow cases, sheep quilts...if anything has a sheep theme, she's likely to consider buying it. Zorbing - It's an odd little activity, but Sophia finds it oddly fun at the same time. New Zealand - Her birthplace. Despite the fact that she spent a limited amount of time in the area, she has recently become interested in her birthplace and finding out what she can. She would also like to visit it again now that she's old enough to remember it. | Dresses - Always being something of a tomboy, the last time Sophia wore a dress willingly she wasn't even old enough to talk. Her eyebrows - A Kirkland family trait, apparently, and one that she is not very fond of. She should not have to pluck her eyebrows as much as she does to prevent them from growing out of control! People making comments about her sheep collection - Yes, she collects sheep-themed items. No, it's not one of the most common collections in the world. However, she's been collecting them since she's a child, and she'll be damned if she stops now. Dorms/apartments that don't allow animals - Yeah...this is a small one, but in her first year of university she had to stay in a dorm. And said dorm didn't allow pets. The animal lover wasn't too happy about that one. Cold weather - Sophia's never been a fan of weather that is too cold...which makes adjusting to London a challenge, but other than that, she seems to be coping pretty well with the move! | Losing touch with her siblings - She doesn't so much mind being apart from them as she minds the idea of losing contact with them at any point. They could live on other sides of the planet so long as she's able to call or skype her siblings any day and catch up with them. Failure - While she could care less about impressing her parents, she doesn't want to let herself or her siblings down. Getting too involved with work - Remember how I mentioned she could care less about her parents? Well, there is one matter concerning her parents that absolutely terrifies her - Following in their footsteps. She may have never developed the sort of bond she should have with her parents (instead forming it with her siblings), she's old enough to recognize that her parents are an example of what happens if one gets too involved with their work and not involved in other aspects (and people) in their life. The last thing she wants is to get so wrapped up in work she forgets about the people she cares about. |

[cs=3] History |
[cs=3] One of three children, Sophia never really had to deal with 'being alone'. She always had the company of her seven years older brother, Steve, and their other sibling. This was a good thing, as if she had to rely on her parents it would have posed a problem. Sophia has the distinct benefit of having an Australian family while having been born herself in New Zealand. She was both conceived and given birth to during a year and a half long stay in New Zealand because of her parents' job. As both parents were workaholics, they would do what they could to further their career, whether they had to up and move their children or not. They soon relocated back to Australia, and some of Sophia's most prominent early memories consisted not of her mother and father, but of her older brother, Steve. Steve was always there for her and their other sibling whenever he could be. When she would fall and hurt herself playing outside at age five, it was Steve standing there with a band-aid and making sure she was alright, not her mother or father. As such, she was always close to her older brother, looking up to him as if he could do no wrong. This was likely the reason why she took a more tomboy-ish route as a child - She learned it all from her older brother. As she grew older, things changed of course. She no longer 'looked up to him' in the hero worship sense. She respected him and, indeed, still idolizes him in some ways, but as she entered into her teen years she no longer kept him on the impossibly high pedestal that he was on when she was a child. They developed a more sibling-like relationship at that point, having their occasional fights and tiffs, but never anything that threatened to tear their relationship apart. They still had a close brother-sister bond. It was for this reason that she was perfectly content with traveling with her siblings to London when Steve obtained a job at the London Zoo. While Steve adjusted to his new job, Sophia proceeded to enter her first year of university. There was no question what she wanted to major in. She wanted to go a different path than her brother, but she still wanted to work with animals. Veterinary science seemed like the perfect choice. It was also during this point that she became quite interested in the place where she was born. Though she'd spent most of her childhood in Australia, the fact that she was born in New Zealand resonated with her, and she began to research the place where she came from, developing a keen interest in the place and vowing to travel back at some point. Though she needs to finish university and find herself a career in her field. Occasionally she helps her brother out with his educational television show, dressing up as a sheep character that she created with him. |
